From Series 7: Put exactly 50 different things in this bin. The time starts when Alex touches your shoulder and ends once you declare there are 50 things in the bin.

In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
It genuinely shocks me how James was able to make such a wonderful abstract interpretation of Greg and Alex's faces... from a smashed-up ukulele and a bunch of pebbles. While on the clock, no less.
(I think) if you had lots more/unlimited time to decide how to use the objects you'd be more likely to be paralysed with choice. Under time pressure you're more likely to go "Okay, do.......something and then see what happens"
That bonus point wasn’t an act of charity to Phil. It was a failure to disqualify everyone else.
Exactly He would have been a lot faster / others would have been a lot slower One point isn't enough
I came down here for exactly this sentiment. 0-1 point for everybody else and 5 for Phil by default. I will die on this hill. Well, I will get mildly parched on this hill.
I disagree, on a technicality (The best method to disagreeing). If Alex (or Greg) would have asked me if I had 50 different things, I would answer, "yes, this is a pebble, and that is a *different* pebble". So no disqualifications needed :) That being said, Phil definitely deserved at least 2 points for his result.
@@theplasmawolf I'd argue that the challenge with no fine print would be "Put exactly 50 items in the bin." In your interpretation, "different" is redundant because of course one pebble is not 50 pebbles. It doesn't need to be specified that they have to be separate pebbles. Therefore, the inclusion of "different" implies that they must differ from each other, and while pebbles may be like snowflakes they just don't differ that much from one to the next.
@@RapsCalorie 'they just don't differ that much' which is another way to say they differ from one to the next. that task was not 'put 50 completely dissimilar things in the bin'. though if it was that would open up even more questions of interpretation. i was expecting more people to fail the 'your time stops when' clause :D
0:30 Alex like 95% sure James is winding him up, but 5% wondering if the production crew have stitched him up instead.
There's also the chance James would do it just for fun
@@genericname2747true I know I actually would do the fitting him in the bin & rolling him down the hill part like I said.
Can't believe Rhod got 4 points for the leafy duck lol
As a fan of caricature, James's piece is possibly the best work of visual art in the history of Taskmaster
Phil was honesty rhobbed
On both of them, IMO.
Loved the touch of all five of them counting to 50 together, the editors are always on point with this show
I just rewatched this series over the past week, and there are so many things I like about this task. Rhod running away, Jessica putting art supplies in but not actually using them in the second task, Phil being the only one to really do the first task properly, another instance of James's "suck it" catchphrase (and his Willoughby smug face when he wins a task), and obviously all of part 2.
What's a Willoughby smug face?
@@ruqayyahqadri8180 it’s the facial expression of the bear his mother allegedly made to replace him 😂 he tells the story on an episode of Cats does Countdown.
@sarahbea9327 ah thanks, I think I remember now.
Love how this opens when Alex touches them. The girls just stand there whereas the boys go chaos and run about
Jess's disgust at Alex's touch made me laugh.
James always amazes me! Not only did he shout Suck It! But he also managed to make a very good interpretation of Greg with pebbles and a ukulele. Thats pretty awesome.
0:26 Your time stops when you say, "I've put exactly fifty different things in this bin." 2:39 "I've put exactly fifty things in this bin. Suck it." James failed to say the word "different"... 2:47 "I've put fifty things in this bin." Phil failed to say the words "exactly" and "different"... 2:49 "I've put exactly fifty different... different things!" James, Phil and Jessica have yet to complete the first part of the task. The time they have taken so far is approximately five years.
As Frankie Boyle once said, this is a show about pedantry.
Yup. . I remember that happened once in my country's version of this, one of the contestants being really smug, about to win because of the five points, only to be told his time was still running cause he didn't say / do the thing to end the task :D
James’s portrait belongs in a video with Mark + Nish’s song, Liza’s bum cake, Joe’s firework cake, Richard’s wine commercial, and any other masterpieces that I can’t remember right now. Just call if Taskmaster Masterpieces.
I‘d like to add: Tree wizard, Cul-de-sac & Feelings, “Me Fern Brady”, and the WOW monster
Mark and Nish can try, but they'll never be....good enough!
Mike undermining the vole is still my favorite
"Taskmasterpiece" is right there!
Kerry's looked actually so much more like Greg than Rhod's
Rhod was favoured beyond belief in this series. Just glad Kerry won regardless.
I quite like it when Greg goes into full king-emperor-dictator mode and rewards the most flattering portrait, rather than most accurate. 😅
Absolutely. Kerry deserved second place. I might even rank Jess’s portrait over Rhod’s.
@@Kep27966Rhod’s was clearly the worst. Just like the man himself.
@@Mubashir_AK yeah the favoritism for rhod was quite off putting all series. greg doesn't seem like the type to do that but i suppose his unconscious bias factored in
"its an angry birds pig" 😂
Phil's bulge is the real masterpiece. Just kidding it's Acaster's smashed uke. Truly love it.
Seeing him break that ukelele tore up something deep in my soul
After giving Phil his rightly deserved bonuspoint, the taskmaster should have given him a minus point for forgetting to say 'exactly'.
Phil's was a f'ing work of art!
And so was his portrait.
"Touch Alex in his special place, time starts after he touches you on yours" - Greg
i absolutely loved this series, so glad this was recommended to me
Hands down, James’s best task in the whole series.
You know what greatly amuses me about this? Even more than the hilarious way Alex is chasing them? That when James reads the wrong task, Alex is genuinely perplexed and investigates. It's like he wouldn't put it past Greg at all to swap the tasks on him like that hahaha
Funny how he says "if I could give you 10 I would" and then doesn't... he IS the taskmaster isn't he?
I mean, James won both halves of the Task, so technically he did get 10 points from that
Phil's was actually kind of impressive. It clearly looks like an Angry Birds pig, but unfortunately, that wasn't the task.
Still the best season hands down
i just love this show!
I would have done the fitting Alex in the bin & rolling him down the hill part.
Rhod Gilbert's picture looks oddly like a self portrait
i was half expecting them to penalize half of them for not saying "i put exactly fifty different things in this bin" accurately and tell them their time never stopped
This is your sign to rewatch season 7! (Still the best season imho even though season 14 came very close.)
I still think James got snubbed by 5 points He should have been the champion of s7
rhod getting 3 points more than he deserves just like every task
rhod being 3x funnier than everyone else on a comedy show XD
It's Greg's decision on an image of Greg. If he likes being portrayed as a rabid duck, he likes being portrayed as a rabid duck.
It felt good when James finally accused Greg of bias towards Rhod.
Wang is really living up to his name
Ah yes, the task in which Phil Wang was truly royally screwed. Honestly for me this is worse than Hugh's ringtone ruling, since he got cheated on both parts of the task. He should have had an instant first place in the first part for actually following the instructions ('different' being the key word, if the items could be the same as each other, there is no point of that word being there whatsoever), and his portrait was far better than Kerry's and especially Rhod's. I also think Jess' portrait deserved more, despite her dumbness regarding the paint tools. It's definitely a shame because Phil was only a couple of points from winning the episode, the closest he got to doing so, and even if he was scored more fairly on either part of this task it would have been enough to secure the win.
I agree with Greg on the scoring of the portraits.
What are you talking about?! Kerry's was the only one that actually looked like Greg.
The "different" was to ensure someone couldn't put an object in the bin, take it out, then out it in the bin again and repeating until you have put the same object in the bin (then taken it out again) 50 times (although only taking it out 49 times).
Jess' portrait? The one where she used a rope/string and wasn't able to make it into the shape of a face?
Youre just wrong
Phil was the only one who did this task correctly. 5 points from me.
Nope
James is going to be the next Sean Lock. RIP big dog
Travesty for Phil, he should have automatic first place
James' masterpiece!! 🙌
I think I would have deducted one point from James for the "Suck it!" - although possibly redeemed by the cat bin lady comment.
A thought: time stops when they say the words. Nothing said they actually had to have 50 things at the time of saying it. So you could just say it immediately, stop the timer, and fill the bin at your leisure. Good use of negative space by Rhod and James
Just put yourself in there you have at least 50 different organs in your body.
I would've put alex in there and said "there are 50 different bones"
Not exactly 50
@@jenelaina5665 take some out then??
@@AtomixKinggThat could be potentially illegal.
@@katharina..."All the instructions were on the task, officer"

Where did Phil get the bra from?
Phil's is pretty good.
Battle of the bulge 😂
I love these short form videos! Do you guys air on TV or just youtube?
They air on TV in Great Britain and there are international versions that air too.
I'd have put a pack of cards in there. They are all individually different!
You put 52 things in the bin. Disqualified.
@@47Jaspers Hahaha! 54 if there's two Jokers in there.
@@Elwaves2925 55, counting the box itself
@@Pikaton659 That too.
If someone just got into the bin would that count?
Kerry's actually looks like him
The opposite task of putting 50 different things in a bin is putting 50 of the same thing in a bin. Only Phil should get points :'(
No, the opposite is not putting 50 things in the bin. The "different" in the task is there to prevent someone from putting an object in the bin, taking it out, putting it in, taking it out, etc until they have put it in the bin 50 times.
@@lisahenry20 Clearly English is not your core language 😂 Great attempt though!
@@Johnny-Joseph as someone who's main language is English, methinks you are being closed minded and are not considered all possibilities.
@@Johnny-Josephif i have 50 different pebbles and put them in the bin, that's 50 different things. Are you really this dense to insult someone else's english when you're being pedantic at best and idiotic at worst?
I'm legitimately angry about screwing over Phil. He deserved 1st place for actually doing the task without breaking the rules. We're I British I'd be righting a VERY strongly worded letter to the BBC.
Imagine putting hours into lovingly crafting a violin, carving it very precisely, tuning it perfectly, just for James Acaster to break it over his knee.
I'm pretty sure those were just cheap mass-produced ukuleles. This show has quite the budget, but i doubt even they would be wasting it by getting proper artisan instruments just for a gag
Phil 5 and 5 to fastest very simple done n done on to the next. Why faf about
That was a deeply disappointing ruling. What happened to specifics? There was exact words to say, many failed them. The actual task was to load 50 different things. More failed that. Just terrible ruling
What's the point of saying 50 different things instead of just 50 things, if it could just be 50 rocks? Disqualify them all, especially those who said the last line incomplete.
theres a much easier way to do this.... if you think about it, there are way more than 50 individual air molecules inside the bin, as soon as the time started they finished, and gotten millions of things inside the bin 😉
and technically each air molecule is different, it's not like the one next to it, or the one next to that, or the one next to that... you get the point
and for the second half, again I finished as soon as it started, it's just so good nobody can see it
That yellow outfit is pulling all my focus away from the rest of the show
Phil robbed twice in this episode
*3 times, first with his piano key that Greg scored low because of the stupid reason that he assumed it was a stock photo, and then with both parts of this task. And yet it was his best scoring episode, only 2 points off from winning, so he could have easily won the episode with some better scoring in the tasks above.
I would just write the word "things" 50 different ways on little pieces of paper and drop them in. Guaranteed fastest time. OR!!! Write "exactly 50 different things" on a piece of paper, and drop it in. Done! 5 Points please.
writing words 50 times is definitely slower than just picking up random things from the house
Gregg has his favourite in each series, just a coincidence that it's usually a good friend. He is biased and it's very obvious rewatching the show.
Only sometimes. This one I think he scored the portraits fairly.
So I have an amazing idea. We start a USA version of this show that runs concurrently with the original version. Then at the end of the season the top three British and the top three Americans do an episode together. S*** would be hilarious!
My solution to Challenge 1: Get Alex in the bin! Shoes, socks, trousers, pants (well, hopefully pants, might have to verify) top, jacket, hair, eyes, ears, mouth, nose, eyelashes, teeth, a variety of human organs that I cannot vouch for plus all sense of dignity...actually, hang on, that's probably more than 50 bits, isn't it? Makes Challenge 2 a bit of a problem too...posing session Vogue?
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
First
I can't believe he let them off with just throwing 50 rocks in the bin. That's not what the task was at all. The task said "different" things. I guess the tasks are meaningless now.
If they really stuck to the 'must be different' rule then they would all have been disqualified at stage 1.
smh my head can't believe they're ruining the competitive integrity of Taskmaster
To be fair, they were 50 different rocks. He didn't throw 50 of the same rock in the bin. 50 of the same "kind" of rock, sure, but not 50 of the same rock.
@@JlundeenAlso, if they were the same rock, they'd have exactly the same shape, size, colour etc.
you must be fun at parties
It's funny to think that most of the clips from this season will be removed from youtube thanks to the guy in the yellow jumpsuit thinking showing his penis off like that was cool.. :p
How is a leaf a different thing to a leaf? A stone is s different thing to a stone? Should be Phil 5 everyone else 0 for the first part. This series has the worst judging, especially with rhod
