  • You guys should totally make a storage bench seat for the dining area along the 2 walls! It's a perfect storage solution that's super easy, looks good, and provides more seating for around the table. Plus you guys can decorate it with nice cushions and pillows 😊

    • Also adding a long narrow shelf along the straight wall above the seating area would give you guys a cute space to add decor like pictures, display items, and little plants to liven up that area a bit and bring more color and interest to it. You can also bring in color and interest with the cushions and pillows on the bench. Make it look all pretty and comfy and inviting! You'd basically have a second couch but bigger, built-in, and has lots of storage space! All of these ideas are super easy to do yourself and are relatively quick and simple to do but overall it does SO much to the space functionally and aesthetically. The benches provide a ton of quick and easy storage that's tucked away out of sight (and you can never have enough storage especially in a small home), gives you plenty of seating and the ability to host more people, plus it just looks good! 😊

  • Yes, just pick the outer leaves off the lettuce and let it keep growing. Those are nice looking green beans too. You can plant radishes and some other plants in succession, putting in seeds every few weeks to keep things growing as you harvest. The storage area and desk look great! Love the idea of the workshop under the house someday too.

  • DO NOT USE A KITCHEN SPONGE FOR GROUTING. You need to buy a grouting sponge. it’s a big sponge that looks like a car wash sponge. Rinse the sponge and squeeze out all the water and rinse off the tiles after grouting. You’ll have to do it 2 to 3 times. There should only be a very, very thin veil of grout over the tiles after you wipe them down & wait 24 hrs for the grout to dry. This thin veil of grout is easily wiped away after the grout has completely dried. You definitely should not have that thick layer of grout on the tiles while your grout is drying. You’ll find the job is much easier with a grout sponge and it’s very cheap so no excuse not to buy it.

  • I should say a few words about TERMITES. I had to throw out 9 huge bookshelves here in Alto Boquete and make new ones. When termites get into painted wood, it is NOT salvageable once the termites get in. I suggest you get that raw wood treated for termites soonest.

  • About your garden. Both your beans and peas need tall sticks with nets stretched across so they have something to climb up on. Otherwise they will get mildew from being on the ground. Beet greens are also delicious to eat hot or cold in a salad. Put up night time camera's out around the chicken coup. You want to know exactly what type of wild cat is trying to kill more of your chickens. You all need to know so that all of you are safe especially Sadie. You can always buy more chickens or goats, but Sadie is irreplaceable.

  • Rodrigo next time when you are putting a top on for counter/ cabinet and you only have room for 1 board and a half of another board always up the half board on the back and the whole board up. front so that the seam is towards the back and less noticeable . Also when using wood putty and white paint get white putty or paint the boards 3 times so you don't see the darker putty coming through the paint. You did awesome building your storage space and will still be going strong when Ikea storage cabinet will fall apart in know time. Now get that laundry room started or build you a lean-to which is 4 post and a top basically a barn with no walls, so you can still build, cut wood etc.. when it rains.

Jordan will be so jealous of your all weather workshop under the house. so you can build very rough storage shelves or whatever with rough cuts or whatever you can find in the jungle. for all your tools and stuff as your little cute cozy storage is very nice but hardly enough. store your junk under the house, don't worry about flooring. do a rough lean to shelter to the side of the house for a larger sheltered work area. do everything rough so less work and you can use it faster and if it break just replace it.

  • Freddie and Rodrigo, You always brighten my day. Thank you! My wife and I bought our first little house when I was 26 years old and she was 23. We worked together on the house on weekends and nights while working regular full time jobs. We have been married 41 years now and we are working on remodeling a house that we bought that is 133 years old. It's harder and not as fun as it was when I was your age, but it is coming along nicely, slowly but surely. Much love from Craig & Michelle in Utah, USA.

  • If your not painting ALL SIDES OF THE WOOD....It's not protected!!! You need to completely seal the wood from all sides.

  • Suggestion: when you make a counter top and you have a small piece and a large piece, put there smaller on the inside so the seam is more invisible.

  • It’s looking great and finishes the living room area off nicely.Frankie can have some pretty things in there now and it will feel more like a home. You have both worked hard to get this far.But you have done it yourselves which makes it more special,as well as that you have made some amazing memories. Those are important because as you get older they mean so much more than at the time.Believe me.I am nearly 70 and memories are precious to me .Plus yours are recorded..Sending you both ,and all your fur babies love 🥰

  • Beautiful project you two. Rather than taking up your open surfaces with photos, I think a collage of frames hanging on the wall of the staircase with all of your animals & personal trips would really showcase them without cluttering clean spaces. Just my 2 cents. Love you guys. Give Roger a kiss for me.

  • I know it’s too late, but I have a suggestion for the storage room. Put long drawers with heavy duty sliders on the floor, allowing them to pull all the way out, then you can stack shelving on top of the drawers without worrying about how to access things tucked away under the angle of the wall.

  • Add more water to grout so that it goes down in between the tiles and holds them tighter to the floor. Gout serves a structural function, making the tile more solid and well attached. (Watch some KZhead videos showing what I'm talking about) Ha!

    • Yes…I was searching for a comment on the grout. Rod, you need to wipe down the grout before it dries on the tiles. Use a bucket with just water and either a big sponge or a very damp cloth. The goal is for it NOT to dry on the tile surface. I have always done a bit at a time, wiping and being sure no grit is left on the surface by wringing out the water and rinse rinse rinse. You will be so happy with the results. ❤

  • Cats love boxes & paper bags. The cat me & my wife had loved Pepsi cartons. When he was a kitten he would play and hide in the 12 pack boxes. One day I heard a big ripping sound and started buying the 24 pack Pepsi because I realized he had grown to big for the 12 packs. He would get in them and swat at us a we walked by. He also would get in a big paper grocery bag and swat at us from inside those too.

  • Place your new laundry machines on a storage platform so that you dont have to bend down so much. You can place drawers in this platform to store your dirty and clean laundry, or cleaning products etc. Build another storage area above your laundry machines as well with cupboard doors for more storage. Also use the laundry area to place your dirty shoes and jackets before entering your home with a bench to sit on.

  • Please (for the love of god) just give Moo Moo to the farmer next door. She deserves to be with other animals. Cows are social creatures. This is why she keeps escaping.

  • Where your laundry room is where the breaker box is literally from there right to the outside wall I would make a huge closet from floor to ceiling so you have somewhere to hang clothing put your washer and dryer on the where the window is you need to have at least one closet and you to cover up the breaker box. Just think about it.

  • I would open the washer an dryer box to make sure they work. And not have a defective one, better safe then sorry. Especially if you're not going to open the boxes. Or use them until July. You don't want to be out of your warranty and them say? Oh, you had him for this long and you didn't check them
