  • This man isn't just a movie star, this man is a true ACTOR. He's brilliant.

    • Jake is such a pure artist, always striving to challenge himself, extremely hardworking and committed 100% to each role. He completely becomes the character. Such a rare gem. And he always seems so down-to-earth and humble.

  • I think Jake has been denied an Oscar for too long now. He was amazing and so raw in Brokeback Mountain, but his Oscar got taken away and for Nightcrawler, he wasn't even nominated! Give this man what he deserves!

    • What I heard is that he had an argument with his mother about this, which caused him to forget to mention the extra energy he should give when the script is good and demands that extra mile. Obviously what he said is true, to an extend ...

  • As a studying and aspiring actor, Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the few modern day male actors that I really look up to. His progression and transformation over the last 5-7 years has been amazing and I strongly believe that in 20-30 years we will look back at him as being one of the greats of his generation.

    • I got him, as for character role in one of my screenplay scripts in reference to what is and has been happening in the Middle East and serving in U.S. Air Force. I have an outline, but as far as developing it into integrated whole is where I am stuck (mentally constipated-lol) right now.

    • The problem with the general public verses Hollywood actors is that they are not appreciated for their first and foremost known talent, their acting, nor do a lot of trendy/groupie followers understand what good acting is really about. Well known persons such as Jake, Leonardo, Jared, Joseph, and Ryan, et al. are heavily adored and followed simply based on their 'looks' first, not really for their acting ability (my personal psychological study of the general public verses the well known and wealthy). As for my own interest toward to the famous, I closely observe them for their type of acting ability; the intensity and their ability in the character role they are assigned to play. By my own inspirations and creative writing interests, I have written several screenplays since 2009 that I personally think they (specific famous persons) would be good in as for character roles for varying historical to current time plots and themes of my own creative writings based on reality and the truth type of storylines.. His latest movie project called, 'Night Crawler' seems a little creepy. I recently saw him in 'Prisoners' and he was good in that along with the whole story of it too. My favorite of him was and still is: "The Prince of Persia". There have been too many low quality written and titled 'fiction' screenplays that could be developed much better than some of them have been for public viewing. My other favorite movies are the following as Jake was in one of them too: "Syriana", "Rendition", Devil's Advocate, and The International; the beginning of my small list of movie favorites. I have a short paragraph started so far, as for a dark psychological profile and plot for Jake G. and in reference to the Middle Eastern Countries and the awful events that have been transpiring there for quite sometime, but I won't share...you know how that goes as the TOP love to steal everyone's achievements or ideas. Have you come up with any screenplays yourself?

      @getyapaper@getyapaper9 жыл бұрын
    • getyapaper It takes a few years of acting for an actor to earn an important award, such as an Oscar. However, there are smaller awards given throughout the year from other supporting acting programs and shows to encourage them to continue in their works, but you're right; I haven't seen Jake win anything major as of yet. He plays some very interesting diverse character role parts. I wish I had a good personal vision as for Air Force Military theme and scene enactment Movie storyline for him to be in. (I am an amateur Movie Screenplay Writer) Someone should write a follow through (a second half of the Movie) script from the Movie called, "Prince of Persia" which he acted in back in 2012(?)

  • Interesting shared perspectives. As for writers whether through profession or not, like myself (a carry over from years and years of education), some of us have gone through very horrid real life experiences and one outlet in the healing process of malevolency to the expressing of creative ideas as for an escape, is to write about it. In my opinion, those who go through such horrific life events make the better writers because their story lines are based on truthful turmoil. Tragedies don't have to only happen through a loss of a loved one or a death, but in other forms as well that may be tragic mentally due to personal expectations and the outcomes of life and the meaning of success; INFLUENCES, PERCEPTIONS, EXPERIENCES, PEER RELATIONSHIPS- the integrated whole in the beginning of a possible great story line and or testimonials. Thanks Jake for being up-close and personal.

  • I agree what he's saying about the energy of the act and good script. Like for instance the show Vikings. I actually don't think the script ( dialogue) is that well written, compared to let's say game of thrones. But bloody hell its so captivating!!! I'm immersed in the show's energy, conviction in everything. So dialogue is secondary for me. The show, in my opinion, just works! Irrespective of mediocre dialogue.

    • It's a fun, over the top action movie, just like the original. It's a cool reimagining of the story, and there were some very funny scenes and lines. Not meant to be serious, meant to entertain, same as the first. The new one has plenty of Easter eggs in it, as a tribute to Patrick. Jake is so incredibly versatile. Next year he'll be doing a Shakespearen tragedy on Broadway.
