    • 13:05 Wrong. Induced plasma can go up to ~10k C already, which will allow to go through iron in 1 sec. Problems are: 1.it's extremely expensive (usage - specialized analytical methods used for testing and identifying new materials, for reference ICP-MS analysis in chemistry can use that) 2. the plasma source is basically the like a professional printing machine used in fax/copy/scan services. this will be solved similarly to computers, it will just take like 30-40 years. Or a new energetic materials with the same energy levels as uranium, but with no radiation and smaller device (backpack size maybe?). Just my two cents.

  • Lightsabers in Star Wars consist of a plasma blade powered by a kyber crystal. The Hacksmith’s lightsaber is a plasma blade powered by a gas tank. Lightsabers can only do fancy shit like block projectiles and absorb lightning when the user is force sensitive. On it its own, it’s just a plasma blade just like what the Hacksmith created. Therefore the Hacksmith’s lightsaber is by definition a real lightsaber.

  • This chat, I can't even... He's actually right about the colour addition, it's different for pigments and light filters. With pigments, you subtract the colours that get reflected by the dye, and with light filters, you subtract the colours that pass through transparent stuff. There are two different systems, with paints it's red, yellow, and blue as primary colours, plus black and white, since you can't get really clear black or white mixing those, and with filters it's red, green, and blue - RGB. And with printing on paper, another set is used: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black - CMYK (K because B stands for Blue).

  • Science has worked out what a Lightsaber blade would be, based on how it acts in the movies. It's superheated plasma kept in shape by a magnetic field. The thing is, if we make a plasma hot enough to cut as fast as it does in the movies, we also incinerate every piece of matter in a 100m radius. So yeah, in essence, a Lightsaber is just a blowtorch on turbo-steroids. We just have no clue how to pack that much energy into a hilt or how we'd keep the heat local to the blade

      @terryfuldsgaming7995@terryfuldsgaming79953 жыл бұрын
    • @@terryfuldsgaming7995 Look m8, objects can emit light, reflect, refract, disperse, and absorb. All light we see was emitted by something, usually the Sun or a lamp, and then reflected off of an object. The "colour" of an object is basically what it reflects and doesn't absorb. So if we talk about colours of non-transparent paint and colours of transparent plastic or glass, it's different things. If we mix red and blue paint, it means it'll now reflect both red and blue light and be seen as purple or brownish purple, depending on the initial paints. Red glass absorbs everything except the red part of the spectrum, so we see red objects as red, and everything else as black, since there's little to no light passing through from them. The same goes with blue. So if we put red and blue glass on top of each other, it's gonna be black. It's not gonna let anything pass. Why do you think old 3D glasses were red and blue plastic? Because it ensures that each eye doesn't see the other eye's picture

      @mityakiselev@mityakiselev3 жыл бұрын
  • Y'all saying just a blow torch but torch flames aren't that long nor do they reach 4000 degrees. Blowtorches stay around roughly half the temperature of this.

    @taviondavis1293@taviondavis12933 жыл бұрын
  • Asmon being right about the color spectrum if only partially. The light and man-made colors spectrum are different. If light mixes all colors equally it's white, if you mix all paint colors it instead turns out black.

    @JaelSerrano-kg3nu@JaelSerrano-kg3nu3 жыл бұрын
    • Because light is additive & paint is diminutive. If you point spotlights of every color on the same spot, you’ll also get white, yet if you put every color of stained glass in front of one spotlight, you’ll see nothing. The spectrum is the same, just how it’s manipulated is different.

  • Actually, you can theoretically meet the expectation of cutting through metal in even less than second through the same means of temperature as these guys were doing. It would just be obsenelly expensive and not atll something that we could make as compact as a light saber with current technology. For instance, these guys got the plasma to 4000 degrees celsius? Well, CERN's Large Hadron Collider has already achieved plasma at 5.5 trillion degrees Celsius. If you could make it compact enough to fit a light saber, and somehow not be instantly vaporized by turning it on, it should pretty much cut through steel in 1/1000000th of a second.

  • So much shade being thrown, a plasma torch is basically this but smaller but it still is hotter and has a lot more usability, a blowtorch is nothing like this because a blow torch heats up metals, this cuts through them.

  • despite being made of incredibly tough metal, the fat that Captain America's shield was forged in the 1940s is already enough to tell me that a lighsaber could easily cut it, without even needing the specific math or anything and I'm hyped with each new video they make for sabers, cuz with each one they get better; the sad thing is that I think we will eventually get lightsabers, but I don't think it'll come from H.I. and probably will come from some random trillion-dollar company cuz funding is probably the biggest setback besides inventing mini nuclear reactors

  • to cut through steel instantly you'd have to have the blade @ around 20k Fahrenheit i.e the same temp as the surface of the sun so if you held it and turned it on you would literally burst into flames

  • there were a lot of edits to show the cool parts, not an actual time lapse for how long it took to cut through the material. also the tip of the cone of the flame is hottest, using that part will cut throught the material faster. we still need more research for an actual lightsaber.

But that's only apply to real life movies. The comics and cartoon, Marvel still owns the right to use Spiderman, Xman, Fantastic 4 and anything associated with them.

  • The problem with having a real lightsaber is the amount of energy needed and the amount of heat required. Even if we can eventually get enough energy into a blade to cut things as fast as they do in the movies there’s a few issues. 1, duels won’t be a thing because the blades won’t be solid objects, so you’ll just pass it through each other’s “blade” and kill each other, and 2, the amount of heat that would be given off from it would instantly vaporize you if you were holding it. We would need to develop some kind of absolutely INSANE heat resistant suit that would likely be so heavy and so thick you wouldn’t even be able to really move. And that’s just how it would be I mean there’s no getting around heat. That’s where the energy has to go. Unless we can eventually figure out what dark matter is and somehow use it and find out it’s useful for something like this and it allows us to make an insanely high temperature blade of light that gives off no heat unless you touch it where it then just immediately cuts whatever it touches like butter.....then real true light sabers, at least how they work in the movies, will never be possible. At least possible to use by hand. It’s certainly possible one day we might be able to get the energy needed to make it work that way into a small enough area that it can be inside the hilt, and no battery pack would be needed, however there’s just no chance we find a way to be able to deal with the heat it would give off without sticking it in a room and being thousands of feet away from it behind like 50 foot thick steel walls
