  • Dear Friends,Please don't let dogs eat grapes, their system cannot handle them and fermentation takes place in their bodies and shut their kidneys down. I didn't believe it either, but it is true. Please take care of yourselves and congratulations on 100 wonderful videos. Thank you so much.

At first I thought that I'd only stick for few more episodes. Well, it's episode 100 and I'm still here, and I haven't missed a single episode since :D

  • Great video! Just as a heads up, the foam insulation will shrink over time so your floor will start to bow without supports in the floor. People walking on that foam will break it down quickly. Having the insulation between the gaps in a subfloor alleviates this issue. Hopefully this doesn't cause issues for you all down the line!

    • I was wondering why they didnt run stingers to support the floor boards. This was a big mistake.

      @chriscoralAloha@chriscoralAloha7 ай бұрын
    • This foam is old, it has already shrunk (if it was going to shrink at all, that is very dependent on the specific type of foam). If people were walking on it directly, I agree it would crush, but with the plywood spreading the load it would take 6-8 people standing on one board to exert a pressure equivalent to poking your fingertip into the foam as hard as you can. I think the floor will last longer than other parts of this trailer 😂

    @martybartfast1@martybartfast17 ай бұрын
    • Some dogs are not sensitive to grapes and can eat them. Since Chester has probably done this before he's probably not sensitive. Bad idea to let your dog try a grape for the first time though, very risky

      @connorm9176@connorm91767 ай бұрын
    • There is no amount of grape consumption that is safe for dogs. Period. Their kidneys are prone to failure, and while some are less sensitive there is nearly guaranteed damage.

    • @@harrybaldwin7517 I don't think that's a good comparison. No evidence that I could find of long term (chronic) effects due to grapes in non sensitive dogs. I also have anecdotal evidence (secondhand I'm not giving grapes to dogs to see what happens lol) that there are dogs that eat grapes and don't have any health issues from it. Poison ivy is probably a better analogy. Some people are affected the next day, some people are never affected.

  • Been here since the beginning. Technically even way before during PP when the idea first came to mind. I really liked the idea of building a self sufficient sustainable community somewhere on a land and have enjoyed the journey a lot. What I have learned form viewing is, that it's not as shiny as one might dream it up, it's a lot of dirty work (of which we only see parts or timelapses) and not as idealisticly possible as one might imagine. Still, I love what you're doing and hope you will continue doing so. :) Keep it up!

  • I just have to say, going to get that insulation from the scrapyard, then laying it down on the floor like that, using the scrap plywood over top, is genius. Many tens of thousands of Americans live in mobile home trailers which would benefit greatly from that kind of floor insulation. It makes me wonder if there are any scrap yards in America as well organized as the one you go to there in Portugal. Every one of the 50 states here is really like its' own country in many ways.

  • Great video! 👏👏👏👍 1) same biogas principle works on poop factory as well (y'all will have to think of something for the smell though. 2) Charcoal can be made from Mimosa logs. These can be used for cooking & heating. It is quite simple to make a smokless burner (lots of plans on the internet) + charcoal made from wood gives very less smoke as compared to the stone one. 3) Additionally, the leaves & chips & bark from mimosa can be turned into green manure for plants. (a) dig a trench system ie. 4 - 5 trenches parallel to each other. (b) fill up the first one with leaves & bark & green waste etc. (c) intermittently pour some mud also just a fine covering. (d) once the trench is full, top it off with some mud. (e) dig a hole towards one end of the trench & put 1kg of live earthworms @ the bottom, fill up the hole and seal it off. (f) now soak it with water completely & cover it with tarp. (g) check frequently for moisture level "keep it moist - always" (h) now goto trench no2 & start filling that up. (i) keep checking #1 to see if the earthworms are visible on the top. (j) if yes! then cut the wall to the adjoining #2 on the opposite side 6" to 1' wide all the way down, from where the earthworms had been put @ first. they'll migrate to #2 on there own in a week ir so; and now you have #1 ready, filled with A grade manure (quite costly also). Once all trenches are done, a channel can be dug leading back to #1. Keep the cycle going! A trench of the size of 4" wide × 12" long × 3" deep should take a couple of months to turn with 1+ kg of earthworms. Might have to replenish the worm count from time to time based on how long it's taking them to eat through compared to first cycle.
