Amazon: One Forest, Many Worlds - Wildest Latin America - Go Wild

The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world, and the richest ecosystem on earth. Spanning nine countries it covers eight million square kilometres of South America. It’s so huge, that if it were a country it would be the seventh largest in the world.
This film uncovers what makes the Amazon such a powerhouse of evolution; how it has come to home a third of all species on the planet.
The Amazon is a jigsaw of many different worlds. High in the canopy monkeys reign supreme, leaping and swinging through the treetops, ever mindful of attack from harpy eagles - the deadliest aerial predator in the jungle. Far below, on the forest floor, the unchanging environment has led to an explosion of life. Weird and wonderful forms of life exploit highly specialised niches. Army ants swarm in their millions, devouring anything in their path; even plants are part of an evolutionary arms race, developing ways to outdo rivals and threats.
People are also part of this formidable wilderness. The modern city of Manaus thrives in the heart of a rainforest that is still home to ancient cultures and witness to terrifying initiation ceremonies.
But the driving force behind this magnificent forest is the Amazon river, the largest river in the world. With more species of fish than are in the Atlantic, and boasting tributaries that are larger than most other rivers worldwide, this huge system of waterways carves up the forest into a mosaic of jungle islands.
The Amazon is a complex biological engine, the sum of many parts. But it is vulnerable to change, a vast but fragile ecosystem.

  • Red howler monkeys. By the way, I have difficulty communicating because I had a stroke in Broca’s area, the part of the brain that controls speech. 2/8/2021 but I lived again. (My wife helped me compose this.)

  • This was really awesome to watch. The narrator was calm, slow, and realistic, making it seem like he's talking straight to me. Unlike others who sound like a DJ in a hip hop club.

  • @Go Wild, Is the aspect ratio correct on this film?

    @MA-bx2ev@MA-bx2ev Жыл бұрын
    • I think it was originally made for high resolution widescreen cinema. This was converted to computer screen aspect ratio, adding black bars on top and bottom. (There does seem to be slight distortion of proportions, something like a fisheye effect with the lens, makes it look like the camera is right down with the insects, etc? Perhaps that is intentional?)

  • Women endure the PAIN of childbirth to BRING FORTH LIFE getting stung by ants is a Super male EGO trip

    @iamedey1232@iamedey12324 ай бұрын
  • it seems that getting stung by those bullet ants is the ONLY way to try an outdo the pain a woman endures during childbirth. do they seem to forget that women bodies are DESIGNED to birth babies; men are NOT designed to get stung by 240 stingers. Only males try so hard to prove they are worthy of being needed it's kind of sad. I'm a male!
