  • The roughest thing in this video is that, unlike in previous cases where we saw 1 or 2 metal beast fighting and being completly destroyed now we have seen a human being in that vehicle, we could almost see his face, and he disappeared in the deadly mix of shrapnels, vehicle parts and a fire balls within a blink of an eye in front of our very eyes. And it doesn't matter if it is Russian or Ukranian, seeing such a brutal, unhumane end of a life is tragical. At least he didn't suffer, probably he didn't feel it at all, he didn't have time for it. And this reminds me when I said the best use of a weapon system is when we use it for parading and power demonstrations, and the most succesful wars are the ones which are being fought on military parades. Thanks for the video.

At the start of footage you see something hit the tank, either a mine or ATGM, you then see the tank deploy smoke and start moving erratically. This could also be the reason you see the commander hatch up as he’s most likely trying to direct the driver, releasing that they are drifting into the field which is probably mined he directs them back onto the road inadvertently exposing their side

    @spiff1003@spiff10037 ай бұрын
  • i would personally deduce the fact that a missle clearly caused the destruction of the tank and for it to explode however i think it was signified more by the ammuntion within the tank. its quite common for ammunition in tanks to heat up or shoot projectiles in many directions like a granade and if it happens to be the tank rounds that was the cause of a signified explosion, it could be quite likely one of the rounds penetrated and shot out the side of the tank while most if not all others exploded from the inside and not make it far enough or have enough force to penetrate the tank armour. from the kinetic energy build up, i would say that would likely be the main cause for the tank turret blasting off the tank its self. cant be certain but its open possibilities.

  • IMO the dust kicking up from the right is from the tank's main gun firing. Yes it appears to be pointing the wrong direction for that, but it may well have gone off as the turret was being blown off. Which could have had the gun pointing in a different direction than we see it in the final frame before detonation....Though I agree it looks like an ATGM struck it, it's also possible the tank hit a mine. After all it explodes just as it crosses back on the dirt road.

  • I get it that the color of the projectile may be altered from our view due to its speed captured by a drone camera, but given that it appears to be white/grey and long and thin, I doubt it is an ATGM. It can't be an RPG, I could be wrong but yes they tend to be somewhat long and part of it is thin (the rear), but the warhead isn't thin. They aren't usually fully white/grey as far as I know. Pretty much most shoulder-fired AT weapons don't fit the description based on my knowledge (I could be wrong). No way it is Javelin, TOW or NLAW (I think that I've heard that NLAWs can do direct fire, but they have a very distinctive shape, color and I haven't seen them in forever in Ukraine). Attack angle and the shape of the projectile differs too much. So it can either be a tank gun APFSDS round or a recoilless round. I'm also open-minded for the possibility that it could be a captured Kornet missile. They might just barely fit the shape and even the color so perhaps that is my best guess because I doubt that a APFSDS or a recoilless round at the front of a T-90 could ignite it that bad. Those last two could if all the stars are aligned, but it is almost certainly, in my opinion, more the result of an ATGM with a tandem warhead.

  • Regardless of what everyone thinks, those couple of years have shown that everyone's tank can turned into space rocket. I am personally biased to the soviet tank school but even then I do admit that regardless of my thoughts on the matter F-ups will always happen even if you will be given a Death Star and then there is always the guy who use his tools and opportunities better you and thus will break even the finest toys(be it Leopard-2, T-90,Challanger-2 or Merkavas). Anyway those conflicts will require proper analysis and rethinking when it comes to tanks, their use and their protection. On one hand we have a new kid on the bloc that proves himself to be a game changer, and this is a drone. While this type of weapon despite it's potential caveats such as evolving anti-aircraft weapons and various electronic warfare systems and jammers is becoming essential, on other hand, it is still the ground troops that have to do the job and and it is useful to have a well protected vehicle that will blast away what have remained of an enemie's hard point after air forces, artillery and drones had their time with them without calling for an another lengthy round of air support or artillery.This is what tank became at this moment on Ukrainian battlefield and when it isn't available, it is substituted by light self-proppelled artillery or in some cases by using some BMP-3's with their 100mm low-pressure guns. In other words, there is still the need for tanks to this day even if they are serving more as powerful support weapon that smashes the way at mid/long range for troops to do their thing. (Now it is time for personal bias, so I have to apologise if my chairman commando expertise sounds offensive): Personaly I think russian tanks are fine and after seeing it's rivals being used and destroyed, now I'm sure that they are even more than fine considering how much their rivals weight and cost have bloated in space of few decades to the point that Americans had to create a new combat vehicle which is totally not a tank but performs many of it's functions(Booker)because their tanks became too cumbersome and costly when it comes to the logistical mobility. You may laugh all you want about russian tanks, their problems and flaws, but get a better look at them and can see that there is a lot of thought that have been put in their design especially when it comes to the weight management.I simply believe that it it is something that they actually have done right. It doesn't make them the best thing since sliced bread, but I personally think that western tanks are worse in a sense that they can perform simmillar tasks while being more heavy and more expensive. Yes I do admit that majority of western tanks have many features that outright beat russian tanks, but what worth are they if they still get blasted almost as spectaculary?

Generally we would close the hatches for the commander and loader if operating somewhere infantry could sneak up on us. T-72s however have been taking up less and less of the loss share while being replaced by T-80 losses. Similarly, more and more of those T-80 losses are of older T-80B/BV models. The evidence seems to indicate that Russia is running out of modernized tanks overall and that T-90M production and T-80BVM upgrades are only enough to replace ~10% of combat losses of tanks. The overall quality of the tank force is being attrited. A similar pattern can be seen in IFV losses, with more BMP-1s now being lost in fighting than BMP-2s. Check out Perun's video from September for more analysis, but it appears that the middle is falling out of Russia's armored forces.

It seems to be the trend across most if not all of the western made vehicles. The designs go to great lengths to make sure that ammo hits are extremely difficult, and when when they do happen the blowout panels will help the crew survive even when the tank is totalled. Red has made videos about it, and comparing things like Bradley's and BMPs. The chances of the crew being able to escape is significantly higher for western vehicles. • Not a single tank can withstand a direct missile hit on board with modern anti-tank complexes. And here it absolutely does not matter whether the tower flies off or not, the crew will die anyway, the kingdom of heaven to the boys. I often see questions like: "Why won't the Russians abandon this type of automatic loading, since it detonates and tears off the tower?" The answer is simple - this is exactly what happens when a hit is so deadly that the crew can no longer survive anyway, or after a long fire when the crew left a long time ago tank. The media hostile to Russia always try to present this as a huge problem of Russian tanks, however, if there was an Abrams, or a Merkava, or even a mythical Panther in this place, the result would be the same.

    • For an autoloader? Sure. For a carrousel autoloader? Very difficult. The issue is that the carrousel goes around the entire turret - the only place you can put those panels is beneath the hull and that has the double issues of: 1: That doesn't leave a lot of room for the blast to go, meaning much of it is still going to get redirected back up into the magazine. 2: It would weaken the floor which is just generally undesirable for a long list of reasons.
