I didn’t know until I played Game+ mode which requires you to use every stealth option available. The base boss fight I think only requires half of them.

@@griz312 actually even the ng+ version doesn't require you to do everything as technically some options are mutually exclusive like takedown when you're above/hanging from a railing. in both cases the railing will get frozen.

Not only does this game make the player think deeply about every tool kit at their disposal, but it pays so much respect toward a character like Mr Freeze by showing how absolutely intelligent he is by plucking away Batman's abilities one at a time.

I only got the cape frozen during New Game Plus... It makes the battle so harder, especially on the PC or 7th gen consoles because of the dense fog that formes in the OG game

I really enjoyed this boss fight, I think the best part of this fight is how Mr Freeze adapted to your methods that then forced you to think of different approaches in order to defeat him. I think even the AI of common enemies had some adaptability to Batman when it came to the stealth segments in the Arkham games. It's something I wished we'd see more of in other games that's not "scripted" at a certain point, as patterns get easy and boring over time. You could really refine this and smooth it out to really challenge players and make it fun.

I like it, he sounds apprehensive which makes sense. Freeze just made one of his most useful pieces of equipment obsolete and keeps adapting to his methods of attack and maneuverability. It's the first boss in the game where he can't just punch his problems away, so he probably is realizing just how dangerous Victor is at the moment. Even Batman can be taken by surprise.

I think about this fight a lot when I think about well thought out boss fights. He specifically adapts to each strategy you use against him. He LEARNS. You can't just hit him with the same thing 3 times and beat him, he's SMART. And it's SO WELL DONE! I never even knew about this, either!

The fight against Mr. Freeze on NG+ is one of the best, maybe THE best boss fight i have ever played. None of your tricks works more than once because Freeze has a counter-measure he deploys after being hit once by any type of attack/takedown and his suit can take quite a bit of damage, so you have to make use of most of your arsenal to end this confrontation. It's great.

Unlike other bossfights from throughout the series, I appreciated this one the most. It forced you into a confined space with no way out, Mr. Freeze would adapt at-will each time you successfully attacked him, and forced you to ALWAYS try out different strategies. Any other boss in this series: hit them with a gadget to stun, mash the punch button, dodge out of the way of their moveset, come back in, use gadget, punch them again, rinse and repeat. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Arkham Knight tried to replicate this fight with the Arkham Knight at his headquarters, but it always boiled down to just being patient, approach from below, and then just grapple up to him. THAT'S IT. Even Slade/Deathstroke was a good fight too, but again: it's just button mashing and timing. This one really made you think and apply what you know about ALL the game mechanics, and for that it's my favorite bossfight in any Arkham game. By the last part of the bossfight, Freeze is a formidable opponent, and you need to be crazy-careful. On harder difficulties, this boss fight was awesome. This bossfight really made you understand and try out all the approachable methods the game had to offer. In all my years of having this game, never did I know if the cape was near Freeze, that it would...well, freeze and cause you to not be able to glide. Such an amazing detail, from an amazing game.

Grappling and free-running on rooftops is more fun anyway. Besides the cape only visibly ices over with the Arkham City suit and I don’t play with that skin very much, so I probably wouldn’t have noticed it even if I did use the gliding

If you think about it...Mr Freeze is damn clever. His intellect is on par with Batman. Batman, Uses a tactic to attack Mr Freeze. Mr Freeze gets attacked, Adapts to counter and nullify batmans used tactic. Every time. How many of Batman's enemies can do that? Not many.

This fight is a huge reason why AC was the best of the series I think. It was incredibly challenging especially after playing other easier stealth games(also with the same acronym). Utilizing all your takedown abilities makes you truly feel like Batman. And a little claustrophobic

I didn’t know until I played Game+ mode which requires you to use every stealth option available. The base boss fight I think only requires half of them.

@@griz312 actually even the ng+ version doesn't require you to do everything as technically some options are mutually exclusive like takedown when you're above/hanging from a railing. in both cases the railing will get frozen.
It's still up there with of my favorite boss fights in any game I've played. I'm always impressed by how dynamic and filled with little details it is.

@@DisKorruptd Playing on hard requires you to take him down 8 times (3 more than normal mode) and NG+ requires you to take him down 9 times, which means you must use basically all of Batman's takedowns.

One of the greatest boss fights in video game history. They made a guy that was powerless and made you help him, just for him to be scary and much more powerful than you are. Truly amazing.
One of the best video game boss fights ever. Just the idea that you can use any kind of attack you like (stealth, tools, rappel), but only once, is so clever. It's like they're saying "ok, let's see if you know your stuff by now".
On last-gen the air also becomes frozen as well. I hate that they didn’t include this detail on the remastered version of the game.

I played this without realizing it was THE mr.freeze boss fight and the amount of panic I felt as I lead him around was unreal 💀

I only got the cape frozen during New Game Plus... It makes the battle so harder, especially on the PC or 7th gen consoles because of the dense fog that formes in the OG game
I really enjoyed this boss fight, I think the best part of this fight is how Mr Freeze adapted to your methods that then forced you to think of different approaches in order to defeat him. I think even the AI of common enemies had some adaptability to Batman when it came to the stealth segments in the Arkham games. It's something I wished we'd see more of in other games that's not "scripted" at a certain point, as patterns get easy and boring over time. You could really refine this and smooth it out to really challenge players and make it fun.

I like it, he sounds apprehensive which makes sense. Freeze just made one of his most useful pieces of equipment obsolete and keeps adapting to his methods of attack and maneuverability. It's the first boss in the game where he can't just punch his problems away, so he probably is realizing just how dangerous Victor is at the moment. Even Batman can be taken by surprise.

I really saw Freeze's fight as one of the best. It shows his intelligence and strength. It's a shame you don't get something like that much again later in the game. The Tyger could've been something more, they were cool and interesting, but not like Freeze.
Fun fact: if you take too much time to defeat mr freeze, alfred will call batman listing all remaining takedown options
Another Fun Fact: If you use your Detective Vision for too long, Freeze will hack in & and disable it for the rest of the fight.

I think about this fight a lot when I think about well thought out boss fights. He specifically adapts to each strategy you use against him. He LEARNS. You can't just hit him with the same thing 3 times and beat him, he's SMART. And it's SO WELL DONE! I never even knew about this, either!
I have done this boss probably 20 times and am still learning new stuff about it. This is how you do a boss.
I refuse to believe this has always been in the game. I pride myself in knowing AC back and forth and never, not once, have I seen this detail in my multiple playthroughs. This game never ceases to amaze

I've played this game I don't know how many times and I've *never* seen this, or heard that dialogue about him not being able to deploy his cape... This game is coming up on 12 years old and I'm still seeing new things.
The way he talks, sounds, and the way his machine suit looks is actually really bad ass and terrifying.

The fight against Mr. Freeze on NG+ is one of the best, maybe THE best boss fight i have ever played. None of your tricks works more than once because Freeze has a counter-measure he deploys after being hit once by any type of attack/takedown and his suit can take quite a bit of damage, so you have to make use of most of your arsenal to end this confrontation. It's great.
I didn't know somehow your cape can be frozen. I thought it was the game using that as a cool way to cover Batman with ice.
He adapts to the players tactics. Half way through the fight he will realize Batman’s greatest power is his style. This is a rare occurrence.

God, this fight was so terrifying. It's been since 2011 since I last played it, but I still remember just how scared I was everytime Freeze spoke.
Bro, I was expecting that the cape would become stiff or something.
Unlike other bossfights from throughout the series, I appreciated this one the most. It forced you into a confined space with no way out, Mr. Freeze would adapt at-will each time you successfully attacked him, and forced you to ALWAYS try out different strategies. Any other boss in this series: hit them with a gadget to stun, mash the punch button, dodge out of the way of their moveset, come back in, use gadget, punch them again, rinse and repeat. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Arkham Knight tried to replicate this fight with the Arkham Knight at his headquarters, but it always boiled down to just being patient, approach from below, and then just grapple up to him. THAT'S IT. Even Slade/Deathstroke was a good fight too, but again: it's just button mashing and timing. This one really made you think and apply what you know about ALL the game mechanics, and for that it's my favorite bossfight in any Arkham game. By the last part of the bossfight, Freeze is a formidable opponent, and you need to be crazy-careful. On harder difficulties, this boss fight was awesome. This bossfight really made you understand and try out all the approachable methods the game had to offer. In all my years of having this game, never did I know if the cape was near Freeze, that it would...well, freeze and cause you to not be able to glide. Such an amazing detail, from an amazing game.
this is the whole point of this fight. freeze will adapt to what you do to him so you gotta find new ways to beat the crap out of him. it's a very fun and dynamic way that arkham city handles this fight and it deserves more praise because of it
