Here in the UK you pay a flat £9.65 (that's $12 or so) for every prescription regardless of what it is. We can't believe that over the years the US has allowed it's pharma companies to gouge people way beyond what's reasonable or appropriate. Usually , in the EU countries , we do not pay for things when we need them when it comes to health and medicine - well that is not always true - but the highest ever bill I paid in my life for pills was ~50 EU. Read my post above - my mum had a cancer and I had to pay ZERO Euros for every single thing she needed (chemotherapy, pills ..etc )

If i use my insurance, a prescription of mine cost over 500.00 per refill. If i use good rx instead of insurance it costs 14.00. Something is wrong

I know many senior citizens going to other countries to have their dental work done and some medical surgeries. The trip, stay, and procedures come out way less than the procedures alone in the United States. Many of the doctors and dentists received their education in the United States.

I've seen elderly people selling their furniture to pay their medical bills. Work all your life and end up selling anything that's not nailed down... There are a lot of tragic stories of people who end up with nothing after health care disasters.
Two out of three Americans are overweight or obese; the rate of obesity-related Type 2 diabetes is skyrocketing. If anyone is interested in lowering US health care costs, they need to help people get healthy. Reducing junk food and fast food is a good start. Easy to create a bad guy -- harder to admit we are the problem.
Type 2 diabetes is also hereditary... I don't eat junk food and no sugar. Exercise all the time. Still got diabetes after I was ,63..
