  • I think your number one safety tip as a new rider is "head check", get in the habit of checking your blind-spot whenever you are going to pull out in traffic or change lane. Make it a habit so you do it automatically every time without thinking.

    • I've gotten in the habit of checking my mirrors so often that I've caught myself performing the motion while walking through a grocery store. And the issue of catching myself was the fact that there aren't any mirrors and therefore, I couldn't see anything behind me, lol!

  • full gear... full helmet, long sleeves with pads, long trousers and boots... fall even at 20 mph and you become a scratch card.

  • So glad KZhead recommended this video! Amazing to see a new rider and I love your enthusiasm! Keep it up and be safe! Helmet > Gloves > Boots > Jacket > Pants! I'll echo a previous commenter and say a full face helmet is the way to go and there are some great mesh jackets out there that offer protection and don't leave you broiling under the sun.

  • Always have on full safety gear on! It’s better to have it just because dumb people on the road. We also have a saying here *“ride slow enough for your guardian angel to catch up and if you’re going to go fast make sure it’s fast enough that death can’t catch you”*

  • You're ready! You already know how to control the bike. If you have a car license and know your way around traffic, you can go to the main streets.

    • This is not meant to be mean, this is just some things I noticed watching the video. Stay on the back roads longer, you're not ready for the more aggressive roads. When you're taking off from a start, you do not have your throttle open enough. I can hear your motor gargling. On more busy roads where things are more aggressive you are more likely to stall the bike, you could wind up dropping the bike if your handlebars are turned. I don't know if your intentionally weaving the bike or not, but you are constantly moving from Lane position 2 into Lane position 3 and back again. That could be troublesome at higher speeds if you're not doing it intentionally. You're coming up on stopped vehicles pretty quickly, and slowing at the last moment. At higher speeds that Could end badly if you're not used to it..... Do more parking lot drills and stay on the back roads for a while longer. Good luck and enjoy.

  • 500th Sub woot woot! Great job, be safe! If you're concerned about hot weather riding, get yourself a KLIM Induction Pro jacket, super comfortable and engineered to breath. That's what I did :)

  • Gear, you _need_ it. But also important: get out of the habit of stopping in the middle of the lane behind cars, and grats!

  • You will figure it out. Just get some better gear until then. You can wipe off sweat. You can't wipe off road rash. And ride in the morning with another rider that can give you advice. I fell off my bike on my first ride. Hit my head and rung my bell pretty good. I low sided using the front brakes at low speed in a turn. That is a rookie move so learn from my mistakes. Use the rear brake when going slow. Show more videos. I will keep watching.

  • Killing it! Please get a good riding jacket and pants though! the first time you fall and scrape your skin off on concrete wont be a fun lesson to learn. And being a new rider its a matter of when not if you will fall. Doesn't have to be fast either!

  • Got a pro tip for you, dress for the slide, not the ride. If you want to know why just google some videos of bikers sliding down the road in jeans and a t-shirt, that pavement will grind through jeans and to the bone in no time.

    @mynameisray@mynameisray6 ай бұрын
  • Go buy some gear. Trust me. You need it. Road rash is one of the worst things there is beside broken bones. It doesn't matter if it's hot. You will thank yourself. And get a full face helmet.

  • Get a full helmet. Imagine crashing and you fall face first, that thing you have is useless. Get gear, don't end up a meat crayon. Get proper gloves, those paperweights wont protect your hands. Probably have sneakers on too...
