  • This is so much like my first moments in Germany! Except I was carrying two big suitcases and a huge backpack, I was exhausted from taking three flights to get there and the bus was packed. I struggled a lot with understanding the ticket selling machine and also with the coins which I was using for the first time in my life... Two lovely old german people helped me to get into that bus using broken English.... Although it was a tough moment I treasure it in my mind... Going to live abroad is truly an amazing experience but it is also full of confusing and difficult moments like this...

    • Trains and transport in Germany in general just suck xD. At least from mine experience. It's pure chaos unfortunately. I'm afraid of traveling alone there, because I just know that there will be some train changes and I will just get lost. So I must admit, you have courage. And hearing VERSPÄTUNG every time when you use a train, became a routine.. Although, not every transport is that bad, there are some exceptions:)

  • This video made me feel the way I felt when I went to Germany for the first time. Same as her age, 23. It really portrays how in general the German people are. They seem rude at first. They let you suffer a little so you can figure out things by yourself. And then, just when you thing you might break apart..... They push you a little, so can figure it out. One builds character in this country very quickly. Nice video.

I had taken German for 2 years in high school and 1 year in college. A lot of German people helped me through a lot of my challenging experiences. Almost 50 years later, I'm still in touch with Germans I became friends with, and who had befriended me.

  • This video is great. Whenever one is abroad, things always go wrong during the first few days, for no reason at all, as if taking the piss on us: bus route temporarily changed due to road work, office closed due to rennovation, ticket machine out of order/coins, and in case of Italy, one gets conned. For this, I believe the video would speak to a lot of us.

Vielen Dank!
