This song is what sealed the deal for me getting into the podcast, and I don't regret following it.
Welcome to the family. ;)
100% The theme music is so amazing. Love the whole show though.
Back when I lived in Madison County, I'd do my rituals out in the back pasture... this song captures that memory so poignantly. I miss the tall grasses and king snakes. Especially the coyotes yipping at the edges of the fence at midnight.
This song gives me chills every episode and they don't stop until the end of the closing track.
I walk these hills leave these dark valleys where I can't stay now in the lands unknown And in these hills that I've walked so often I can feel the winds now hold your ghost And I sail my boat across these waters to steel my soul For now I walk these roads alone And my soul now will sink beneath these waters so dark and cold for on this road I'll die alone
It could also be “steel my soul”
Thank you so much.
@@runawaygemm5397 @RunawayGemm Oooh, I really think that works better. Did I mistype or misinterpret? Cuz you are so right. THANK YOU! :D Notes: I had "steal my soul" originally. Edited to "steel my soul". Nerd Postscript: "Steal" might actually work for this show. I'm not just "well, actually"-ing my initial misspelling of the word. ;p After your comment, I edited my original lyrics post. Then my nerd brain kicked in. When living in a world where souls are real and a commodity, stealing your own back from some weirdness and sailing away across deep running water fits a lot of fantasy/horror/fairy-tale lore. Even if you have to bury yourself/soul under the sea, at least you'll be free of the brutal existential horrors (hopefully)! Anyway, thanks for "steel". I still think it fits better, despite my nerd tangent. ^__^
@@h3llo0cto no problem my guy
Sorry to throw something else in, but it could also be "still my soul," In this case, "still" means "ease, comfort, calm" my soul.
Two years later, I still get chills when I hear this song. Love ya'll!
As cold as dark mines deep in the Earth, yet it warms the blood like a lullaby. My black soul needed its caressing call before venturing to sinister places bearing names the wind forgot long ago.
My Dad's from Tennessee, and he really likes this show - says y'all have the, I guess, Appalachia vibe down very well
The BEST intro theme. Double Drop D tuning perhaps? It has a rich darkness to it, a haunting, eerie beauty.
Sounds like it. Landon Blood has a youtube channel he's active on if you want to ask him yourself
sounds like dadgad to me
@@oliveward4892 Based on how low that opening note is. I think it's Drop C
This song is amazing, it struck a real chord with me. It reminds me of the music of my childhood, stuff we'd listen to on the long car ride to see family in the Smokey Mountains
Great song. Fits the tone of the show perfectly
I love OGoA and there original theme song, I appreciate the newer song but this 1st theme slaps and it's not on Spotify so I can listen to it while I work😢 Can't wait for the next episode, Love this🤘🏼🖖🏼
Wheres the version that was in the podcast? I promise this would blow up if you released it!! I'd follow you for sure and share the stage. Love it!
This podcast got me through the entire autumn of 2021
Hopefully these old gods will fill the void in my heart left by the fear entities from Magnus Archives.
I love this song…can’t stop playing it!
I made this my ringtone.
Love your show and this song! Thank you from San Francisco
I hope this gets released on Apple Music or google play.
Thanks for uploading :) I will put this in my playlist
Amazing show and theme song!
Chills just from the song.
I’d love to know the tabs for this on guitar so I can play along 👌🏼
Yes tabs would be much appreciated
I'd like a banjo roll too
Drop c tuning basic chords my dude
kzhead.info/sun/orOcaNKLsJhjdas/bejne.html Kinda hard to write tabs on the description but I played as clean as I could that's the gist of it, enjoy
Does Landon Blood have any other songs/music. Really trying to find music like this.
Sadly we've yet to convince Landon to record more acoustic stuff. I would recommend anything by Darrell Scott (Especially "Never Left Harlan Alive") . Anything by Murder By Death (Especially Brother). Of course I always recommend our family in Blood on the Harp (especially 1692 and Build Mama a Coffin)
You may like Goodnight Texas
There's a guy here on youtube, Justin Johnson. He does a lot of incredible guitar music. Acoustic, electric... shovel (no really).
@@steveshell75 I wish they had sheet music somewhere
If it's for the quiet spooky vibe, i also recommend Zeal & Ardour. Some of their songs are just as chilling as this
PERFECT INTRO PERFECT PODCAST
This theme is so badass
Deserves millions of views not gonna lie
We have over 5 million downloads on podcasting platforms.
Ya'll doing Gods' work here...
Maybe so, but *which* God's work?
It's best not to ask.
That’s why I used the plural 🙂
@@msk5410 If you were using plural you would've put the apostrophe after the s
If there was ever a song to usher me out of this valley, it sure might be this one. Illinois ain't far from y'all.
I imagine this is what Silver John (from the stories by Manly Wade Wellman) sounded like.
Does this man sing anything else? Having trouble finding him. I'd love to listen to more of his music.
We hope to have a full musical release from Brother Landon in the very near future.
I love this, what genre of music is this?
Southern Gothic, Dark Country, Spooky Country.
@@OldGodsofAppalachia Thank you for the reply! Much appreciated!
Do we gotta make a forsaken deal with the dark ones to get this on Spotify? I need this on my playlist.
The artist, Landon Blood, isn’t on Spotify and, as we understand it, doesn’t want to be at this time. Google up how well Spotify pays artists and you can understand why. You can get it from our Bandcamp if you like.
What is the genre of this music? I want to find more songs like this.
Some would say dark country, Gothic country maybe? You can check that artist like Blood on the harp, those poor bastards, amigo the devil and that should point you in the right direction
I gotta know the full lyrics to this, can't find them and can't quite hear them in this
Transcripts of each episode, including music, are available on our website.
Is the full closing theme available anywhere?
You can find the song "I Cannot Escape The Darkness" by Those Poor Bastards on Spotify
Weird not hearing this song at 1.2 speed
Is this the same Landon Blood who did the vocals for Doyle's Gorgeous Frankenstein?
If that band is from somewhere in Texas or Louisiana probably so
Any guitar players here know what tuning he’s using? I can’t find any good chord transcriptions or tabs for the song and I’m having trouble doing it just by ear 😭
You could watch brother Landon play it live on the Thicker Than Rainwater Live special
@@OldGodsofAppalachia Thanks, family! I couldn’t love the podcast more if I tried ❤️
Anyone know what guitar tuning he's using here? It's too low to be standard or Drop D
I've been noodling around with it and CGCGCC seems to work well
Why is this not on Landon Bloods channel?
We don’t run Landon’s channel, family.
Are the lyrics available somewhere?
I don't know if these are exactly right, but I gave it a shot: Now all these hills, leave these dark valleys Where I can’t stay now in the lands unknown In these hills, that I now walk so often I can feel the winds now on your ghost And I sail my boat across these waters to steal my soul For now I walk these roads alone And that soul will now sink beneath these waters, dark and cold For on this road I’ll die alone
@@bekbowen8671 other than the last bit being "so dark and cold", and I think the first bit is "I walk these hills" (not sure on that last one), sounds to me like you have them exactly right.
is the song by itself available on spotify?
No.
I want to like this song so much but on the other hand it seems like a crime to like it as its at 999 for likes
Lyndon or Landon?
Landon. The A is upside down in several of the words.
Is this gothic country?
So its not land and blood?
No, it’s not. As written, the artist’s name is Landon Blood. And no, that isn’t a stage name.
I was just joshin. Kind of. I thought it was land and blood, and i agree landon isnt a strange name sounds pretty cool. Hey thanks for responding to my dumb lil comment.
That’d actual be a sick band name tho
I wanna kiss this song with tongue
