Terrific video for the BGE. You covered more practical directions for the BGE in fourteen minutes than most experts do in an hour! Enjoy all the videos. Also, all of the video lessons will work on any grill.
Fantastic, we are SO glad that you are enjoying the videos! Also, yes, you are correct, these can be applied to almost any grill.
My Father-in-law passed last May and I have been put in charge of the Turkey for Thanksgiving. It will be my Mother-in-laws first Thanksgiving and Christmas without her Husband so I am going to channel his spirit and try to cook the turkey on his BGE. Great video and tips. I'm, sure I will be back for more guidance.

Great video Ron-some helpful tips even after years of BGE use! Also learned that BGE made limited edition blue eggs-always thought that was BGE’s competition in your EGG arsenal!
That’s great to hear, we love to continue to learn and want to share the bit of knowledge that we have. Haha, that blue one is always a hot topic of conversation.

Awesome! Thank you! Welcome to the addiciton
Great Job!!!!!
Hey Bill, thanks!!!
I just brought home a XL BGE today and your videos are very helpful. Coming from cooking on a Traeger, which is set and forget, your videos are really helping me better understand how to use my new egg. I can't wait to start cooking on this beauty! Thanks again!
Hey, that's great Luigi, welcome to the BGE addiction! You can feel free to reach out any time if you have questions. Insta- @cptnron302
2 years later how do you like the BGE compared to the Traeger? As in the smoking capabilities and consistency?
@@NoSend901 I hate to say it, but I love both and use both fairly often. I like the Traeger due to its ease of use which is nice on work nights or when I don't have a lot of time to get charcoal fired up. When I have more time, I always use the BGE and I can taste the difference when I do. For smoking capabilities, the BGE will give you more smoke flavor but the Treager is no slouch. Hope this helps.
As always good information
Thanks Tina! That really means a lot!
very informative video thank you for sharing
You are very welcome Bruce, glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! Thank you. I am thinking of purchasing a green egg and this made it so much easier to decide.

That's great Joseph. Welcome to the ceramic cooking addiction!
Great video. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Glad you like it TJ!
This really helped. Had a neighbor give me a BGE yesterday. Night one in the dark and rain was tough. This video helped a lot! Cornbread in the morning. Chicken quesadillas at lunch. Ribs at night. A one day run and I feel like I’m way ahead as compared to trial and error for days.
OK, first of all, I want a neighbor like that! Second, I am so glad the video helped. Here is a playlist of all of our BGE instructional videos that I made. Lots and lots of good stuff here... kzhead.info/channel/PL4QZhiP4QAOzMNy-73urEXa12IVXOI0Qy.html
Glad I found this video brother! Just got a large green egg on stand with wheels. Won on a auction for excellent price and in near perfect shape. It does have daisy wheel and thank you so much for the tip on that and the charcoal situation. Cooked once on it and worked great cant wait to smoke in it. This video definitely explained in detail to perfection on how to work it. Thanks.🏆
Hey, I am SO glad you found the video helpful! Next- welcome to the addiciton!!!

BGE owner here! Great tips. Thanks for the awesome content. SUBBED!
That's great Nick, I'm so glad you're enjoying these videos!
You crushed it. Nice job!
Glad you enjoyed it Todd!
Fun video. I’ve been doing the egg for well over a decade and am pretty good. But this is basic stuff but still fun to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
nice video!
Thank you Mark!
Not sure how I got to this video, but I watched it. Nice tips!! I want a BGE now!!
Hey, thanks. We are glad that you found us!
Great tips on cleaning out the BGE. It took me a while to realize you have to pull the fire ring. You can get a lot of ash buildup there.
Yes sir and it can really make a big difference
Good tips, you sold me on the shop vac.
Excellent! One thing, ALWAYS make sure the charcoal is completely out before using the shop vac on them!!!
Hi, met you today at the festival in Bonita Springs. I have to say your presentation was very nice but the wings were even better. Lol they were delicious 😋. I didn’t stick around the one if you can share that with me, I would appreciate it. Thanks keep up the good work.
Hey, thanks so much for coming out, it was a great day. I am glad that you enjoyed the wings so much! Sorry I was so rushed, I wasn't sure how it came across. What is it that you would like me to share with you? You can also hit me up at Ron@fogocharcoal.com . Buenas dias
😆Gradually, you'll get there the top! You made my day repeatedly! Your channel consistent! Sounds good too All the best!
Thank you so much 😀 We are so glad that you're enjoying it!
Such consistently good videos
I’ve been playing with charcoal amounts. And 1 chimney full plus a double handful is plenty to cook slow for 3-1/2 hours. If I fill it full like you did trying to keep low temps is work. They are so efficient. I only use 1 starter under the chimney and don’t let it get too hot. 2 wads of old newspaper is plenty to get it going nice and free. Otherwise it will be over temp in 5 minutes. I leave the coals in a slight mound and let fire spread from there. A metal bucket a wire charcoal basket is a simple set that everyone should have for any Kamado red green black Ect. I asked multiple Kamado video producers for help with fire size questions and never got a response. That left over charcoal may be out in 10 minutes but hot for much much longer.
That's great, I am glad that you've figured out a way that works well for you.
Well you made my mind up for me Iam going to get me a big green egg
Glad to hear it!
I enjoy your beginners guide to the Big Green Egg, but what I would also like to see is basics for cooking on the grill, i.e. basics for steaks, hamburgers, etc. I see a lot of recipes for more specific type of cooking, but for us beginners, I would like to see the basics that would help me just starting out. Love the channel!
Thanks for the idea! We are actually planning some of those exact types of videos. They'll probably be out before July 4th. I am glad that you're enjoying the videos!
Yes! Basics!
Great information on all your videos. THANK YOU!! Wanting to do a turkey for Thanksgiving with a pan of apple juice below it
You are very very welcome. We have a great turkey video out there too. kzhead.info/sun/YKaYpcufcGuhh30/bejne.htmlsi=hOrPmbo72L4mpUVj
Eggcellent review! One minor detail to point out (and perhaps someone has already commented) the proper orientation of the convEGGtor is with one of the legs located directly at the front of the egg. This helps divert air flow and heat to the sides of the space where the thermometer is located in the cover when closed.
Yes sir, Thank you and you are 100% correct. I've actually covered that, I'm not sure if it was in this video or another in our BGE series.
Hey Ron, I'm going to try.the single vent methods you suggest. Trying to coordinate top and bottom vents is a real challenge. Thanks for the tips!
You are very welcome sir! I just find that works easiest for me. After a little bit, you'll know just where to set the vents for what temperature.
Expert advice much appreciated new egg on the block I understand now the importance of burping. 🦑
Welcome to the addiction! Yes, we have all lost arm hair, trust me!
I have the Eggspander but haven’t used it yet due to not knowing when to use it. I’d love to see a how-to vid all about that. This was great, picked up a few new tips, BGE life baby!
Noted! We actually have a video with Eggcessories and how to use them in the works right now! You can always feel free to reach out with any questions, my Instagram is in the video description. Also, my FB group, Big Green Eggers of South Florida is a great resource.
You provide great information and instruction. So once I have my fire lie, at what point do I close the lid to get it up to the intended hold temperature?
You just sort of play it by eye. When it seems you have a decent fire going, close it down and start adjusting the vents.
Love you're informative videos,Ron! One question though, how do you get added wood chunks to burn if you light the fire from the bottom? Thanks!!
Great Question. I simply put my wood chunks in the charcoal just above where I light it or I just put some blocks on top of the charcoal, the fire burns upwards quite quickly.
@@FOGOcharcoal Thanks!
I learned the most from your video than from so many others I have watched. I get a lot of recipes that say to remove a grill like the stainless steel and replace it with the heavier grill, but it never explains where to place a hot grill. When we remove it we set it awkwardly beside the egg but I think this is dangerous, especially when company are at the house.
You are right, that’s a great point!!!
@@FOGOcharcoal I would love a suggestion. I saw a video with just a cast iron-looking round plate, like a large green egg-shaped flat pancake griddle. A person removed a grill and placed it on this cast-iron platter. I guess we could place some cinder blocks by the green egg but I would love to have a solution that I could keep outside by the egg. (without spending lots of money).
There does exist stainless steel leg-attached accessories called grate racks that allow you to store plates, grates and other things directly below the grill itself. Third party of course, but cheap and does precisely what you’re asking.
Great video! Wish I had access to this 15 years ago when I got my Egg! Never hurts to see other people's techniques, even for the most basic tasks.
Great Peter, I’m so glad that you enjoyed it. Sometimes it helps us to even be reminded of some of the basics.
Awesome video. Love it like all your others. Do you use a special filter or just the stock one on your shop vac? Do you notice any ash flying out the vent as you do it or if you use the vac later on for something else?
I actually bought the filter that is recommended for ash. It is a bit more $ but really does the job.
Hey great video thank you so much Do you prefer top vent all the way open/bottom vent cracked or bottom vent half way open and top vent cracked for low and slow cooking? Saw you did it two different ways. Looking to do a few pork butts this wkd overnight without wrapping 🤞
That's a great question, thanks for asking. I personally prefer the bottom vent cracked and the top wide open. That's the way I was taught and it just sort of stuck. LOL
I start from the top too, i just feel it gets the bottom ready faster.
what a great video.....I have all kinds od grills from gas, RecTec, charcoal........I always was scared to get a green egg because o did not understand it.....this video and your explanations, especially the lighting instructions, have convinced me to take another look....thank you so much.....do you ship products to californa?
Hey there, thanks! I am so glad that you got some good insights from the vids. Yes, we certainly do ship to Cali.
@@FOGOcharcoal great....can you tell me what the temp probe you used in the brisket video was and where I can get one.....thansk
