Trijntje Oosterhuis (b. 1973) is a Dutch singer who became widely known in Holland with her brother Tjeerd and their band Total Touch. Later on she embarked on a solo career and became one of the best and most versatile vocalists in The Netherlands. In 2006 she cut, accompanied by the Metropole Orkest directed by Vince Mendoza, the Look of Love album with Burt Bacharach songs for the Blue Note label. Already at the CD presentation Trijntje received a platinum CD for the sale of 70000 albums. In 2007 The Look of Love was followed by a second CD with Bacharach songs and the Mendoza conducted Metropole Orkest entitled Who'll Speak For Love. In 2019 Trijntje, again with the Metropole Orkest, celebrated her 25 year anniversary as a singer with a completely sold out concert in the 20000-seat Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.

The flugel horn is absolutely perfect - bravo to him. Such a soulful sound. Vocals are also very good. Beautiful version of this song and so well arranged.
Trijntje is my niece. Always a pleasure to see her at family gatherings in Helsinki. She loves to sing for us and, if pressed, will bring out her collection of ancient Roman artefacts. Lovely woman.

This was one of the last music recordings I played for my mother before she died at 95 after my father died the year before. She could not speak, but we enjoyed music together and this was best I could do to bring back great memories. Thank you T.O. and Metropole.
I can't imagine being at such age just a year after the loss of my partner, after a whole life together full of feelings... It must be one of those happy and sad feelings at the same time. Makes you cry because it's over, remembering all those moments together, and not regretting anything. Just waiting for the time to say goodbye too, after realizing life has been fully lived. Surely one kind of ending I'm looking forward to have. If it was a matter of choice, I would rather endure the pain of the loss of my partner than let my partner go though that. I'm just 20. Who is this tremendous talent. I never heard of her before. Exquisite vocals. Now Dusty and Dionne are on another island. They are the gold standard for this song, so I won't begin to compare. But this has to be the best modern day version of this song that I have ever heard in my entire life. Just brilliant. The control in her voice and it seems effortless. Why haven't I heard of this artist whose name I cannot pronounce? She's just great.

I'll never understand how people can disagree about great music. There's always someone who says A sings better than B. Folks, some people like chocolate and some people like vanilla, it's a personal preference. So why is there ALWAYS someone who just HAS to insist that one is better than the other?? They're BOTH great for heaven's sake! You don't have to tell everyone that your preference is better than theirs.

I will always love this song. I've heard so many versions and they ALL sound great. This is the first I've heard of this artist she sound so good. I love to hear Anita Baker and Isaac Hayes versions as well as Dionne Warwick and Diana Krall. Burt Bacharach made such a beautiful song and so many more songs. May he Rest In Peace.

No offense Dionne Warwick, or Dusty Springfield who are both lovely, but on this album which I own, Trijntje carries off the essense of Burt Bacharach effortlessly. I only wish the US audience knew of this great recording. My deepest sympathies regarding Burt's recent passing. His music will live on.

I have heard the Metropole Orchestra previously and they are exceptional. This is my first time hearing Trijntje and she has such a beautiful voice and her phrasing is impeccable.
Oh, man, this is one of those stellar vocalists who we are lucky to stumble upon. And what a great trumpeter, orchestra, and arrangements, too. I'm so glad someone else is keeping these great Bacharach songs alive! If you like her, check out Emilie-Claire Barlow, who has been a big fave for years. Trijntje is now another!
