Vlog 16: Singapore Living, Exploring Pulau Ubin Coastline, Saltwater Fishing, Hawker Centre Foods

A simple life vlog, living and fishing in Singapore.
It’s another day of editing! A simple breakfast and lunch before meeting the folks at Fernvale Hawker Centre for dinner. Had a nice minced meat noodle soup with pastries and coffee. Packed for a saltwater fishing trip to Pulau Ubin with my friends. Met at Changi Village for brunch (wanton noodles) before taking the ferry over. It started raining as we arrived at Pulau Ubin. Rented bicycles to ride to the fishing spot. Was followed by a resident dog named “Kopi O”. We fished the coastline, targeting fish on the down going tide. There were some decent surface action and frenzied fish but no takes. It was a good learning opportunity as I will definitely be packing micro jigs on my next trip back and likely use a spinning set up instead to get the required distance. I fell short on many casts. We targeted structures for any ambushing fish as we continued on. At the final spot we encountered a big surface “boof”, likely from our target fish, the barramundi. Unfortunately, none of us got bit on the subsequent casts. Though we blanked out on the fish, we managed to get a good look at the terrain on a low tide and admire a Nipah Palm flower and fruit (attap chee). A quick bike ride back to the jetty before taking the boat back to mainland. Greeted by a hornbill back on mainland before having a much desired hot soupy meal after a day out in the rain. Did a quick check of the Rapala lures and rods available at Riverland Tackle. Glad to say, they have a decent range on sale.
