Another good and very interesting video Simon , absolutely love your content , your never afraid to try anything 👏👏👏
The wrap has turned into quite a fun project ... more than a wrap.... all to be revealed soon !
I’ve had both my 110 and 90 L663’s wrapped……….. in Xpel Stealth Clear Gloss PPF to protect them from offroad bramble rash and scratches. My British Racing Green Mini Cooper S E has the same Xpel Stealth PPF on the bonnet and front wings. When I traded in the 110 the dealer knew it had been heavily offroaded and couldn’t believe how good the paintwork was. I only had one small damage to it after 3 years and that was where an A pillar trim detached at speed and torn the edge of the film - easily repaired by the firm that put the film on in 2020.
Hi Tim - PPF is really good I am just not so sure how tough the colour wrap films are...
Another good video Simon 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Thanks 👍 Cant wait to show the finished new look Stig !
Can’t wait to see the reveal! Full credit for giving it a try. You could have also given Post-it notes a go if you wanted The Stig to be bright yellow!
Go British Green
I wonder whether you have thought of getting seat covers to protect the inside? I have a D300 MY 23.5 D110 SE and have found that the front seat headrests which need to be removed to fit the seat cover requires removal of the back of the seat. Any chance of a video on removing the back of the front seats?
Simon….I never go anywhere scratchy….😬😀😀😀…..but ppf works well for SHMEE and I would certainly have it should I think of off roading….or as I found d out today, going to the local Church down a Cornish lane is another good place for it ( no scratches sustained because I reversed back out!). If I cannot get mud flaps for the L494 then I will get the lower parts wrapped to save them from gravel rash…..and the Stig…I suspect he might turn Army Green matt…!!! Also, I looked carefully at SCHMEE’s G Wagen after that super expensive peelable paint wrap..it was beautifully done but looked soft to me. Good thoughts on using knives for cutting…I have always thought that was a big risk with fine cuts everywhere! Stay safe..Richard.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
I’ve wrapped my 130 in Satin Titanium Turquoise, and it look insane!
Yes that would make it stand out !
Another cool video. Wrap is individual and only you need to like it. Yes it's relatively expensive but also relatively cheap. Even if it looks crap after a couple of years off roading, the original paint will be mint therefore saving a lot of money come selling. Keep up the good work. Personal request, more on the gap tool features please? There are so few of real world use videos, features and changes the normal person can do to their vehicles.
Yes we plan to do some with the Gen 4 tool very soon...
The bin could put it in the Centre console or on the passenger side where there storage bit is at the front of the 110 defender.👍😀
Very nice and interesting video 👌👌👍👍🙏🙏
I hope you will like the result Mr Virdi !
Boom Boom!!
Back on the top spot !
@@L663 I try.
Any plans on reviewing the genuine LR seat back storage VPLVS0181 and possibly looking into superior alternatives?
I have had this part on order with the dealers for months !
Hi Simon! How does the PPF hold up in very sunny, hot climates? Look forward to seeing the wrap videos 😊
living in Britain .. i think that's a bit outside Simons experience .. lol
Some of the older PPF films did struggle with the higher UV exposure and would go yellow....
PPF satin wrap is an option when buying any new Defender. Looks great on the green
£4K option
@@laurencefahey3132yeah but that's cheaper than aftermarket. Xpel ppf is expensive and top quality.
@@laurencefahey3132 that’s cheap for LR
Thats interesting - I will check this out when building my new Defender..........
Looking forward to a fascinating series on ppf wrapping Simon. What weird color have you chosen? Will the Stig emerge at the other end of ‘Spicy Lane’ unscathed? Are you brave enough to even attempt it? Oh, that reminds me…who said “We destroy our Defender so you don’t have to” 😂
The Stig is now wrapped and all will be revealed next week ! The wrapping guy is not sure that the coloured films ( not PPF ) will offer much protection from twings.... we may do a video testing its resilience to petrol / thinners / brake fluid etc
Simon, are there any car insurance implications in wrapping and technically changing the colour? Does the V5 need to be changed also?
Thanks for reminding me - i need to tell the DVLA
Hi Simon My 10 month old black defender 110 is awful 😞,the colour black is terrible as the undercoat is white/cream.. It scratches so easy.. I’m definitely looking at getting it wrapped at 3 years old,the wrap could be removed. Wish I had had it done from new
Our 90 is the same - it scratches just be looking at the car ! Hence you will never see the 90 anywhere scratchy !
Hi Simon could you make a plastic bin for the Land Rover 110
For which location - loving the fun people are having with your comment !
Very interesting, guess a wrap is also rust prevention. I’m guess metallic dark green?
Good guess…. But not correct…
You must have the world record for the most modifications to a Land Rover ever
Well its sort of what we do !
@@L663 It is fascinating, keep doing it. Love the ingenuity.
Can you make a bin for the Land Rover defender 110👍
Use a skip? 😱🙈😂🙏🦘
would need to be a big bin , unless you're cutting the defender into small pieces .. lol
Would be great to see what happens when you take it off road.
The guys at the wrap shop are worried that the wrap will not take too nicely to off road use... PPF would be fine.... do people PPF a colour wrapped car !
My defender took 5 days to wrap 2 days not possible for a big SUV unless your not wrapping the entire car.
It took more than 2 days but they did not wrap the whole car - just the bottom part - not the bumpers - not the scuttle panel.
@@L663 makes sense cant wait to see yours.
Great to see you at Gaydon yesterday, Simon, and the wrapped Stig looks wonderful 👍 but I won't reveal the colour here, I won't spoil the surprise. 😉 I hope you have a good day at Gaydon today.
It might be OK with owners of "Piss and Giggle little cars ,But NOT for the Land Rover ,Stig looks Great as it is . Simon -- Behave Yourself please IF you must do something put a Massive big "Land Rover " logo over the rear section . -Oh No !! Your doing it !! Simon Its "Tacky " Dont do it .
I was in two minds on this.... but hold judgement till the final thing is revealed next week.....
The wrapping stopped me buying a carpathian , what is the point 🙄 It’s like leaving the plastic wrapping on your new sofa for years and we all know what sort of people do that 😂 People get conned into so much bull when they buy a car these days,
What's the point? The clear ppf looks exactly like factory but protects the paint and the satin ppf changes the look to a flat and has self healing properties so it's superior when off-roading.
It depends on what are doing with the car - for most people PPF is an insurance they will never need ! and the white paint on the stig has been really really good.... but i think on the black it may be a good option - if you live in the countryside
