Another beautiful bowl! My Dad was a very talented carpenter. He loved all woods. Some of my favourite memories of my Dad is when he worked with his tools on wood❤️
Thanks Carol!
Clear resin would allow so much more of the natural beauty of the wood to be seen.
I was looking for an infusion of color in this one, but I understand what your saying, thanks.
Another great bowl! Without the resin that was basically a piece of firewood. Now it’s a treasure for someone!
Agreed! Thanks
Beautiful, Jim! All the right components: A beautifully figured piece of wood. Lovely colors in the resin. And your savvy skills. And to those take exception to your slightly different ways of turning, I would say, “check out the results!” One of the rules of my shop is, “If it works, and IT’S SAFE, it’s good!”
Awesome, thanks Dave!
Another just gorgeous absolutely stunning piece! I love the color combination. And I like the light translucency!!! Haters going to hate.. I think majority of viewers love resin and wood it just takes it to that next level.Again this bowl is stunning!!!
It’s really the only way to really save theses burls and safely turn them, thanks 🙏
Very beautiful wood combined with a wine colored epoxy. This bowl is awesome.
Thank you very much!
The perfect piece of wood for epoxy. They worked very well together for a beautiful bowl. Congratulations on your new sponsor.
Thanks Ray!
One beautiful bowl. I am liking how the resin is translucent and makes the bowl even brighter when the light shines on it.
Sure does. Thanks Judith!
Jim, that's just a fantastic way to turn what would otherwise would be wasted. Well done!!
I can save a lot more pieces from the wood stove with resin!
Congratulations on the sponsor partnership! The hot glue isn't ever going to be optimal when used with epoxy resin, that thermal reaction you get when epoxy cures will always melt the glue.
Thanks, I would agree with you but the Deep Cast doesn’t seem to get hot like most resins I’ve seen used here on KZhead. I will use a weigh from now on, Jim.
I love the wood/resin combo. I especially love feet on the bowl and the finished project finished in clear resin.
Thanks for watching
Just keep doing what you're doing. Let the naysayers go some place else.!💕
Thanks!
This is such a lovely wood and resin combination. The resin is actually one of my favorite colors.
Me too, it’s in my personal collection. Thanks!
Congrats on a new sponsor, Jim! I like the tiger striping the epoxy created in this piece.
Thanks. It’s really cool on the bottom!
Love how interesting the wood looks, with the resin colors u picked it really highlights the wood. Such a gorgeous bowl, as always.😊😊
Thank you very much!
The resin saved that burl. Great job.
It wouldn’t of happened without it, thanks
This came out awesome. That resin grain is one of a kind. Thanks Jim
Glad you like it, thanks
I enjoy your channel so much. I like that you are methodical and descriptive but hold that nice conversational tone. I will probably never have the facility to turn wood in this way but the approach and techniques you use for finishing your items has been a source of guidance for other wood projects I have done since subscribing to your channel. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make these videos so watchable.
Awesome Paul! Thanks for watching!
I love the fact you can use odd pieces of wood now that resin is available❤
Thank you! Cheers!
The wood was unique to begin with, then you picked the perfect colors for your epoxy. That bowl is gorgeous. Congratulations on your new sponsor, too!
Thanks, it’s hard to believe how nice it turned out!
The first time you stopped the lathe after finishing gauging it out - wow the resin in those cracks blew me away its a stunner. Just had to edit my spelling there 😂
Thank you very much! Lol.
Oh my! The colors and the pattern in this bowl are amazing! Great job! Bravo! Absolutely stunning!
Thank you so much!
Everybody is talking about how much they love the bowl and im here thinking yeah its cool but did you all see his timmy ho's hat? My hats off to your hat sir.
Lol, I was told that hat was worth $500 10 years ago, I wonder how much it’s worth now, thanks.
Best resin bowl so far
Thanks Harry!
Oh my god Jim....The finish on that bowl is amazing!! I have got to learn how you get a food safe finish that shines like that!! Fantastic work. I will definitely support your sponsors.
Awesome, thanks Jerry!
Beautiful bowl. Epoxy has its place and this maple burlap was certainly it. Thanks for the videos. From the UK!!
Thanks Brenda!
Fantastic channel love this guy. He makes mistakes and doesn"t try to disquise them. just a ho hum and get on to fixing the problem. His bowl work is superb. Thanks Jim. Breno downunder.
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Incredible bowl Jim! Thanks to Designer Epoxy . Cheers, Paige C.

Thanks I really appreciate it!
Gorgeous bowl! Such rich colour, and texture in the wood! Well done!
Thanks 😊
I love going back over your older videos I found this one the Maple Burl and designer epoxy, absolutely beautiful
Awesome! Thank you!
Hi Jim, like you, I believe resin has it's place but you would not have been able to turn this beautiful piece of maple burl without it. The grain the bowl is stunning and the contrast from the resin is beautiful. Thanks for sharing, glad to see your learning to use resin.
Thanks Jim, it’s a process!
Another one knocked out the park! Great job, Jim!
Thanks 🙏
Good lord that bowl is stunning
Thanks 😊
Great project Jim always enjoy your commentary to give insights into what has gone well and the not so wells. Good job see you next time David
Some days are a struggle, lol. Thanks
Congratulations on the sponsorship
I’m thrilled to be working with them, thanks!
@@SpragueWoodturning you're welcome. I really enjoy the variations that you bring to wood turning
Beautiful Bowl with red pearl & crystall purple! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Kim!
That is my favorite epoxy bowl! I think it's just awesome the way it turned out.
Love the way the colors blended together.
It’s pretty cool, thanks 🙏
Beautiful colors. I love epoxy! Greetings from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
Wish I have that Australian summer now! Welcome!
WOW! Beautiful colour contrast and wood grain! Just wow. Oh it's not just winter, It's Canadian winter!!! I meant the cracks that look like grain
Thanks, this piece is in my personal collection. Jim
Jim, Of all the resin bowls I’ve seen, you are doing the best job! Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks John, it’s been a fun experience for me too!
Very nice way to recover and turn that beautiful piece of wood.
Thanks 🙏🏻
I am a tool and die maker with a lot of experience with 20,000+ rpm air grinders. The problem with using high-speed grinders on epoxy is melting the epoxy which is essentially homemade plastic. The higher the speed the lower the pressure to limit heat. The higher the speed the harder and finer the grit behaves.
This is good advice, I should of mentioned it but when I sand I don’t put a lot of pressure on the pad. This way the heat is kept to a minimum, thanks.
Great colors Jim can’t wait to see you do a resin project with a natural inlay with it... combine the forces to create the perfect storm! Lol 👍x💯
Thanks Michael!
This is an awesome bowl Jim! 👏🎊💫The colour combo is perfect! I especially like his each of the cracks has a different colour combo. I also really like that one spot with a solid red. It looks like you did it on purpose 😎 if you keep turning out gorgeous resin pieces like this you might convert me from the Natural inlays ...hhhmmmmm... 🧐 maybe 😃 Look forward to next weeks video
Thanks a lot, Leisongi or K, lol.
Nice one Jim, you did a great job on that bowl. As you say, resin is about the only way that you can turn a piece of would like that. And using a pressure pot really shows off all those cracks. 👍👍👍
I’m totally happy with my pressure pot and the resin, thanks.
First time I've watched your videos and you blew my mind when you said NB!! I live in Riverview NB and recently started turning!! Small world
Born and bred in Moncton, grew up on McSweeney Ave close to the Moncton hospital, safe turning.
That is a stunning piece Jim. Those colours are fabulous!
Many thanks!
A great piece, love the way the epoxy filled the cracks. Moving to the resin would made you look at your wood pile in a new I would think. This bowl is stunning sir, a fine piece of art. I'm glad you got all the sponsors you have now, that tells me you a class A wood turning artist. Love the colors on this piece, outstanding.🌿 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
Awesome bowl, Jim!! The grain and resin combination really pops!!
It’s a good combo! Thanks 🙏
That's plum purdy Jim!
It’s is plumy, lol. Thanks.
What a awesome bowl and pour. I enjoy watching and learning from your video's. Congrats on the new sponsor.
Thanks Curtis!
Each one gets better and better. Good work sir!
Thanks Chris, practice make perfect!
Wow that turned out gorgeous!! That figure and the epoxy fill. Just beautiful.
Thanks John
I like the inside a lot. Love those tiger stripes.
It’s funny, the ugliest, narlest and cracked pieces of wood seem to make the best resin projects, Jim.
What a wonderful fruit bowl!
It sure would be, thanks!
Jim, I am totally in love with this bowl! The way that the resin filled in the cracks is absolutely gorgeous. Nice job! 💜
It’s hard to believe that the resin would do such a great job on all those cracks, thanks.
What an awesome and stunningly beautiful magnificent and spectacular. The grain the resin everything is just awesome.
It’s a beaut! Thanks.
Have you considered saving all those resin shavings and making a piece of plastic candy floss? Super cool how the red and purple mixed, beautiful piece 🥰
That could be a new line of products for me, haha. Thanks
Late to see this video, but just wanted to say how much I appreciate this vid and your steps - especially finishing! Thanks for sharing! ✌️❤️🍻🖖
Awesome, thanks Jack!
All I can say is WOW!
Thanks Brad!
Goodness Jim - you pick up fast on working with resin! Nice work, thanks for sharing. Now, a Resin and Natural method -- that would be nice to see.
Possibly in two weeks, thanks.
congrats on the sponsoring right on !
Thanks again!
WOW Ilove the way the resin got inlay, it does give an unic look. Very very nice.
Thanks 😊
Beautiful piece, wasn’t sure about the colours at first, but they really complemented the maple well.
Thanks Brent, colors are always a crap shoot, lol.
Jim, Absolutely beautiful love this bowl. Great job. Kevin Minneapolis Minnesota
Thanks Kevin.
BEAUTIFUL, ,WOULD MAKE A FANTASTIC LAMP SHADE.
Yes it would if it was thinner, thanks 🙏
New to your channel here, but I already love everything you produce. The colors you produce with your resin are spectacular! This bowl and the orange pumpkin colored bowl are by far my favorites. Can't wait to see what else you create
Welcome aboard! Thanks

Thanks! Where you located?
@@SpragueWoodturning I'm outside Trenton, born in Pet retired form military back in 95 at that time stationed in Chatham N.B.
I went to an air show there back in the late 80s, born and raised in Moncton. My sons posted to Greenwood.
Loving your bowls and learning just what it takes to make one product. Incredible.
Thanks Norine, it’s a labour of love!
@@SpragueWoodturning Mom gave me two of your bowls over the years. Best salad and mixing bowls. Will get more...your work incomparable.
Thanks Norine!
I know I say this about most, if not all of your work, but this is spectacular! I think this might be my favourite so far! LOVE IT! I wish I could get it!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful. l Iike the way the cracks in the wood filled in.
Thank you very much
That IS beautiful Jim, I am late watching due to recovery from Covid. STAY SAFE! And keep up the beautiful creations
COVID sucks, glad to see your alright! We’re you in the hospital?
@@SpragueWoodturning No thank God, I had the first dose of the Vaccine and 2 weeks later had one day of body aches. Stayed home 11days and actually did a lot of shop work. 😁 Tex
Wow so pretty, love the purple inside the bowl
Thanks!
Wow, visiting old vid's love those colors, sort of pinky...lol Love it and Burl how can you go wrong really. Cheers
Thank you very much!
Between the beauty of the burl and the resin, it's just stunning! Great job!
Thanks Todd!
Friggin' beautiful. Loved the build, the video, the editing, etc. Great video sir!
Awesome, thanks Tony!
that resin went right in those small cracks
It sure did, thanks!
Congratulations on the new sponsor! Always look forward to your videos. Bowl is beautiful. I like the tutorial style you use while the video plays. I find it helpful as I am relatively new to turning. The explanation for your waste block mounting system was awesome. I have had a few bowls come off the lathe due to the issues you pointed out. One tip on resin, if you want the colors to swirl without blending I "play" the work time. So I wait until it is lightly stiff then pour it seems to help especially if I am using a light color with a dark color. Again I always enjoy and looking forward to your video next week.
Awesome, thanks for the info Chris!
Brilliant to use a marker to make sure you have not missed a spot on the carbide blade. I will be trying this for sure! Thanks
Great! Thanks
I have a small suggestion to help you stop having bowl blanks floating. Use three sheet metal screws with sealing washers, the type used for roofing if it will stop water from coming in it should stop resin from leaking out. Have a great day
I get what your saying, the only problem is I don’t want to put holes in the bucket because I reuse them, thanks for the idea tho, Jim.
Jim that is a pretty bowl Man U take care now my friend. Chris
Thanks Chris!
@@SpragueWoodturning i made a video of my 40th pen if u havent seen it yet. Chris
Beautiful colors Jim, love what ur doing with epoxies 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks, it’s fun to figure out.
Love your tips and tricks. I’m just a beginner so I need all the help I can get! The bowl is beautiful.
Thanks Amy!
Jim, That was amazing how you turned that burl into a beautiful work of art! The colour is stunning! Great job!
Thanks, I had my doubts, lol.
Me and my wife both love the bowl
Thanks 🙏
What a gorgeous bowl, love this one!
My wife has claimed it, you have good taste too!
Stunning like always. You master the epoxy! LOVE IT.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍❤️
Not yet, lol. Thanks.
Beautiful work, those combo colors are awesome Jim 👌10 on 10
Awesome! Thanks! It was pretty much what I was going for color wise. It’s easy to make this stuff when you work with great materials from the start!!
Gorgeous bowl...burgundy...my color. Great work.😊

Lol, thanks Jim!
