  • Because of this show I've started getting into cars. My first car that I've found 2 months ago was a Renault 4 in a barn. A pretty rare version of them here in Portugal. Because of the laws we cant do this type of barn finding but I've managed to be lucky and get it's papers. Hope the show gets bigger!

Most of these Hoarders want retail prices for their unrestored cars.

  • Tom, even in 1974, the GTX with the 440 had the hi-po (police spec) engine, which made a respectable 275 net horsepower. My brother had a '74 Monaco police car (which he got in '75 when the Sheriff's department turned it in for their new fleet of identical cars!), and it had the 400 hi-po, which was rated at 250 net hp. My dad's '74 Plymouth wagon, which had the civilian 400 2-bbl, had just 190 hp. The optional civilian 4-bbl had around 205 hp.

    • Christopher G I had a 73 polara police high speed pursuit pkg. It wasnt super quick but it would bury the 140 mph speedometer. It had 2 bullet holes in it 1 in the door 1 in door post. I never got out ran top speed but my 70 BB Chevelle was quicker. I loved to hear that big thermoquad on that 440. My buddy told me it had the good magnum heads but according to the factory none were built with them after 72 but hey my uncle had a 70 monte carlo with a bb402 4 spd. 1 of only 4 that had 4 spds(in chevelles they had 402's also but still called them 396) although they dodnt have a 4spd option, all were ordered by employees so who knows...

  • Back in Somervile, Massachusetts ford finally sold the old Somervile assembly plant which closed in 1959. A buddy of mine the construction company he worked for got the job to clean out the plant so the owner could convert it to a shopping mall and was told whatever is there I want gone. At the north end of the old plant they found it walled off with plywood from floor to ceiling with a single man door with a padlock on it. One hammer strike later and the door was open and everybody froze when the looked inside. There were 62 cars sitting there up on blocks all covered with plastic, the most miles any of them had was 8.4 miles. They were all 1959 Ford Edsels in perfect condition. Everyone wanted one, ( there were only 18 employees) the boss said everyone would get a car the next morning. When everyone showed up the next morning all the cars were gone. The boss sold them overnight and as Ross told me he got just over $2 million bucks for them. He would have been better selling one of each to each employee because by the time the contract to clean out the old plant every single Caterpillar had burned up or been destroyed by the employees as they were very upset. It cost the owner of the construction company a lot of money to replace all the cat machines he had some of them were destroyed 4 times before the job was done. He threatened to call the cops on his employees and they told him right to his face go ahead, you won't be here when the cops arrive. He never called the cops and spent more than he got for the Edsel's in buying new replacement equipment. Damn shame. Thank you young lady for the look into the past farm wise as it is a beautiful thing to see and sad at the same time.

From the looks of the pistons out of the V-8 Pegaso, how did it run on pump gas? Normally, a piston in that configuration the compression ratio would have to be 12.5-1. Anyone?

    • The problem is people watch shows like this, and then think that their unrestored car is worth a whole lot more than it really is. I haven't seen any cars purchased on any of the episodes of this show that I've watched so far. So it's likely to say, the prices are a bit High when talking price point. Most of these guys are just Porter's who have no real concept of buying and selling. They just buy them for cheap and hold on to them, and ascribe some sort of value in their own deluded mind.

(2.3L 8 plug fuel injected 5 speed) The Guy With Barn After Barn Of Classics Blew Me Away! Thanks For The Program. If I won the lottery tomorrow, I would Not buy A New Car, But perhaps A 54 Buick Roadmaster Or Something Along Those Lines. Thanks Again!
