  • Terrific video for the BGE. You covered more practical directions for the BGE in fourteen minutes than most experts do in an hour! Enjoy all the videos. Also, all of the video lessons will work on any grill.

  • My Father-in-law passed last May and I have been put in charge of the Turkey for Thanksgiving. It will be my Mother-in-laws first Thanksgiving and Christmas without her Husband so I am going to channel his spirit and try to cook the turkey on his BGE. Great video and tips. I'm, sure I will be back for more guidance.

    • 2 years later how do you like the BGE compared to the Traeger? As in the smoking capabilities and consistency?

      @NoSend901@NoSend9014 ай бұрын
    • @@NoSend901 I hate to say it, but I love both and use both fairly often. I like the Traeger due to its ease of use which is nice on work nights or when I don't have a lot of time to get charcoal fired up. When I have more time, I always use the BGE and I can taste the difference when I do. For smoking capabilities, the BGE will give you more smoke flavor but the Treager is no slouch. Hope this helps.

  • I’ve been playing with charcoal amounts. And 1 chimney full plus a double handful is plenty to cook slow for 3-1/2 hours. If I fill it full like you did trying to keep low temps is work. They are so efficient. I only use 1 starter under the chimney and don’t let it get too hot. 2 wads of old newspaper is plenty to get it going nice and free. Otherwise it will be over temp in 5 minutes. I leave the coals in a slight mound and let fire spread from there. A metal bucket a wire charcoal basket is a simple set that everyone should have for any Kamado red green black Ect. I asked multiple Kamado video producers for help with fire size questions and never got a response. That left over charcoal may be out in 10 minutes but hot for much much longer.

Love the channel!

  • Eggcellent review! One minor detail to point out (and perhaps someone has already commented) the proper orientation of the convEGGtor is with one of the legs located directly at the front of the egg. This helps divert air flow and heat to the sides of the space where the thermometer is located in the cover when closed.

    @stewsmith3536@stewsmith35366 ай бұрын
    • You just sort of play it by eye. When it seems you have a decent fire going, close it down and start adjusting the vents.

  • Love you're informative videos,Ron! One question though, how do you get added wood chunks to burn if you light the fire from the bottom? Thanks!!

    @garylovett2630@garylovett2630 Жыл бұрын
    • Great Question. I simply put my wood chunks in the charcoal just above where I light it or I just put some blocks on top of the charcoal, the fire burns upwards quite quickly.

  • I learned the most from your video than from so many others I have watched. I get a lot of recipes that say to remove a grill like the stainless steel and replace it with the heavier grill, but it never explains where to place a hot grill. When we remove it we set it awkwardly beside the egg but I think this is dangerous, especially when company are at the house.

    • @@FOGOcharcoal I would love a suggestion. I saw a video with just a cast iron-looking round plate, like a large green egg-shaped flat pancake griddle. A person removed a grill and placed it on this cast-iron platter. I guess we could place some cinder blocks by the green egg but I would love to have a solution that I could keep outside by the egg. (without spending lots of money).

      @lindyabbott5243@lindyabbott52432 жыл бұрын
    • There does exist stainless steel leg-attached accessories called grate racks that allow you to store plates, grates and other things directly below the grill itself. Third party of course, but cheap and does precisely what you’re asking.

  • Awesome video. Love it like all your others. Do you use a special filter or just the stock one on your shop vac? Do you notice any ash flying out the vent as you do it or if you use the vac later on for something else?
