GORGEOUS OXFORDSHIRE: A picturesque Cotswolds village & beautiful Oxford// Welcome to Oxfordshire, the charming county in England that boasts not only stunning Cotswolds villages but also the captivating city of Oxford. We stayed at the Old Swan in Minster Lovell which is a quaint and charming inn from the 15th century. Minster Lovell is the perfect Cotswolds village too so we take you on a morning walk to share some of its stunning scenery. You also find Minster Lovell Hall there, nowadays ruins from a 15th century English Manor House. But the enchantment doesn't end there. Oxford, renowned for its prestigious colleges, is an absolute gem waiting to be explored. The city's majestic architecture showcases a seamless fusion of medieval charm and academic grandeur. Admire the impressive spires of iconic college buildings and soak in the intellectual atmosphere that engulfs the streets. We visit Bodleian Library with its Divinity School and Duke Humfrey's Library, something you wouldn't want to miss when visiting Oxford. It doesn't end here: We go up the tower of St. Mary's Church where you can enjoy the most magnificent view of Oxford. Last but not least a tour of Christ Church College is a must not only because it's one of the largest colleges but because it's a famous filming location (yes, Harry Potter). Oxfordshire is so beautiful as Cotswolds villages and Oxford seem to merge seamlessly. Enjoy! Kirsten & Joerg

  • Isn't it amazing how craftsmen from so long ago had the skills and mindset to create such beautiful buildings that have lasted for hundreds of years. England certainly has a lot of wonderful architecture, from the smallest, quaint cottage to the most magnificent castles. You are so lucky to be able to go and enjoy them.   • My daughter attends Oxford University and is at New College which was actually built in 1379! You guys would love it as it is where alot of Harry Potter was filmed also and looks like a castle. My daughter has spent all day today studying in the bodleian library which makes her feel as if she goes to Hogwarts school!

  • Thank you so much, once again. This was a treat. I was thinking about the smell of the old books in Sir Humphreys(?) Library and you both commented on that.😘 As Joerg said, "Oxford, murder mystery capital!" You might have thought you'd see Endeavour, Lewis or Morse any moment. Thank you for all you were able to film and show us on such cold but clear days. It was definitely Hogwarts, the film-makers must have had so much to select from for each scene. I hope you may go again. Your stay at Minster Lovell looked so cosy. I see what you mean when you say it's a convenient base. (Mouth watering pastries and cakes too)🥧☕.

  • Lovely vlog. Thanks for sharing. We watch Harry Potter every year in the Advent/Christmas period to😊. I took my boys to Oxford last summer and we did our own "Harry Potter" tour... it was SO BUSY we didn't get to go everywhere we wanted. But we saw quite a few places used in Harry Potter...including Christchurch college. My 11yr old son loved listening to it.. he listened to the kids and adult info at every stop!

What an amazing place to visit and I so very much enjoyed it and was so glad you got to get a little sunshine while you were visiting, those days are always so much better than gray days, which we have had a lot of here in the south of the USA because of snow lately. That is one beautiful city and I hope you go back someday and film some more.

  • Oh my! Just wow. Such a beautiful place, even in January. Absolutely love your cottage. I know that wood fire felt wonderful after coming in from a cold evening with a tum full of delicious dinner. Ahhh.....Sweet, not to mention very romantic. I love the architecture. So much history and beauty. I could never learn anything there. I'd be in constant awe of the scenery. Thank you for another wonderful experience! Safe travels!
