  • I'm a Rangers supporter, so I have nothing to complain about in terms of exposure. But you, sir, are an absolute diamond. An absolute fucking diamond, There are few things so captivating than the love of your club. Doesn't matter the level they're at. Your shine on the sparkles of the 'wee teams' is beautiful. They're not 'wee' to those who love them. I don't know what series of events conspired to deliver you to doing this. But we're all better off for it.

    • Absolutely right, need divisions of 16-18. 12 is far too narrow in terms of covering the whole of Scotland as the top divisions of a fitba mad nation should.

    • Spot on, having to play others 3 to 4 times every season just takes away the glamour and importance of the occasion It would mean more if our teams only had 1 home game against our rivals in a season. It is why cup finals are 1 off games. Then there is the slow movement of clubs through the leagues. Ross County should not have had a 2nd lifeline last season, 2nd bottom shouldn't. Sadly, i don't think we can have a 18 team prem because it will water down the league too much. I would like to see a 16 team league which splits to groups of 4 after 30 games. All points halved and they all play for another 6 games. Would make the title race interesting again and involve 3-4 teams not just 1-2.

    • @@martinfairley5261 playing the same teams 3-4 times a season there is. Games lose some of their 'special occasion' factor.

    • Yeah the game needs a serious restructuring of leagues. Under the current set up its possible to end up playin each other 7 times a season depending on cup draws. Ridiculously boring that is. Games like this one would not be out of place in the top flight. Problem is our so called game leaders don't want change. Their ideal season is 6 ugly sisters derbies a season. 4 in the league and both cup finals to be contested by said ugly sisters how boring. Nae to mention bending over to the TV companies who demand it. Playing each other twice a season is plenty enough. A bigger league might encourage less pressure and let clubs blood more youngsters sooner. It would be good to grow our own players again like we used to. I would also like to credit both sets of fans in this video for the atmosphere generated. Anyone staying down that neck of the woods and supports their local team instead of glory hunting wi the ugly sisters deserves respect👍👏

  • Andy Ritchie was a real star for Morton back in the late 1970's. Morton were even briefly top of the Premier Division at one point during the 1978/79 season. There was a very severe winter that year and numerous postponements with teams having loads of games in hand etc... The upshot being that Morton found themselves top of the table around about Jan/Feb sort of time. They weren't able to stay there and ended up finishing 7th but Ritchie did finish as the leagues top scorer that season.

The women went shopping & we decided to get out of the city for the day & go & see this fixture in Greenock. We didn't realise that the train passed thru St Mirren territory on the way there & us 4 Scousers were swamped by St Mirren fans. When they found out what we were up to, they were brilliant & really looked after us & we even had a few beers with some of them in Paisley on, the way back to Glasgow. Fair play to the St Mirren fans...👍👍

  • If Partick Thistle hadn't blown a 3-0 aggregate lead which they had up until the 70th minute of their 2nd playoff game against Ross County then you could have witnessed a Highland derby this upcoming season. Still makes me sick, thinking about it especially after hammering Queen's Park and Ayr scoring 16 goals in these 4 games

    @4plum@4plum10 ай бұрын
    • I don't like that play-off system. Should just be contested between the teams in the division below and the final should be a 1 off cup final at a neutral venue. I was hoping Partick would have been up.

It's progress because we're coming from a place, as a society, where we've been completely ignorant of autistic people in every single way...but it's still not OK. It's still not good. It's still not acceptable. It's a step towards an acceptably-inclusive situation, but it's vitally important that we don't stop here.

Only derby I've been to that comes close (for me) is Dortmund versus Schalke. Keep up the work covering these lesser type Scottish games though, there are some great places to go in Scotland to watch football and you do them all justice. Greenock maybe isn't one of them mind. I remember Andy Ritchie playing for Morton, what a legend the guy was. He could spend 85 minutes on the pitch doing absolutely nothing then just turn it on, take on an entire team (barely getting touched in the process) and score a wonder goal at the end of it - very, very special player in his day.

    • I remember Clydebank very well particularly their keeper Jim Gallacher who always looked about 63 years old when he was only 29 lol. Also remember a game v Falkirk which wasn't for the faint hearted with one player from each side sent aff. It finished 1-1 which meant Falkirk got promoted.

    • @@ianmcbain898 Jim Gallacher was a very fine player and did get international recognition but not a full cap . Jim Fallon the captain was another great player . In those days football seemed so much better than today but thats probably just me and my nostalgia

  • I remember, in Kilmarnock's league winning season in 1965, Morton crushd us 5 nil... it was a real wake up call to us that the 4-4-2 system wasn't perhaps impenetrable but hey, that was a while ago .... ♥

  • I have done only the Edinburgh derby at Tynecastle however I've done 36/42 grounds. Heading to Kelty Hearts to tick that off this weekend actually against Morton I think. I've still got Celtic, Inverness, Kelty, East Fife, Ayr and Clyde to do. Great video, keep it up 👍

  • If you want to go to a decent derby match then get yourself to Tranmere Rovers vs Wrexham. It’s England v Wales and only 20 odd miles apart. A bit hostile but it’s always a good game. 2nd September at Prenton Park. Highly recommend and make sure your rooting for the Rovers 👍🏻

  • Scottish football needs a revamp, I know the excuses of other clubs needing the two home fixtures against Celtic and Rangers for cash reasons but a 12 team league with near enough four fixtures against each is absolutely woeful.

  • Hi Sam, You covered the "Alternative North East Derby" between Blyth and Gateshead. there is a better one on Friday 28th of this month between South Shields FC and Gateshead. Probably a bit more needle as well, only about 10 miles apart. You should come and visit South Shields FC at some point though, as there is plenty to talk about from the last few years. Cheers, Sean

    • Arab here. Was it around 1977? I remember United going for the League around '77/'78. They played Celtic at Parkhead and Roy saved Hamish's penalty. 2-0 to Celtic. Incidentally, my friend sent a programme to Roy Baines, in the early 80's, to be signed. My friend received the programme back signed, plus an accompanying letter and a couple of souvenirs from Roy. My friend was extremely complimentary of Roy, as it appears that he went out of his way for him. This wasn't his experience with other football players, I hasten to add. Good luck, Jimbo in Arbroath.
