  • #GREATENGINEERINGVIDEO I'm curious how to know which part of a female/male USB port, contact points are for what? Also, curious how, if at all possible, to connect USB male cable end into a cell phone, while soder USB cable wire to coax connection of antenna (or with dish receiver unit with improvised small handheld dish), to increase distance and detection of public WiFi?

  • nice phone , I was watching the video about the guy who made them.. He used to work for Apple literally top of the corporate ladder over there. Then he decided to leave and make more affordable flagship phones, and ditch iOS and jump on the Android wagon. If anyone wants to make the mic and doesn't know how to solder. Just take an old pair of headphones with a handsfree mic. Take a scissor and cut directly ABOVE the microphone, snipping off the earbuds. When you plug into your phone it will recognize it as a mic instead of a headset... Make sure to try on a crappy headset just in case your phone doesn't like it , or doesnt want to play nice ; ) !

    • Yeah you're right about that. As long as it has a 3.5mm headphone jack it will work you dont need to use expensive headphones I suggest doing this with an old shitty headset. What I was saying is that if you have an old hands-free like the ones that used to come with a cell phone laying around it will function as a mic if you snip the head phones off (no need to solder) if your making a video your not going to wear headphones it will ruin the shot. So you can hide the mic. The phone will see it as a mic or hook it up to one of those cheap Bluetooth transmitters they're selling now pair with phone and have a lightweight wireless mic that you can move around with. Its a cheap way to make a lapel mic most of the old hands-free sets come with that big obnoxious clip, clip on the collar or lapel. Instead of buying a wireless mic the point is to take something old and cheap and make it useful again. He just likes to take things apart and put them back together to his specification, you wouldn't be able to tell from his videos because they're mostly shots of his hands and voice overs. I took a two year certification course in video and radio, I used this method, instead of buying one of those expensive UHF mic kits for a few assignments.

    • Apps for running those 'shortcut buttons' one can put in the headphone jack will make normal speaker/mike still work with the button inserted in the jack, so those might work for the stand too...
