150% agreed!!! Eliminate the imbecilic filibuster for it is of literally no use. However, instead of expanding scotus, we need to seriously limit the time anyone is allowed to serve, along with GREATLY increasing the bare minimum qualifications in order to even be nominated for the position. Mandatory 12 grades of completed education along with a minimum of 10 full years of active service as a judge just to begin with. The only ones who would "suffer" from such new rules would be those unqualified for the position in the first place.

As a young woman I was glued to the TV during the watergate hearings understanding this would be a once in a lifetime event. I hate to be a conspiracy buff but can't free myself from the thought that the trump team knew they could count on some sort of help from the supreme court. I listened to the whole proceeding and it was, at times, almost shameful. 'No-one is above the law" has been a bedrock of american law for almost 250 years, until suddenly it wasn't. Particularly the questions from Alito, but also from Gorsuch, were outrageous and cringeworthy.

If a court is taking on a case, it behooves them that they MUST address that case. They aren't there to debate hypotheticals, except as consequences of a decision ON the case. They are there to determine the right or wrong of that specific case.

It's distinctly chilling to consider that Mr Khardori may be right about President Biden needing to have begun a restructuring of the Supreme Court; that not to have done so will imperil our democracy, that we are losing the "guardrails" to our nation's ethos ala the other speaker Mr Marcus Childress. 🇺🇸

I understand the concern here. But theres no way the Supreme Court sides with Trump's team on this. There is Partisan and there is suicidal. Even they are not radical enough to be incapable of seeing how absurd and damaging saying Trump is immune would be.

I agree that they won’t decide for immunity. Their main goal was to delay and make a big show of pretending this is a matter for the ages. All they needed to do was answer the question of Trump’s claims of immunity. I’m livid.

I'm curious about why they are discusing hypothetical situations in a court. A court decides on cases put before it, not on an endless procession of "what ifs?", each sillier than the last. This only calls into question the integrity, competence, and seriousness of the court itself.
