www.artofspirit.ca/ (from chopra.com) Personal Growth/Spiritual Commentator DEEPAK CHOPRA gives a beautifully brief and simple explanation of the mechanics of meditation. He includes place, posture, mantra, and mental attitude/technique.
I love Deepak’s guided meditations! They’ve changed my life! Thank you namaste 🙏🏽
You've changed my way of life. I love your Meditation
Deepak, you changed my life's vision into a positive journey of self-awareness over 20 years ago and I thank you from deep in my heart n soul.
there is a gap in between thoughts and mantra the goal is to let the thoughts and mantra lock you in to that gap and let your self sink in to that
Thank you for sharing!
great revelation!!!
Quite beautiful.
When I was in labour with my son I did the deep breathing through the nose and out of the mouth, the pain was through the roof but I could hand it by berathing correctly and just focousing on the breath. I actually lost 3 hours where I could not remember anything, no conversations nothing, time just skipped forward 3 hours or it felt like it did and then I was actually giving brith. Meditation and how to go about it is difficult to understand, especially as you are suppose to say a mantra but I found this confusing because if you are saying a mantra then you are thinking so how does one switch off the mind and not think. I want to meditate and then clicked this video which triggered the memory of the birthing experience. After listening to Deepak I now have a better understanding of what to do and what happened during the birthing experience and how to just be and not focous too much on the mantra...thanks.
DEEPAK CHOPRA EXPLAINS HOW TO MEDITATE (in 4 minutes)
So he resume TM meditation.
Correct recipe of Meditation is given in Bhagvadgeeta. It is said that, you seat in a quiet place and just observe your breath. keep your eyes closed. Dont try to concentrate on your breath (respiration) but you have to just observe breath. Just like how you in-hell, how that breath remains inside you, for how long ? etc. just keep observing. After sometime you will feel that its not so easy, but keep trying.
Prasad Damale there is no correct or incorrect recipe for meditation. There a dozens of different schools and forms of meditation and everyone is free to try them all and choose what suits them best. What you just paraphrased from the Bhagavad Gita is a breathing meditation. What Deepak describes here is a form of effortless mantra meditation. Two very different things. So it's utterly pointless to call this video incorrect and utterly useless to then proceed to give instructions for a totally different technique. Or would you comment under a "how to make smoothie" video that the recipe is incorrect and then type out a recipe for a milkshake?
This is a different kind of meditation. What Chopra is talking about here is Transcendental Meditation.
how to meditate when you are sleeping
when he says think of the mantra does he mean literally think "soo-huum"
my opinion: so hum mantra he likes, but any mantra you adopt and feel as "yours" will work.
+Tarik's ART OF SPIRIT I'm a Buddhist and I use 'Om Ah Hum' to complement the 3 phases of the breath- inhaling, retention, and exhaling. But sometimes I need to be more grounded and I use "This is It: Just This: Here, Now'. I hope this helps someone x Om Mani Padme Hum (that's another good one!)
i dont get the mantra and thought parts cancel each other out
First, understand your mantra. Secondly, recite your mantra to the point where your mantra subdues your everyday thoughts (without you realizing). It's like having a dream while you're awake and fully cognizant. How many times have you felt that you don't know where you are, suddenly? I know it's a year late but I hope it helps.
@@gabriele9455 thank you! Very helpful
Please tell me what he means by mantra.
+Nick Moore I assume he means a very short phrase (often in sanskrit language from India) like so-hum, shivo-hum, etc. But many people do it with something in English - for example "I am God" "I am Love" "I create my reality" etc.
Tarik's ART OF SPIRIT Do you say the phrase out loud or in your head?
Good question. I think it's up to you, but the mental repetition is most important - it's what I do. An additional verbal repetition is if you desire it.
mantra means chanting.... don't confuse him.
Nick Moore out loud is better

Taught by an inferior man this Self cannot be easily known, even though reflected upon. Unless taught by one who knows him as none other than his own Self, there is no way to him, for he is subtler than subtle, beyond the range of reasoning. Not by logic can this realization be won. Only when taught by another, [an enlightened teacher], is it easily known, dearest friend. -Katha Upanishad, I.2.8-9 Sighs heavily.
Deepak is an enlightened man.
So, in order for the teacher to not be inferior, does he have to charge you 1500$?
He didn't give any specific diksha, Pooja or mantra. He not claim that's TM, but your preocupation is because you now that's resume TM in 4 minutes for free. I did the course, it was expensive but as well one of the best tools that i have in my life. Beautiful experience. The only thing that make me anoid is that now everybody knows (tm free blog), that mantras are not personal and the simple age criteria and not other factors like your profession o ishta devata should be considered (only my opinion) Sorry for the grammar it's not my first lenguage My two conclusion: 1- even if the teach pretty resume the principal aspect of TM, it's not TM and he is not giving mantra diksha nor pooja, so he don't need to be enlighting or be bramin. It's just a good advice for mantra yoga meditation.
Well and im not good in maths 🤣. Only one very personal conclution
@@Danieldelafabian2285 I new for 48 years that TM mantras were selected based on information in the application form: Name, Addressn telephone number, age, sex, comments.z That was my TM teacher's carefully worded answer in 1973. Which are most likely to be used from that group?
Isn’t it TM?
pretty much, it's Vedic Mantra meditation which TM is derived from as well as Deepak's own Primordial Sound Meditation
Crazy how he’s quoting Maharishi without giving him credit. Holy shit
