Alert: S-70 Okhotnik Stealth Bomber Drone Spotted Over Ukraine? Western Radars Can’t Detect It!

2023 ж. 18 Шіл.
554 392 Рет қаралды

The S-70 Okhotnik is a formidable stealth drone, designed to carry a variety of air-to-surface missiles and bombs within its concealed body, minimizing its radar signature. Its unique design allows for covert operations without the need for external weapons pylons. The drone's blended wing-body horizontal configuration, reminiscent of the renowned B-2 bomber, further enhances its stealth capabilities and may provide additional capacity for heavier payloads. This sleek design, free from protruding structures and sharp angles, significantly reduces its radar visibility, making it a challenging target for ground-based air-defense systems.

    • Yeah because operating one advanced aircraft, is just too easy!! if they build a dozen of these that will give them about two for each serviceable SU-57!! Sorry, but I just can't imagine this being a remotely logical tactic. Russia has already proved that their "advanced technology" is 2 decades behind the West. None of hs fancy stuff works with out western supplied electronics. They are robbing processors out of imported refrigerators and microwaves, to put in weapons! Russia only has one real electronics supplier and it's a state run company that isn't very good. They do have a few small high tech private businesses, but they can't make anything without western supplied electronics. More Russian make believe hype!

The Russian military designers are dreamers, putting concepts that look good on paper, but that they are incapable of producing. Think Su-57, T14 Armata tanks and of course the "unstoppable" hypersonic missiles that have proved to be easy pickings for Patriots! They probably executed some engineers over that failure to deliver!

  • There are a lot of comments that miss the real point of stealth. Stealth does not mean undetectable. Low detectable to some extent, but all stealth aircraft are detectable by radar. Specifically, stealth technology does not work particularly well against low frequency radar. So the real advantage for stealth aircraft is that it is very difficult to get a radar lock on them. Radar lock needs high frequency radar and stealth works pretty well in reducing radar returns to high frequency radars making radar lock difficult. The question then is how stealthy do you need to be. Russian stealth technology is definitely inferior to US stealth but Russians emphasize building planes that are highly maneuverable while US expects to win in BVR engagements. We’ll see which works out better at some point, perhaps.

    • That "Ohotnik" drone is not stealth... Particular problem is engine exhaust, that is mounted just like when kids create r/c plane. It is visible by all usable IC devices, even the oldest ones. I once followed 4 airplanes for kilometers, with my CAT S-60 telephone FLIR camera, while it was operational (using this comment, to mention that it was not water and impact resistant, as it was advertised! Water entered easily, and a small impact destroyed it! ). That UAV has a good weight over engine strength ratio, that allows it to carry a lot of ordinance, and if You attach to it some good gliding bombs or cruise missiles, that can be fired far from the target, that's OK, but there is no way to use it as some deep penetrator to the enemy territory, without air dominance. Let's go back to 1999. Yugoslavia, where we downed one (Grounded on our territory) , and damaged the other two F-117 at a time, 25 yrs ago, state of the art, stealth fighters. There are other planes damaged and downed like F-16, B-2, A-10, and some more... we could have done better, but threats from US military generals, towards retaliation to the civilian population stopped us in our effort, even to prevent extraction of the downed pilots (of course, we wouldn't harm them, as we didn't dose 3 guys captured on the ground, that were released in a few days)...In any case, US has "lessons learned", we do also. Some other countries, And blocks of countries - also... Time will show what is more effective and needed... In my humble opinion, stealth aircraft, with their incredible funding, were usable, and made success during the Irak attack only, after that became obsolete. There showed complete potential, in collaboration with false target drones, launched at the same time during first nights, to prevail in the air. Nowadays, tactics and strategy are way different... time will show, in any case... All of us learned something, so we will see. More important by me is how much all of that costs! Some people don't have to eat, some are in credits, economies are falling, because governments invest in stealth and new technologies, frightening their population, while they are living on the yachts, and private islands... War is not that terrifying! Actually it is, but it's unneeded...I was involved 3 times, but it is easier to go, and finish it in a few years, and continue your life, than to suffer all life long, paying someone, for something that You don't understand, and it's unneeded, just that they could make their way of living... ;)

  • The SU-57 drawback so far has been the round thrust vectoring engine nozzles, which make the aircraft easier to detect. But they've now developed square thrust vectoring engine nozzles and begun installing them on the aircraft which should significantly increase the stealth capabilities. As you can see in this video, the S-70 also currently has a round nozzle, while the schematics of the same drone feature a stealthy nozzle. It might be that the same design as on the SU-57 will be implemented on the S-70 as well.

The "motherships" don't necessarily deploy the drones themselves but rather manage swarms of large ground based Okhotink style drones (and possibly also can deploy a certain number of smaller defensive drones to protect themselves while in flight).

If you will Notice, our drones similar to this, like the RQ 180 and others, we defuse the exhaust and/or hide it from being seen from below, in where we orient it on the A/C. The exhaust will be on top of rear of aircraft, on the most stealthy planes, with any exhaust having a piece or shelf of extended fuselage underneath it hiding it. A ground heat seeking missile system won't get a lock on it that way.

Russia has a lot of projects to hype up support for its armed forces (T14, checkmate, T15, those robot thingis, the cal50 resistant armour etccccc) but its all hype for propaganda. The country has a history of ligitimising its political support via military wins (mostly against low pear adverseries, and even against those they took an insane amount of time and people to be able to claim victory) and those weapons are a small win on the homefront but nothing more.

  • Interesting idea. So the Okhotnik is intended to deeply penetrate enemy airspace undetected and deliver a payload against its target. It will have the ability to fly in tandem with the Felon who while having stealth like capabilities is not fully stealth. This means that while harder to detect, enemy radar would still be able to detect the SU-57. However, the Su-57 is equipped with the technology to allow it to find and engage both the F-22 and the F-35. So the picture I see is as follows: Russia decides to hit a target, in this case protected by American assets. So they launch their S-70 towards the target. As their S-70 approaches enemy airspace (or just before or sometime after depending on the mission) they launch their SU-57 and send them toward the enemy airspace. If everything works as desired the S-70 delivers its payload undetected, however the payload itself is evident the drone is in the area. As the S-70 makes its way back to Russian air-space, the SU-35 enters enemy airspace where somewhere along the way it meets up with the drone and provides coverage against the F-22 or F-35. Not a bad plan at all... If it works.

  • i like how the renderings all show a blended engine cowling and the actual thing is just "heres my giant engine!" Then you have all the vertical surfaces you can see at 8:25 with the antennas and sensor balls not just on top but also on bottom. You have to hope that's just a prototype with excess equipment to gather data because the whole purpose of the blended wing is to avoid vertical surfaces. That thing is bouncing returns off the vertical surfaces and then the engine of course is an unmitigated disaster in stealth. The engine has thrust vectoring which is nice I suppose but having the mechanisms exposed means it will again bounce radar returns like mad. They thought they could make something stealthy, then they realized that engine needs too much air coming in so they put too large an opening at the front to take in air, giving it a frontal radar return. then they realized they couldn't actually dissipate the heat from the engine without exposing it to open air and so they removed the cowlings designed to shield the engine from radar giving it a rear radar return as well as a massive thermal return that any fifth gen fighter jet could pick up with it's IRST system from miles and miles away. Then they realized they couldn't actually give the thing it's own its ability to use a radar and radio comms and see things unless they took the sensors and raised them up and away from the radar and radio absorbing body creating large vertical protrusions thats give it a radar return from any side on view. Great job Russia, you've made a stealth drone that could hardly be more visible if you strapped a rocket to a school bus.
