  • Fun fact about Portal: chamber 14 is notorious for being, ya' know, bloody easy to speedrun. Valve actually noticed that from playtesting and let the "ninja solution" stay in because it "arguable [took] more skill than solving the puzzle properly". So, uhh, a good way to design puzzles is to have people test it and if the unintended solution is really smart to just leave it in, it congratulates the people who take the time to think through everything.

It’s painfully obvious to you that you need to choose x. The user chooses A, which is a glitch in a specific circumstance you would never have dreamed of, and breaks everything.

  • You could start a whole series just on solving user puzzels. Don't underestimate the interest this would generate. People would probably love seeing you break their puzzles, and of course a series like this would prompt more puzzle creators to make even higher quality puzzles. Even if it's just a bunch of 5 minute videos for each puzzle, I bet people would love it. You've really tapped into something special here, you may very well be able to catalyze a scattered community into a very energized and focused trend.

    • There's a massive difference in judgement there. An escape room in a video game is, well, in a video game. Video games have their own set of laws that you cannot disobey without changing the game itself, meaning you can literally just design it with them in mind. Especially if you're going to use Minecraft's mechanics anyway. You can make stuff unbreakable and whatnot. Escape rooms in real life are bound to real life's laws, meaning that anything you can do in real life, you can do to that escape room.

  • for anybody wondering the crawling animation is weird under the ghost block door because its only client side. Ghost blocks are blocks that the client thinks exist, but don't, so the client behaves like they are there, but the server knows they aren't, so when you go into crawl, you're not actually crawling according to the game server, but your client thinks you are. Which is why movement mechanics are weird, the game is forcing you to where you should be, since you aren't crawling, but your camera is where it would be if you were crawling. technical minecraft is fun, i promise.

  • Ok, so for the part where you have to cross a huge gap with them stairs getting waterlogged, it's quite simple and I learned that from a streamer. First of all, lava cannot get waterlogged on any block by right clicking. So now, your gonna place the lava, jump in it and slowly make your way towards the end by quitting and rejoining the game since there is a little window when joining where you can't get damage from lava. And at the end tower up with the blocks we have However, I DO believe he let us being able to collect the water in case we didnt know about that. You're Welcome :)

  • if a "puzzle box" has rules for you to follow, this may be a "work around" but it's still a puzzle but just that it's one that demands your cooperation which is a special kind of puzzle that wants to challenge you but also allow you to use things you otherwise couldn't had been able to use. Think of it like it's simulating you "having something" and that "something" broke.

      @plighting_engineerd@plighting_engineerd Жыл бұрын
    • @@plighting_engineerd I actually didn't know that he had already said that in a stream.. Though I respectfully disagree with you in saying that we can be 100% certain because I am counting in the small possibilities in my assumption, if you can't think of any, some of them could be AI creation or untruthfulness. Actually... I guess you can be because you are, aren't you? Thinking about it now I think that my brain was taking 100% certainty as 100% correctness so I think I actually agree with you after only a couple tens of seconds of writing. Sorry if I annoyed you or any one who may be reading this curious to see what I said because it seemed so long and just recently clicked the read more button, the reason I wrote this is just because I enjoy going down rabbit holes of what is technically true or not and correcting it or like I did here, try to correct it but end up counteracting my argument halfway through. I think I'm going to stop writing now because I am starting to worry that I might be starting to get close or at least somewhat close to the comment word limit, quite simply because I forgot how high it is, though I may be completely wrong and the word limit is way higher than how many words I have wrote. That's all I'm going to say for now, so goodbye to anyone who is reading this.

  • The solution to 13:20 is to crawl back and collect your stuff then when you placed the water to get through the tunnel your water turned the lava to cobblestone but if your lava was still their you could build a cobblestone generator and use the piston and redstone torch to push the cobblestone and once the piston couldn't push anymore just move the cobblestone generator by breaking and replacing it but put it on your cobblestone bridge

  • Honestly, I feel like more escape rooms should hide stuff in the ceiling, people have a sort of blind spot for looking up. Also, that last puzzle box was just… so nice. Puzzle boxes feel a lot more calm and low pressure than escape rooms, and instead of offering an aggressive challenge, it provokes more of a sense of “oh, I have options, I can try multiple methods for the same results!” It feels better, and I know it’s just a change in words, but I feel it makes a big difference.
