Really easy simple improvement to any survival kit is to pre thread a good length of string/thread on at least one sewing needle, and pre tie at least one fishing hook with a leader, since when you're dehydrated/malnourished/hypothermic, it is almost impossible to thread the eye of a needle or hook. Great insights and awesome job on your kits.

Great video lots of great ideal . I add twist ties in all my kits . They fit everywhere and have many uses Number one I wear glasses and they fit all size screw holes . And easy enough to fix with limited vision . All the screws in the world don’t help if you can’t see . Now toys and other items have great ties in packaging So you can get nice sizes many quick and easy uses for twist ties . Sorry for rambling but next to ash the most used item in my kits . Again great kits and video .

Nice! I would slip in some meds. I have Ibuprofen, benadryl and anti-diarheal in mine. Just a couple of each. They are small.

I don't know if you know this already, but you can start a fire with the foil gum wrapper and a battery. Also, use the gum to make a bubble and make a fishing bobber.

Nice kit. I teach survival also. Some things to try. Produce bags hold water and are very thin. Readyman makes survival cards (much more useful) and Wazoo makes all kinds of kit stuff. Thanks for serving the Scouts and sharing your idea.

i would add fishing line and some hooks and small weights in that kit all in all looks good mate.

I will confess that these Altoid's tin survival vids are a guilty pleasure of mine. ;-) While any gear you have is better than nothing I feel it's nearly impossible to get a well rounded and genuinely effective array of gear into such a tiny kit. However I think the tin kits are a useful exercise in kit building that forces you to carefully consider what you really need to carry in case of an emergency. Your kit has gear that would be genuinely useful. The main nit I would pick is including the gum and candy. It's hard enough to have a complete kit in such a small space that it seems a waste to devote any of the already limited room to items that have virtually no survival value. I'd rather have an ESBIT cube vs the candy or a small folded hunk of aluminum foil instead of the gum. The Nite-Eyez card doesn't look very useful either, at least for wilderness survival. But I like the idea of wick wrapped around the lighter! Nice job of sealing water tabs in a straw.

Very cool kits Jason. I like the bigger one as it has some form of premade shelter. I know the cards as "survival tool cards" This kits are fun to put together. TFS. man ... ill support with a subb. :D C.R.

You just need multiple ways to start fires , a water bag + pure tabs ITS ALL YOU NEED .. flashlight and razor are next

whats all this with altoids boxes?are they cheap?or what?for 3 bucks you can buy a bigger,sturdier and impermeable box, still easy to carry, and with space for more stuff...
