Wow! The ISRA #slotcar #worldchampionships in Latvia were such a blast. It was great to be back racing after all the disruption due to COVID. It was a very friendly event and I was super happy with my results #worldchampion
This video features the car that Gavin Wills and myself used to finish 2nd in the first class of racing. If you want to see how to build a JK C43 chassis then take a look at my series of videos here:

  • Congratulations to your very good result! Always nice to see that you also are good in practice, not only in theory. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for showing this.

  • Thanks for the tech, it inspires me to do some research. I need a higher refresh rate... couldn't really see the racing

    • That's not right how they measure axle should be on the side of chassis like you did it

  • hello there man !! - we also use this body here..its an Audi Dtm - Red fox. We use FK 4002 open with cusmomised arms...rebalanced......same chassis JK

    • Hi Chris. The body in the video is an ATTAN Tesla. We used the Red Fox Audi DTM at ISRA in 2019. The Tesla generates a little more grip than the Audi but has slightly more drag.

  • Far out! As you spoke, I quickly went to my preferred parts source, (in the US), only to learn that those exact arms. are about 10% dearer than my preferred brand's identical spec (without the ISRA). Good to know...I don't believe that bits should fry with the amount of use that the supplied gear would have endured for the race. My opinion only...thank you. ✌

    • All the S&K arms are hand wound and they are wound very nicely. I am sure they will improve the reliability of their armatures. These armatures would have been made at least two years ago so I know the process has improved since.

  • Is there a good video on the taxonomy of different types of chassis across different kids of racing in 1/24 and 1/32 scale? Plastic vs metal, ISRA vs NSR, etc.

  • Wow talk about a lucky dip with the motors. Where the arms brand new with full sized comms or were some reconditioned with reduced comm diameters? That would explain why some went up in smoke. Too much brush/comm overlap resulting in excessive dead short per rotation. Cars not starting by themselves and needing a push on a restarts is a dead give away. Oh and well done James!!

    • Thank you Fabio. According to the organisers, the armatures had all been run on track in setups to put them through a heat cycle and then they had been com trued and balanced before going into the handout motors.

  • New to slot car racing, your videos are a wealth of knowledge. Thank you! Also, what lexan body is that? I know there are different thicknesses, what was everyone running?

  • I've never seen a slot car without front wheels, mind you I've not raced since the 60s and 70s.

    @robertbuckner2353@robertbuckner2353 Жыл бұрын
    • In the fast classes of slot car racing the front wheels are just stickers on the body these days. Front wheels are used in Formula 1 and classes where they still race “scale models”.

  • Thanks for sharing all this great tech info with us. I don't race any high end stuff but it is so great to see how it is done. Flexi is as high tech as I get. The Eurosport stuff is way over my budget. I do have some older stuff though. Early 2000s Mack 1/24 and older. Just track cars to play with. What do you think of brushless motors???

    @mrwilson7617@mrwilson7617 Жыл бұрын
    • Flexi or Production racing is still quick and good fun. The racing can be very close. I think brushless motors would be good as a controlled class or for local club racing as they require less maintenance than brushed motors. Racing brushless in open classes releases a whole new can of worms with the potential for a lot of computer programming and fast development.

  • How do you decide how far the body comes back on the guide? Or do you have a gap before the guide? How big?

  • So i want to try making slot cars for the first time, is this similar to japanese tamiya mini 4WDs?

    @balfasladicra5270@balfasladicra5270 Жыл бұрын
    • I am sure there are engineering skills you could transfer into slot cars but I think the cars are very different from the Tamiya mini 4WD cars.
