I really like how the tone of this song isn’t one of certain triumph or absolute despair, it’s one of quiet resolve, acceptance of what must be done, and what it will cost. At least that’s how I see it
Well spoken

Heh Kobra dad.
1:40 hits so hard
its not just a 'final boss theme'. its a story. it covers the moment alear wakes up, to the pride and arrogance they feel in chapter 10, believing they can defeat and end sombron then and there. then the crescendo breaks along with alear's hope, into something humble as it is mournful. its melancholic in its understanding. but hope is not lost. the heroic return on the next musical rise, and the last cacophony is our final fight. you're here now, at the end. to avenge lives lost not just a few chapters ago, but a thousand years ago. alear's mother, their siblings, the children discarded and thrown away. you aren't fighting to win, you're fighting to keep promises. you're fighting to save people. it doesnt have to be any latin-chanting, god-slaying orchestral. because alear isnt a godslayer - theyre a hero, fallen and risen again. this song is alear's development as a character.
Ok, if you put it like that, it makes super sense, and it makes me like the song even more. Damn.
Oh it is a final boss theme it's Alear's final boss theme lol
Apex of the world, god shattering star, etc. Are amazing pieces, but I have to admit, That in the Context of the scene this song is simply amazing. Like you said, it's like a musical rendition of the Story that Alear went through and that's fantastic 😄

This sounds like not a final boss theme, but rather a reminder on how far you have come, from facing good moments where you felt powerful and moments where you felt hopeless, this is a reminder of that, it also had that space like tune to it and this song reminds you that it’s not over, that there is still a shimmer of hope, that is what I like about this theme
The fire emblem main theme motif glitch remix is a nice touch considering the context of the final map and the whole game in general

Gross
1:40 I'd like to say that here you start hearing the emblems and dark emblems starting a chorus of light and dark in a foreign language.
This theme screams "We're gonna kick this guy's ass and nothing will stop us"
I mean, it's no God-Shattering Star and or Twilight of the Gods but... it's a bop. I like it, and it gets you on that nostalgic mood.
Well said
Yeah I'd say this is a nice bop, and the melancholic first part is what sets it apart from the other ingame renditions of the main theme.
God Shattering Star is grossly overrated, the vocals hard carry that song as the instrumental is pretty mediocre by FE standards.

@@eevieamalee2056 yeah this song was mediocre and The story awful. Three hiuses hâd a complex story and edekgard was a complex villain. Not like în engage with awful villains and awful characters that have no personality and worship The Main character cuz he îs a divine dragon.
@@mihaimercenarul7467" three houses had a Complex story" The story in question: "Me no like church", "I have trauma", Racism Bad". I liked three houses, I thought it was fun but calling it Complex is a huuuuge stretch.
The whole first half with the buildup and all the 8-bit sounds and choir makes me so nostalgic not necessarily for Fire Emblem since I only started with Fates as a whole, but for stuff like PengoSolvent and other half-obscure dream pop musicians from the early 2010s I grew up watching. And starting from 2:51 the Engage sample and the techno/EDM afterwards (particularly starting from 3:47) just feels so good to listen to. I didn't expect myself to like this song so much but this turned out to be one of my favorite songs from the franchise.
This final battle was so good although its simple seeing "them" return really brought out old memories of fighting the "Demon King", "Mad Father" and several others with this kinda nostalgic music made it amazing. sometimes I just wanna slay the Fell Dragon and save the world
A small thing that I love regarding the title of the song (spoilers for end game): We’re told that Divine Dragons use prayers to summon, and Fell Dragons use incantations, yet Alear, a fusion of both Fell and Divine, does both. Yet, it may surprise some to hear Alear even prays at all. After all, to whom? He’s the deity everyone reveres, and he doesn’t seem to pray like Pandreo or Mauvier or other religious people in the game… And yet, it asserts that Alear’s simple phrases, ones he says to pass his feelings on to the Emblems, or even his friends or family, are just as much prayers as the solemn ones offered by other characters or such as by many in the Church of Seiros. Alear often briefly closes his eyes for these “prayers”, although not always, but the consistent thing is he’s always trying to make his true feelings known to someone, which is the exact opposite of what he could do when he was only a Fell Dragon. In other words, the game asserts that prayers can take many forms. They aren’t all formal and solemn; some are simply extremely short affirmations of one’s true feelings and desires towards a close friend. But those are still prayers nonetheless. Learning to be so open, honest, kind, and hopeful, is what makes words go from nice sentiments, to something holier, something Divine… and I think there’s something cool about that interpretation, even applying it to our own world.
I like to to think he is praying to Lumera, his mother. She was also revered and Alear had a close bond with her. It's like a mother-son bond and he feels connected to her through those prayers. After all, she was the one who made Alear a half divine dragon. I never really thought about who Alear might be praying to. Glad you pointed that out!
She (female in my story) most likely prays to *everyone* - the spirit of her mother, her long lost siblings, the Emblems themselves to guide her and her loved ones so that they may blast through all evil and build a better world together.
It's even pointed out in Lady Anna and Mauvier support that prayers don't need to be sent to someone
I was crying before this battle started and the whole time this song just feels bittersweet Like yeaa we can end sombron but.. were about to lose 12 friends and they have to relive fighting their worst enemies

We need more fire emblem games with engage gameplay. I played all of they not counting genealogy of the holy war and thracia 776 and i can safely say that engage was my favourite of all fire emblem games.
@@Joaogui13 Then get out your phone
@@AkameGaKillfan777 can i ask why? Is it because you don't like people enjoying engage? The gameplay of engage is the best in the series while three houses (who people praise like it's the best thing ever made, which is not) failed in the gameplay, being boring.
@@Joaogui13 Engage is Heroes 2.0 Console Edition with its mechanics. The skill system, bond rings, reduced movement, and especially orbs just scream: "This is what it's like on mobile! Are you interested yet?" And that's without mentioning how they went backwards with the class system, skirmishes, meals, horribly rushed and implemented DLC, and no replay or Post-game content. But as usual, the average Engage stan that's bitter about their, soulless, corporate, derivative and uninspired product needs to drag down 3H like its gameplay is E.T. on the Atari because they can't stand the fact that the game filled with creativity and effort is more memorable and successful, only proving even further that Engage itself doesn't succeed on its own merits, and tried to ride the wave of previous, superior FEs to become a hit, when it most likely just managed to break even.
I came here to let it be known that I finished Engage today, beating the final boss in the most anime-esque way possible. (Spoilers below of course.) I could have just finished off the fight with a single shot from Alcryst but that felt really boring and anticlimactic, so instead, my friend and I spent the next like 30 minutes trying to find a way to not only one-cycle Sombron, but also dealing the final blow using *Bond Blast* with Alcryst + Alear (since I decided to give him the pact ring). I thought it was impossible due to Alear not having any Emblem energy left and being too far out of reach from Alcryst and any energy tiles at the time, plus Seadall was on the other side of the map (and our Byleth user had no emblem energy left either). We thought about using Ike to reposition Alear closer to an energy circle so they could recharge, but there was still the problem of getting Alear to move again so that they could actually Engage+ with Alcryst. We had a warp staff with 1 use left, but that wasn't really enough... ...and then, I remembered that Mauvier had *Rescue.* With that in mind I was able to rescue Seadall, have Hortensia trade her warp staff to Ivy, have Ivy fly downward and warp Seadall closer to Alear, and from there I was able to Engage+ and Engage Blast Sombron to death. The best part? After rewatching the clip, I realized that I had pressed "attack" AT THE BEAT DROP (2:51), completely unintentionally. In that moment Alcryst really said "don't fuck with me, I've got the power of god and anime on my side". Shit's crazy. Honestly that's what I love about Fire Emblem, sometimes you just come up with very elaborate strategies for the silliest of things and feel very smart about them when they actually work. (EDIT: Looking at the clip again, I think it's awesome that the battle forecast initially predicted the attack to do 24-25-28 dmg totaling 77, but then Alcryst activated Luna on both of his turns, making it instead do 24-39-41 dmg totaling 104. That was enough to take out an entire one of Sombron's health bars. That's insane.)
I did something similar hehe. I used the Pact Ring on Etie (she's very usable on Hard Mode) and I used the Engage+ on her before going to Sombron's last life and used Dragon Blast, then Canter to make space for Etie who followed up with a Bond Blast.
Absolutely. I had each character fight their way through all the Dark Emblems and then used Female Alear and Veyle power up with Emblem Eternal, Dragon Blasting Sombron before wiping him out once and for all using Bond Blast. The two sisters who had suffered the most under his claws and were almost manipulated into despising and killing each other because of him are the ones whose acts of love are enough to bring them together in this final moment, and very appropriately it was their Bond Blast that obliterated their wicked "father" just as the electric guitar soared in the climax of the song.
@@rosesongoku6980I don't have this game yet, but when I buy it (and I will buy it eventually, when I have the money lol), I will literally wait there with Alear and Veyle doing nothing, Bond Blast at the ready for the final blow, right until the beat drops for full epic anime moment.
@@ManuCarrotman312I promise you it will be absolutely worth the wait. I doubt I could have ended it better than that, the musical climax, the story of the sisters, and finally their ultimate outfits even looking similar as they both finish him off together… CHILLS.

The makers of this game really care about Fire Emblem and it that was able to been seen through out the entire game, but this song was the beautiful bow to wrap it up.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the name of the song? Spoilers ahead, though somewhat mild. The Last Engage (Prayer-Incantation). You know, that thing that Divine Dragons (Prayer) and Fell Dragons (Incantation) do to summon Emblems?
Yup on in Alear's case a prayer-incantation as they use both methods
@@acefreak9561 Yep! That's why this song's title is so perfect!
Alternatively... You could say "Prayer" is possibly a mistranslation and that it's supposed to be "Player Incantation." Since Alear is your avatar, it's like the soundtrack itself is calling on you, the Player, to give one last push and seal the deal on the adventure.

Really liked the game's story and final boss theme. Not complex as 3H,but still good for me. Also loved other themes as well (especially The Four Hounds (Frenzy))
Nah 3H was a mess all around they couldn't keep the story straight and ended up making a mess of Claude's story by turning it into silver snow 2.0 it's clear the multiple path format hurts the story telling of the games as also seen on fates engage kept to one route and was an amazing experience Don't get it twisted tho I love both 3H and fates but I can recognize their stories are simply not good or incomplete (crimson flower) 3 hopes fixes this in an amazing way however
I'm glad they didn't try too hard with the story. It wasn't the best by any means but they made it fun while staying true to the original formula
@@acefreak9561 They probably had no idea what to do with Claude. Even on their second attempt at a Claude route, they just made it CF 2.0. 3H might have been better if they just focused on Dimitri and Edelgard.
@@Blaze_Raveni still don’t know what the point of claude was. He has nothing to do with the story
Engage's story is a hot mess that crumbles to pieces when you actually attempt to critique it for 5 seconds. And there's not one single plot hole in 3H even close to as bad as Evil Veyle, the heroes letting the villains do bad things despite standing only 5 feet away from them, Past Alear's sadistic smile which they probably stole from Demon Slayer Season 2 which goes nowhere, Zephia being a mage dragon for whatever the plot wants her to be, all of the padded out death scenes, and there's 0 reason given why Sombron has any human followers whatsoever.
It's weird that he's only really evil because he's trying to find his lost friend and only finds him in death
i mean, he did kill a lot of people in the process.
What a game 112 hours for my first playthrough. Ended it the only why it should be, Bond Blast with the MC and Chole. What an game, and a ending that made me tear up. A game hasn;t done that in a while.

Composed yet unwavering, love it
The more I listen to this song the more I like it, Twilight of the Gods is amazing, same with God Shattering Star, but I prefer this one, there's just something about the slow buildup that feels like one big breath to prepare for the fight, the 8-bit part, the small fakeout it has to incorporate the series's theme and then the guitar slowly becoming more and more active until the climax hits, I love everything this game does

@@mihaimercenarul7467 I don't believe you
@Sasha Santiago ok I half agree with him; personally, it ties with end of all for eas favorite fe boss music (at least since awakening). This statement does not say much, as both of those songs are still stellar, they just don't have the same finality as Id purpose or Apex of the world.

Sombron: Imbeciles. Your scrambling is both futile and pitiful. Alear: Please, my friends, I need you all...one last time. Once more, let us engage! Alear: shine on, Emblem of Beginnings-Marth! Alear: Reignite Us, Emblem of Awakening-Lucina! Alear: Bare your fangs, Emblem of Fates-Corrin! Alear: Teach us, Emblem of the Academy-Byleth! Alear: And of course, the final Emblem... Alear: Connect us, Fire Emblem-Alear! Sombron: What... Alear: We 13 Emblems stand against you, with our allies. The future...may divide us once more. Alear: But here and now we tight with one heart. This fight, this moment in time, is all that matters. Sombron: What nonsense. You are the flicker of an ember. A dying light. You're nothing. Sombron: The deeper your bonds, the greater your pain when those bonds crumble to dust. Sombron: Why invite that inevitable pain upon yourself? Why allow such weakness to exist? Sombron: Give up and perish, foolish child of mine! Alear: Yes. You see me as a child. Foolish and weak. And maybe you’re right. Maybe that's all I am. Alear: But I am not alone! And we're stronger when we stand together! Alear: The breaking of bonds can hurt, but when the bond is reforged, it comes back as strong as ever- or stronger-and it brings an even greater hope. Alear: If people are willing to work for it, any bond can be brought back to life. And that's what I'II do, every single time, for however long it takes! Alear: You won't leave this place. Because we're going to stop you! Alear: Get ready, Sombron! This ends now! Marth vs Shadow dragon = medeus Marth: I sense you, shadow, and I believe I know who you are! Marth: I've defeated you before, and I will again, for I hold the Exalted Falchion! Celica vs war father = Duma Celica: We meet again, Duma...though I'm not sure you are him. Celica: Please, do no more harm. Allow your great and weary soul the rest it deserves... Sigurd vs Dark god = Arvis or Julius or ??? Sigurd: The divine sword Tyrfing is awakened. That marks you as- No. Impossible. Sigurd: As a knight of Grannvale, and a descendant of one of the 12 crusaders, I shall be your end! Leif vs Dark bishop = Veld Leif: You radiate evil…but are you truly the dark bishop who I fought once before? Leif: Is your intent to spread fear and despair in this world too? I will never allow that to happen! Roy vs demon dragon = idunn Roy: Why are you here-and in that form? We have no quarrel. Roy: So...I'll do my part to stop this. And I'II again free your soul from endless fighting. Lyn vs dark Druid = Nergal Lyn: Fate is full of surprises. Who would have thought we'd meet again? Lyn: Yet this, I'm afraid, is our final parting. Soon you'll only be a stain on my sword! Eirika vs demon king = Lyon And fomortiis Eirika: I sense a miasma of evil coming from you... Could you be the Demon King? Eirika: If you are, I will defeat you before you beguile anyone or cause a tragedy. Ike vs mad king = Ashnard Ike: I know exactly who you are. I can feel it. You're the Mad King. Ike: I won't hold back against you! I'lI fight with all my strength! Micaiah vs judgment = Ashera Micaiah: You?! Has Sombron summoned you again to pass judgment on the world? Micaiah: I'm not going to let that happen! Yune...please give me strength! Lucina vs despair = Grima and Robin Lucina: You've come chasing after me again. You, who are the wings of despair and the breath of ruin... Lucina: If that's so, then I challenge that fate! Die now, that our future can live! Corrin vs mad dragon = anankos Corrin: I didn't want to see you... But if it's true that you are at the end of every path I take... Corrin: Then I will stop you every time. I won't give up! Byleth vs liberation king = nemesis Byleth: The King of Liberation, revived? I doubt you'll go peacefully. Well, neither will I. Byleth: The flow of time may have brought us both here, but now I will end your journey.
I think you made me almost puke
Odd how all of the enemies are mad dragons, but in Byleth’s case, they don’t use the mad dragon of his world.
@@maxrichards3881 Veld, Ashera, Ashnard, and Nergal are not mad dragons... that' 6 out of 12

Good
This game has such an amazing soundtrack. Can’t wait for Nintendo to not make it easily accessible unless you live next to a brick and mortar game store in Japan and manage to get your hands on the exclusive prerelease bonus. Seriously Nintendo, just release your soundtracks like everyone else. It’s literally free money just waiting for you to take it.

the second this masterpiece started playing it filled me with confidence, even after i watched panette get smothered by a corrupted with georgios at the start of the battle.
What masterpiece? Seek help, little boy
@@mihaimercenarul7467 i understand some people don’t have the same taste in music but you don’t have to be hostile
Sucks the barrier didn’t shield all damage’s for Sombron just to get every Fire Emblem fan to send out all units equipped emblem in correct order KO their past adversaries dark emblem’s
Surprised how much I liked this. Came out of left field but very chill
I really like this song for how different it is with its instruments plus it’s a real somber opening which takes abit to get to the main meat. I of course am a sucker for reusing a motif with majority of the song being a motif to the opening song similar to how Three Houses used Edge of Dawn in Foldan Winds and then both in Apex of the World which is my favorite 3H final map theme. You also can’t deny the hype feeling you get when the main theme starts playing, makes you feel like an anime character with their theme being played
The main theme plays în 50% of the songs în this game, it makes it feel less special and more repetitive and bland
Then why are you still here?
You're right, I can't deny something that doesn't exist
OK dad it's time to go get the milk forever
Every time I hear this theme I’m gonna get ptsd of me missing all of my attacks cause goddamn was my hit rate in this fight terrible for some reason Honestly this is the only chapter in the game that I would consider to be bad due to how unfair it is especially when compared to the rest of the game
This was unfair? It's super easy to one-turn Sombron once his shield is down.
@@dyleeyte2550 Funny enough I actually DID manage to one turn Sombron in my successful attempt Getting to that point is the problem
Really? This map only took me 2 attempts on maddening. 11, 14, 17, 21 and some others were way harder imo.
@@AshenDust_ I tried it again on Normal difficulty and it was piss easy there I think what made my first time playing hard was that I rarely ever upgraded weapons, and since upgrading weapons upgrades the hit rates that could explain why I was always missing
@@bookid1581 obviously on normal it’s going to be completely free. I sorta had that same problem, I didn’t want to upgrade weapons if I would abandon them them later, so all I upgraded for the first bit of the game was the Liberation to +5. I did get over that eventually, and my weapons were +1 to +3 in the final battle.
1:40 sounds alot like a splatoon boss
