Again great video! Thank you for these great tips! Very useful especially the plugin section. - Already pre ordered Live 12, that was the easy one. A no-brainer. In the end I'd buy it anyway somewhere next year so that was an offer I couldn't refuse. - I was already scanning for a great deal on an UA Apollo Twin X HE and crossed the Thomann deal, that'll be probably the deal it's gonna be. - For a mic I'm in doubt. Should I go for the dynamic Shure SM7B or a membrane mic which one I've not decided yet. - And for a new set of headphones I'd like to tryout the Focal Listen Professional. They seem comfy for several hours in a row and the specs and reviews are impressive. But I'm still not really sure, Beyerdynamics DT770 looks very promissing too. Just as several AKG's. Sennheisers... Choices, choices, doubts and more choices ...

I got a lot of your recommendations in the past few years on Black Fridays. This year it will be a very budget friendly Black Friday. So far I just bought the Reverb Shaper add-on for Shaperbox, and the Ableton 12 upgrade.
What contribution does Shaperbox make to Live (Shaper MIDI...) ?

Are you actually using those older versions currently, or, have you upgraded but have not had time to update your list? Thanks again mate, great channel.
Thanks for spotting this, I've updated the links in the description. Arturia is definitely still doing Lab 61 and AKAI now has an upgraded version, but I am still using the previous model as it doesn't make any difference :)

@@BorisBeing No. I also like with Shaperbox how you can trigger things with audio (signal or sidechain) or midi. I also have KickStart, which has a quicker workflow for the specific case of sidechaining to a kick (and can be triggered by midi). I love this in Reaper. Midi routing in Ableton sucks by comparison.
Shaperbox is pure gold! I can't live without it.
U-he did have a sale before, at Native Instruments. I bought Zebra legacy then. Powerful plugin, but quite the complex one. This time I got Hive2 and already love it. I also noticed Dune 3 was on sale, which is an amazing sounding synth, but still pricey. Also my very first non-free synth: Synthmaster 2 is 80% off. A truly underrated gem. Great for those on a budget.
If I remeber correctly they did have a sale on Zebra only last year, and had 10% off on other plugins. They haven't had 50% off last year, or year before. Seems like you're collecting all synths you can get your hands on 🙂
@@EDMTips They've had 50% off on u-he twice: the first time I grabbed Hive and Diva and Repro, along with Colour Copy and Twangstrom.
Dune 3 is so tempting, but I have to be strong, and spend time learning the plugins I've already got.
Soundtoys are a must-have.

Not bought anything in this year's BF - so far. Got my eye on Gravity 2 (for sound design) though not sure it's going to be featured in any sales as it's only recently been released. Had some really good SSL plugins of late which came with the hardware (UF8, UF1 & UC1). Sort of tempted by some of the U-he stuff but Massive X is covering most of my complex synth duties

This is a wonderful video! But I have some questions. I just started to study music production for EDM, melodic dubstep more specifically. I bought the Ableton Live 11 recently and want to make full preparations for my journey. However, I got stuck by choosing headphones. I have the budget for both the Sennheiser 650 and 660S2, I think the 660S2 was published later, but I don't know if it is better than the 650 or if it is more suitable for EDM music production for new bees like me?
Great question! I haven't used 660S2, but 650 do everything I need them too and I have two pairs in case somethin happens to the first one 🙂

I am in my first year of producing (again) I picked up decapitator as Ive seen basically everyone using it and I am utilising/understanding importance of saturation. also picked up universal audio bundle for £40 which has £350 worth of plugins (apparently XD) is there any others I should pickup? maybe a transient shaper or distortion plugin? any recommendations welcome. Love the channel keep up the good work

For you Which good akg k702 or hd650 for mix Master i test the frequencies in sonaworx and i feel comfortable with the k702 what is your opinion about that
I love my HD650 and trust Sennheiser to last for ages but you have to choose the headphones that are working for YOU.

I am using a 27 inch one but if you want to go wide, you can do that too!
I grabbed the Ableton upgrade. I was on 10, and 11 didn't offer enough. But it was getting annoying that all the templates and tutorials used 11. I'll probably skip 13 in the same way. Likewise I upgrade V Collection to the even versions, so I'll skip 9, and get 10 when they do a 1/2 price offer on it. I have Arturia FX 2, and FX 4 doesn't add enough, yet. So I'll wait for FX 5 at least. I have the Korg collection that has Triton Extreme, and won't upgrade that for a few versions either. I should be disciplined and learn to use the stuff I've already got, rather than lusting after stuff I haven't. But plugin addiction is a serious addiction.

@@EDMTipsI did the 'complete your collection' thing when ReverbShaper dropped. I already have SB3 and FSXL, so adding MidiShaper (that I've yet to use) and Curve for not a lot made sense. I've yet to use ReverbShaper either. (When I next have a go at Synthwave, I'll see how good ReverbShaper is at producing gated reverb, using its audio triggering.)

I'd wait till you master what you already have and focus on learning what Ableton has to offer first, if I were you :)
it's just nuts to me how everything is so expensive with music production i do a bunch of other digital art and a lot more stuff is free or it's like under 50 dollars

I’m into many things both professionally and as a hobby, and music production is easily one of the most expensive (and least justifiable, for me) of any tools/toys I work/play with. It’s also one of the easiest things to be fooled into thinking some purchases will improve your craft. Very few things actually make stuff better directly, if it’s something worth buying, it usually just makes it easier for me to do what I need. That efficiency gain is what indirectly leads to faster improvement. I spend less time fighting less-efficient tools. It’s like a screwdriver versus a drill versus a cordless drill.
