Spray Can Chrome Showdown Revell Chrom Spray Rustoleum Mirror Finish Bright Coat Duplicolor Chrome Krylon Brilliant Aluminum IronLak Chrome Scale Model Review How To Paint Plastic Metallic Styrene 39628
Give your model the perfect finishing touch with Revell Chrome Spray. Easy-to-apply Chrome Spray lets you enhance all your model's chrome parts with a high-quality sheen - for an even more realistic and detailed look. Revell Chrome Spray is a must for advanced model building hobbyists who set high standards for their finished models. The chrome finish effects are truly impressive.
Aerosol paint (commonly spray paint) is paint that comes in a sealed, pressurized container and is released in an aerosol spray when a valve button is depressed. Aerosol painting is one form of spray painting; it leaves a smooth, even coat, unlike many traditional rolled and brushed paints. Standard-sized cans are lightweight, portable, inexpensive, and easy to store. Aerosol primer can be applied directly to bare metal and many plastics.
Graffiti artists are known to use spray paint because the medium is quick, permanent, and portable. The origin of the product, however, dates back to 1949, when it was designed for the very practical purpose of applying aluminum paint coatings to radiators.
Chrome plating (less commonly chromium plating) is a technique of electroplating a thin layer of chromium onto a metal object. A chrome plated part is called chrome, or is said to have been chromed. The chromium layer can be decorative, provide corrosion resistance, facilitate cleaning, or increase surface hardness. Sometimes, a less expensive substitute for chrome such as nickel may be used for aesthetic purposes.
Chromium compounds used in electroplating are toxic. In most countries, their disposal is tightly regulated. Some fume suppressants used to control the emission of airborne chromium from plating baths are also toxic, making disposal even more difficult.
" my hand hasn't moved that fast since i was thirteen " LOL!
Chris is on fire today

Stiil moving after all those years

The Revell Chrom Spray is ABSOLUTELY the winner! WOW! That stuff has me sold on it! Thanks for the video.
$30 a can... I guess you get what you pay for!
One of the last honest reviewers left online. Amazing review
THANK YOU Chris !!! Lot of work that is greatly appreciated!!
wow what a great analysis. Props to Revell
Perfect presentation!
I like the into "take your lil fingers and type it in google" 😂 gotta love this guy, no bs attitude
Thank you for an outstanding test of the various chromes. Much appreciated!!!
Thank you for that video Chris. It's helpful in more than one way, as some of us don't necessarilly look for a perfect chrome; sometimes you want a duller or aged chrome depending on the project, like a derelict or patina'd car. I was a bit bummed at first seeing this wednesday's video wasn't a model kit, but turns out I'm really grateful for that video!
I'm glad you took the time to show the workmanship of excitement. Thank you!
Fantastic video!!!! Revell is it! True, you get what you pay for! Thx
Thanks for the great learning experience!
This was so helpful! Thank you for this! 🙏🙌
I'm so glad you made this video I've been on the search for the best chrome spray. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the comparisons! Helps a lot
Thank you for sorting all that out for us.
Thanks so much! An excellent well thought out test.
Very informative. Thanks Chris.
This was awesome! Thank you!
Thanks for the video. Your great.
Thanks for the video! Great information!
Great video Chris. The Revell paint sure did good in this test. Maybe a video update on how durable each paint is would be popular. 👍
so revel chrome paint is best? then clearcoat?
@@AckzaTV yes.
you accidentally said Rustoleum at 22:35, but you meant Revell :) @@nicoschroeder5379
thank, you for sharing you're helpful video
Very thorough and helpful review
Excellent video Chris, very informative 👍, thanks!
Awesome always cool stuff always thanks 😎
Never realized there were this many options. Thanks for showing them, makes easier for us.
thank you for this video, it helps us all without having to buy everyone to test them. Much appreciated!
Great review Chris! That helps a lot! 😎👍🏾
Great vid, thank you much

Great video Thank You
Great helpful video!!!
Great video Chris and lots of great ideas for painting chrome 😊
...excellent review...thanx for that HUUGE effort!!!
Thanks Chris !
Fantastic Chris!
Very helpful video gives a lot of options
Awesome job.
This was awesome, thank you for testing all these spray chromes and yes, quite obvious the Revell wins by a landslide!
i have graduated to an airbrush, but before I would use the simple Rustoleum metallic. I got decent results. The Revell paint though is the winner.
Great Video some funny comments which makes it fun to watch but great test of all these products saves me time trying them thanks for posting.
Thanks for the great comparison Chris, thats one hell of a fleet of helping hands you have!
Thanks for sharing
This is a great review and very informative. I just subscribed. Thanks for the work and expense that you went to for us modelers.
Cool and useful as always.
You saved us all from buying a half dozen useless cans of paint, thank you! That savings can go towards the Revell chrome spray!
Thank you so much for your hard work. I just found German technology I needed
I knew the Revell chrome would win this contest, as it is a far better product than anything else on the market. But $30+ for a can is a little ridiculous. I’m sure I will bite the bullet and get some. Thanks for sharing.
Try $40
Excellent job, Chris, and yes, I do enjoy these comparison videos. Keep them coming!!
Thanks! Will do!
Thanks so much! I'm working on a plastic torso, i want to paint chrome. Been really helpful. Now finding the paint.
Great episode again Chris..
Great video! ❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦
Cool video. I think that a lot of these paints would have more of a shine over gloss black. I know that AK chrome requires a gloss black base. The downside to the Revell paint is that it's $35 and can plus shipping.
That’s so expensive, that’s like 60$
Agreed, gloss black would give it a deeper chrome look.
I just bought the Revell Chrom Spray & paid $32😖I love it so much I just had to have it!😅
Great review and Video, very well done. Thanks for sharing, have a great weekend. -David
This video was awesome. Would love to see all the spoons then get a sprayed clear coat since clear over chrome seems to be a mystery.
Great video. If you find more versions of “Chrome” paint, maybe put them up against the Revell paint. Keep ‘em coming.
great vid
This is one of the most helpful & instructional videos you have ever done. Exposing what is good to what isn't. I am watching live streams where the very subject is spraying chrome. I am going to refer this video like crazy. One of those paints you have buffs out shiny like crazy. I just read that on comments from Oz scale modeling's live stream today.
Glad it was helpful!
Big thanks for doing this. Really love seeing how paints look out of the can as the cap color and what the label claims it to be are rarely accurate.
Free Palestine!
Yeah all the chrome paints are so misleading. Great video Chris, keep em coming I'll keep watching watching.
Great vid. Thanks for the info. I’ve used the Rustoleum Bright Coat for NMF on aircraft models and it works very well. I just takes several light coats.
Wow! Great video. I would never have the resources or the time to do anything near this to determine a good chrome paint, but I sure as heck am glade you do! New sub.
Nice review sir!
That's not what we're testing, so shut up!!! I love a channel like this.
Thanks for doing the “footwork “ for us Chris. Nice looking expensive chrome !!!!
Without access to a full lab this is a very honest test/review Chris. Maybe I need to start looking at some other Chromes as I tend to only use Molotov. The Revell is a difinite winner for a BRIGHT CHROME finish. Rustoleum Bright Chrome Finish seemed to really run on the unpainted spoon
Having sprayed some model car bodies with the Revell chrome I can agree that it’s very good, didn’t realise it was hard to get, I had no trouble and I only used it as it was the first chrome spray I found, seems I found the best :) Thanks for the effort you put in, great informative video
where did you find the spray?
@@nicolettew6479 sorry for late reply, found it on eBay, I’m in England
Great video Chris and much appreciated. I have tried the Testors and the Rustoleum Bright Chrome. The Rusto was the best I found up til now. Not great but was acceptable. Now the Revell is a game changer. Have to try it but oh the price. I don’t yet have an airbrush so haven't tried AK or other airbrush chrome. I did enjoy this comparison.
Great video mate👍
The paint manufacturers consider "chrome" to be a color. Notice they do not say "polished chrome". That is because "chrome" is just a type of "silver" color. IMO, none of them look like chrome except for Revell which comes very close.
Wow the unprimed looks the best. Well I just ordered some, thanks for this review.
Chris, here's my card number, just take it and give me what's left of that Revell chrome!
Brilliant! - Thank you so much. Apart from the model making I have been restoring some vintage cycle, battery and dynamo lamps. The 'vacuumed' chrome coating on the plastic bulb reflectors have often peeled off (or just plain 'evaporated'?) leaving bare non-reflective plastic and had got me stumped. Sending them away for re-vacuum chrome plating was going to be Extortionate $$$$$ The Revell chrome paint - Brilliant. The reflectors will look about as near to 'factory' as possible. Again, thank you so much.
OMG ! Thank you so much! Now...like you've said ... Have to find some !!! 😂
"So shut up" 😂😂😂 Absolutley the best! Thank you!
Revell hands down
A good review. I've never had any luck with Chrome paint.
thanks for the video ~ KR AndyT(UK) great video
This was a great video!! Fun and professional. I have tried many of the paints you demonstrated, but I always wondered if the proverbial "chrome in a can" actually existed. Yes, it is...Revell. I have never even heard of the brand. Now I'm off to search for it. Thank you for puting decades of curiosity to rest! ✌️
Glad to see the stock back up ! Just ordered and your online system was smooth using Paypal ! Thank you and will give an update ! BTW Great detailed Video .
Very good, useful video. Thanks for doing this. I'd be very interested in seeing how the top 3 do after applying primer, sanding with 600/1000/1500/maybe 2000-grit paper to make it pretty smooth, and then applying gloss black over the primer to see what the results are, especially with the Interlak, because I suspect that one has a lot of promise.
This is a great video. I have experimented with several chrome paints also. I have to agree the Revell is the best/easiest. Molotow thru an airbrush is real close. I just wish there was a way to have real chrome plating done similar to what Chrometech USA used to do. No spray chrome looks as good as real plating.
Good to know what works best on plastic and what doesn't. I'm currently using Rust-oleum bright coat which works good for the builds I do. As with all paints and finishes, it boils down to what effects you're looking for and what you're willing to pay for it. I just do my kits for fun so I try to stay within a price range for the paints. It also pays to shop around to see where to get the best deals.
1:03 Thank you sir. I like your Style. “So Shut Up”… Well Stated. 😂
FANTASTIC test, Chris! Love how you did everything the same, and with vs without primer. One caution to viewers: I've read MANY reports that ANY kind of clear, even Future, over the Revell Chrom SEVERELY dulls the finish. So Chris, a sweet addendum test would be for you to try a few clears & Future over some spoons sprayed with the Revell.
Yeah...the clear coat ruins the chrome effect..really hope that someone finds a clear coat, that will work with Revell...
I’m laughing, fun review…..subscribed!! “A lot of you have been enjoying Dupli-cover”…….yeah, she’s real sweet 🤣
I could have saved you $$$$ amount db's told you the results... 🤣🤣🤣🤣... Spectra Chrome, the BEST advanced spray on chrome there is 🤘
It's a Cruel Summer..elevator Muzac style....love it
Chris, that was fun! I sometimes wonder if you're sniffing the pines out there in the woods -- whatever gets you by. Wonderful video -- you did a great job. The only thing I would add is that it you're going to "chrome" one bumper it will look better if you paint all the chrome trim at the same time. It may not look exactly like plating but it may have a passable scale chrome finish, and that will work better if it's all the same. Now I'm going to have to search for my penny jar to buy some Revell spray chrome.
Great video. Your old How To Paint With Cheap Spray Paint video inspired me to turn out better kits. I always watch and enjoy your builds but would like to see more tech videos like this one. You do make it a point to show the materials you use and I appreciate that, though sometimes I feel like I miss something in the "final Assembly" portion of the videos - maybe a little more in-depth there? Just my two cents. Keep up the great work (and I still love the music!)
Love this comparison video!! you have performed a modeling and car restoration community service!! Just wish I could give you TWO thumbs up and then Two big toes up as a bonus salute.
You just saved me like 100 bucks/quid in farting around buying different paint cans. Thank you!
Great video! Revell Chrom now cannot buy anywhere lol.... I'll grab the Rust-oleum Bright Coat, seems decent enough.
