Born in Edgemere. You didn't walk at night. You didnt go through the back door of the building. My gma lived in the back building on the 2nd floor. Evening we never got near the window. Mom got held up twice and moved to Texas months later. My uncle walked us out every day due to her work schedule. Visited every other summer and my daughter does now every so often. Im proud of myself and especially my older cousin whos a boy that made it out and college educated. My gma and aunt are still there. The neighborhood knows them...they are unwritten safe there. The gangs dont mess with them and they watched some of them grow from young kids to some being thugs. When we say proudly we qre from there is because we made it out. Its survival and abrupt street sense learned. Born Far Rock ..Always Far Rock.
