If Timo Werner played for Leipzig until this season and didn’t have his spell at Chelsea then the negative bias from some supporters wouldn’t be there! Werner had 44 combined goals/assists in 2 seasons for Chelsea and has the most goals/assists in Leipzig’s history. I am frustrated with Werner’s lack of composure in front of goal but he is an effective player who is worth being a squad player in addition to a couple of other new forwards.
We’re signing Timo permanently one thousand percent. He’s played too well not to be signed. With Gil and Perisic leaving, need a winger and Timo fills in the perfectly.

Speaking as someone with a German ex-wife I didn’t think I’d warm to Timo. However watching him in the stadium Sunday he gave Brennan an absolute demonstration of attacking wing play. So what he sclaffs some but at least there’s something TO sclaff. There was nothing down the right until the game was won. He had won me over aber wo mit habe ich das verdint 🤷♂️ COYS
Really enjoyed Werner since day one. Yeah he's frustrating with some of the misses but he makes up for it with his willingness to always make a forward run. That's always opening up space for others and with Johnson on the opposite side it means both opposition fullbacks always have to be tracking their guy for the full 90 minutes. Combine that with his really positive attitude and how much he WANTS to stay and it's a complete no brainer. His performances have basically forced Ange to start him of late as well.
Honestly, Timo is pulling a lot of the weight. If the other players can receive his crosses and be in better positions, Timo can be much more lethal. Too many times, I’ve seen Timo getting into a good space inside the box but nobody else is there to receive his pass.
Hes good and getting better.. a full preseason in this team and he'll be so much better 💪💪

I would love if we keep Timo he bring a lot for us, but the fact that he is a striker and his lower trait may be finishing scares me a lot. I believe he would be really good coming off the bench, so we should sign him for depth

Ange has simplified things for Werner, which the man needed. He said "your playing lw, i want you to hug the touch line, keep it simple, and when your one on one with the full back, look to get a dangerous cross into the box". Simple, but effective

As others have said for just £15 million it's a no brainer for Timo but like you mentioned yes we do need another winger as well but I'm hoping that it's not Nico Williams, what with Son, Timo & Johnson we already have 3 players who are very similar in that role. You mentioned Jota who is now in Saudi, he would be a great addition as he offers something very different as a winger, he's a younger version of Perisic who can deliver a great ball in would be a great addition. On another point you mentioned about Timo not playing on the left too often before, well Ange likes versatility and he also likes his front 3 to rotate within a game but at the moment I feel he's keeping Timo on the left for him to get used to that role because it's his less familiar position. Next season I can see the front 3 interchanging within a game and that will give us a greater advantage over a defence of a team, they won't know who to mark.

If can get Nico Williams in also , the potential with squad rotation become very interesting to keep for such a low fee? It will make Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon surplus though ? More outgoing transfers or loans with options to sort will be crucial to spending . Ideally the last two games should be qames to play the less used players in the squad for shop window or up for rotation next season. Given the next six games are the ones to sort the CL place and how well this squad measures against the top title contenders .

Werner has been doing an amazing job creating chances and those assists of his (the own goals) have been his way of creating pure chaos for opposing teams. THATS HOW WE BEAT LIVERPOOL. if any of his detractors cant remember....He deserves the contract and will be quite valuable as a squad player in Europe.
I agree with you we need a top flight left winger and Timo for depth, but only if Gil goes and Spurs decides what it wants to do with Solomon. I can't see both Timo and Manor S (even if fit) staying.

I agree that assists for OG's should count. It's your pressure and your ability that causes the defence to make a mistake. It should actually count more than most regular assists

Timo for me boys. Speed, industry, and he does what Ange wants. He is a player that the opposition cant ignore, and he can still beat them when they try to stop him. Also don't forget Timo hasn't had a pre-season with Ange yet. In my view he is being judged as if he has been here for ages. He is a team man and he has made the whole forward line look better because he is in it.

Spurs havent played that many hard games since Timo came in. 5 out of our next 7 game look very difficult, Lets see how he performs against the big boys and then decide. Anyways Spurs definitely need at least 1 more wide man and a top class centre forward. Thats just up top.

I do get a little tired of the obsession with stats , I have eyes and can see what a player does in a game . Don't have an issue using stats to identify players but seeing is the best way to understand what a player can do . Can't help but feel that player manager has created this obsession with data . Werner has clearly improved over the short time he has been at Spurs and for £15 million is a good addition to the squad .

Also if we sign timo + another the orther starts probably on the right with sonny on the left meaning Johnson and kulu go on the bench, so where does timo go. I would say the same thing about Richy, Kulu. Madders still not firing. His crosses into the box are first rate. Just need our Number 9 to move it up a couple of notches and score.
Timo is about our most dangerous player at the moment, and as shown really fits in well with Ange-Ball given that the way Ange likes wide players. And i think in the future he would be the perfect squad player for us. A real no brainer for me that we should keep him at that price

If we cash in on Kulu I'd sign him, if not it's a no from me. Feel like we would have a 28 year old taking up a rotation spot that should be a youth team players. We need to make sure our youngsters don't leave the club because their playing time is being blocked.
We want to win starting next year. A 28 year old with experience (he won UCL) would be very useful in the next three years.

As ange says though it's not about ripping up the playbook for one trophy it's about long term stability, and that means promoting youth talent. Which we have in abundance right now.

I don't think we're giving our lads the time that they should be getting in the first team, and in turn creating long term sustainability for the club.
