Pakistan Political & Economic Crisis Explained | Is Pakistan on the verge of state collapse? The extreme political polarisation and consequent civil disturbances across the country after the arrest of Imran Khan have raised newer questions about the future of the Pakistani state and the power dynamics within the country. The insurrection-like situation in the country has further compounded the constitutional, institutional, economic and security crisis. The economy is in the doldrums with the forex reaching nadir, inflation skyrocketing, and industrial activity coming to a halt.
Between an establishment hell-bent on retaining its iron grip on power, and the populace disenchanted with ineffective governance of the military - what Pakistan faces right now is a crisis of the state. How will the military respond to this crisis? Is the military establishment still a unified organisation or is it divided on political lines? Will these actions be scrutinised by its domestic institutions, particularly the judiciary? How is the future likely to unfold? What implications will the unrest have on Pakistan’s stability and IMF negotiations? How will this impact Pakistan’s relations with its neighbours and the rest of the world? Our democracy is fasad. Politician define democracy as the government of the people, for the people, by the people. It is none of these things. It is neither by the people, nor of the people, nor for the people in India. In India The people who have been holding power down the centuries have always been able to persuade people that whatever is being done, is done for their sake. And the people have believed it because they have been trained to believe. It is a conspiracy between religion and state to exploit humanity. The comment about the US and broader west not having economic leverage is incorrect. Pakistan has very little export earnings or remittance from China. This is mostly from the West and therefore thats a big leverage. Its another matter that the west is choosing not to use it

Imran had a dismal foreign policy and had zero understanding of international relations. Right from the start he would say really dumb things in international forums and standing so blatantly upfront against the US and US officials was where he shot himself on the foot. The non confidence vote may have not been a direct American order but it may have been a way or an excuse for the military establishment and the old political parties to re assert their power in the country and tell the US, we are at your service. Don’t get me wrong, I was one of those that thought that Imran Khan could come in to bring change. The reality was that he was too novice in politics. He had to rely on “electables” the old political class and the military to come to power and being a student of international relations. I feel he did not have anyone in his team to advice him on strategic and international relations policies. It seems that Imran Khan has a very narcissistic personality who has a hard time listening to others and often just does what he wants. Often in a positive but also at times does blunders.
