That's not a thing they can just do. Real life sports leagues have licensing deals with the companies they work with. Other developers can't just make an NHL game.

I'm still convinced that the best hockey game would be a floor hockey game. No skates, it would give you more control of your player instead of constantly gliding around. You could build a great stick handling system to dangle through people, youd get to play with the orange ball. I think the physics would work perfectly
