RedxNinja. He was force to wear it by ABC, even made him sign a contract to wear it and not take it off when he got on the cable. He does not like safety ropes or harness or safety nets. He believes they are distractions and give a false sense of security. He was made after a little fun he had in Baltimore, where he pretended to slip on tight rope walk he did for Ripleys, about 30 days or before Niagara falls. Scare the scrap out of the ABC executives, so they made him wear it, otherwise the walk would be canceled.

But your right, Petit's walk was arguably tougher after hiding for hours overnight under a tarp to avoid being caught. The wire he walked was thinner and he walked back and forth 8 times (over 1600 ft) did stunts, and used a 60lb balancing pole instead of 40lbs which Wallenda used.

Originally from Niagara Falls USA, but live in the Florida Panhandle (Pensacola first, now Panama City) since retiring from the Navy in 1988. Was working the evening shift on one of the wards of a local Mental Health Hospital at the time, and the patients lounge was at the other end of the hallway, and made frequent stops there while doing my rounds.
Legend alert
The two of them are in the same league. Such ultra-complex "Man On Wire" endeavors are all but impossible these post 9-11 days. Hats off to them both.
I remember watching this at midnight when I was 6 yes it was New Year’s Eve that’s why so late

He is epic! Even though he had a rope attached to him, still, he had nerves of steel to accomplish something like this! I salute you, Nik!
He didn't want to do it with the rope. But I'm pretty sure they forced him to.
Yeah. That's what I said. "Pretty sure they forced him to."
news reporter says steps from history I'm like he already did history Lol

Canadian official: "This passport is no good. Walk back."
His definitely bloody brave a man no doubt
But your right, Petit's walk was arguably tougher after hiding for hours overnight under a tarp to avoid being caught. The wire he walked was thinner and he walked back and forth 8 times (over 1600 ft) did stunts, and used a 60lb balancing pole instead of 40lbs which Wallenda used.
Very well done
