Ingemar Johansson chocked the world as he became the first European to win the Heavyweight Championship of the World in 25 years, he now defends it against former champion, Floyd Patterson. Probably for its significance, rather than its entertainment values, this second meeting would be called Fight of the Year for 1960.

My father felt an anger like he never felt before in this fight. I remember him sayin he never wanted to feel like that again when he fought someone. He was always so proud that he was the first. I heard the fight on radio and was thrilled to hear Pat win. Ingo was the Ugly Foreigner then.....

Fight was fixed by Blinky Palermo.
First fight was a fluke Floyd got caught cold. Glad he took care of business in re-match. Ingo couldn't fight a lick. there was talk of a Ingo and Liston fight at one time. What a joke that would have been. Met Floyd several times. He was a real class act and a real gentleman.
Ingo was doped when entering the ring in this match. Only a shadow of the fighter from the yr before. Totally unfocused and slow. Even fall asleep waiting for the call before the fight. How this could happen was explained by Ingos ex wife after Ingo passed away some yrs ago. Ingo as the true sportsman he was never wanted to comment on this.
Ingo on one occasion said that he found himself sitting smiling in his corner in the ring seconds away from the expecting bell to ring. That's the only comment from Ingo with regards to the suspicion of him being drugged by someone that I've heard.
