  • Ewing had the biggest heart that you can imagine. One of my all time favourite centers of all times. A great role model of John Thompson to have and of course his beloved mother and father. He may not have won a NBA title, but he played like he won one every year.

  • He’s my all time favorite player. He didn’t have rings, but he payed the game the right way, composed and respectful but still feared by competitors, never punched any women or got pulled over drunk, no drugs, I don’t even remember him cursing in gameplay ever. Just seemed like good people.

He came into the game with his bandage in his knees and arms and started to block everyone in the middle !!! .i loved the way he grabed the rebounds ,he had a spectacular style in this !!!! Patrick Aloysius Ewing thank you very much for all the memories man !!! I.You will be for ever my favorite player in the middle !!!!

  • 12:30 I can relate. I was born in Seattle in 1973, Sonics and Blazers fan. My Dad unexpectedly passed away in March 2003 (we think from an embolism). Life hasn't been the same for me since. 1993-2002 was mostly good times. 1993-94 was one of the BEST times of my life, and 1996 was pretty special, too. After my Dad's passing in 2003, I thought that I was going to bring my own life to an abrupt end.

  • And the following season 3-2 lead in the finals but Hakeem Olajuwon had other ideas, he blocked John Starks game winning attempt in Game 6 and the Rockets finished off the Knicks in 7. And in 1995, Ewing blew a layup in Game 7 eastern semis against Indiana that would have forced OT. It shows you how tough it is to win in this league. Even Karl Malone and Charles Barkley missed out on championships as well. They were great players who are truly deserving of their HOF status, but the competition is tough. Also Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, etc were greater when it mattered. But Patrick Ewing was a legend, he was one of the strongest in the league, could make some very tough shots, he did it all, he was brave.

    • Ewing and Bird are two-fifths of my all-time best five man lineup. IMO, Ewing’s outside shooting and reliability from the FT line make him the most “scalable” of the great defensive centers. Ewing-Bird-KG-KD-MJ. Ridiculous defense, off the charts length and athleticism, insane bbiq, incredible rebounding, two great-from-anywhere with three elite-from-midrange shooters, four players with the capability to be any team’s primary playmaker, no ball-dominant players, great off-ball and on-ball offense. MJ to bring the ball up the floor. Ewing with the bulk to bang with the likes of Shaq or Wilt. Good to great FT shooting everywhere, so no hack-a worries. Work ethic, competitiveness, ability to play through pain.
