How about the creepiest games that aren't actually supposed to be creepy?
8 iconic games with the worst mechanics
The mafia games should be on that list, i love them but the movement in those games feel quite ass, it feels so floaty 🤷♂️
Lmfaoooo pls not Psy breaking out the Psylincher, they were readyyyyy😂😂😂😭☠️
Was ready for them to take Jules down 😅.
Nothing makes you appreciate a good stealth game like a bad stealth game. It’s fantastic when a title strikes that perfect balance between AI that feels natural and intelligent while still being consistent and winnable. Horizon forbidden west is the most recent one I’ve played that struck a good note in the stealth play. I liked how stealth takedowns aren’t undetectable they’re just more quiet.
Psy and Jules are the best combo! Love you both! How about 8 games based on anime shows, that are actually great
I tried Thief (2014) but then put it down when 10 min in I checkpointed RIGHT as I got spotted.
10 video games Jules hates the most Also surprised Spider-Man & Spider-Man 2’s MJ stealth sections weren’t on here
GTA has terrible stealth mechanics, but no one would consider it a “stealth game”. Perhaps that’s the same logic with Spiderman?
Yeah, wouldn’t consider them stealth games though. Just small sections in an open world action adventure game.
8 games once patched became unplayable
Top 10 villains in video games that actually wanted the protagonists' plans to succeed.
Jecht from FFX.
The Boss from MGS3
Ngl, that sounds like a cool idea
@maxg3850 Thank ya, thank ya.
@@PeanutButterAndJellyBros Liquid from MGS.
Velvet Assassin also comes to mind. Some of the buggiest and most rudimentary stealth mechanics on the planet, but I still love it nonetheless.
When I saw Deathloop footage in the intro I was ready to throw hands 😂 Arkane always has solid stealth gameplay
when everyone is dead, no one can tell you weren't stealthy
0 body count doesn't just mean the bodies they can find. (2600 Things Mr. Welch Can't Do Durring an RPG)
Concerning #4 (Alien: Isolation), I totally agree. I ended up rage quitting after getting soft locked in a small area where the xeno literally wouldn't leave. It kept rubber banding around me so I was completely trapped. Every time I tried to leave cover it would immediately know and come running. So frustrating.
I never had that problem with the game so the stealth sections weren't a problem for me until the time padding back tracking came into play. Then it was just monotonous. The stealth sections with the Working Joes however were sometimes a pain in the ass.
8 Series Where the Sequels Aren't Actually Sequels
That would be the GTA series
I 100% agree with the Alien Isolation point. I had to stop playing the game because I got to a point where I died restarted and the Alien would come and kill me in no joke 10 seconds before I could even figure out where to go.
Psy looking decidedly less dark than usual. Definitely pulling off the pastels.
8 Most Iconic Video Game Theme Songs
Guile theme song
Minecraft
Metal Gear Solid
Phew! Not going to lie, my finger was hovering over the Caps Lock button as soon as I saw the Tenchu clip. 😅 Well played sir, well played. ❤️
I'd add the last Tenchu game on Wii. That one committed two unforgivable crimes for the series: it took away the ability to fight when detected, & it banked on shoddy Wii motion controls.
The op comment was better than what you changed the title to. The stealth could still be good but going loud is more fun.
Best bright and uplifting games for rainy spring days
I had the same problem with Alien Isolation that I'd later have with the Resident Evil 2 Remake: being pursued by a stalking creature is scary until it becomes frustrating. Then you start figuring out the AI tricks and it just becomes annoying. It's patently clear that the monster is always in your vicinity and not only when it'd be justified. Both games would be much better if the monster behavior was more interesting. Say, they could be skulking around the whole map, whether you were close or not, but they could be privy to your location if you make a lot of noise. You could be encouraged to be stealthier this way, because engaging with enemies would surely be heard from far away. But no. Sometimes I shoot a dozen zombies and Mr. X is nowhere to be seen, but I'm trying to solve a puzzle and he won't go away. At some point it becomes eye-rolling.
Thanks for another top-tier video, Jules! How about Top 10 Games that are actually sequels to movies
I don’t think FNAF Security Breach has terrible stealth Jules. The stealth in FNAF Security Breach is great as Security Breach is the first game in the FNAF franchise where you aren’t kept in an office. And each of the three corrupted Glamrock Animatronics are each difficult but are able to be overcomed. Monty is the slowest of the three, so you can outrun him, but in his boss fight, he is able to leap great distances. Roxanne Wolf is the fastest of the three, but she can be stunned before she becomes destroyed, but in her boss fight she becomes blind so you got to sneak by her and trick her into ramming into stuff so you can progress. And Glamrock Chica isn’t the fastest or the slowest of the four, but just like Roxanne Wolf, she can be stunned. But in her boss fight when she becomes ruined, you don’t have a cue as to where she is because you took her voice box, so you got to keep moving. Again, I think the stealth in Security Breach is great because you got to adapt to each of the three corrupted Animatronics like you do in previous games.
I also didn't think the stealth of Alien Iso or Hitman were terrible either. Not to gate keep but my response to "Hitman stealth is terrible" is the Souls response of git gud. Sure there are some levels (Hitman 1 with the fashion show & 2 I think with the F1 race) where there are a collective dickload of people and it makes it harder, but it makes it more fun as well. As someone else said I think the OP idea of "stealthy games where going loud is more fun" was a better idea as it was definitely more fun in Hitman to kill everything that even thought about moving and on levels without the xeno to just maul the Working Joes.
Please consider this one: 8 Video Games That Should've Been DLC.
I bought Thief with my PS4 alongside TLoU. Think I played about 20 mins of Thief and have never gone back to it, however have sank so many hours into Dishonoured 1 & 2 for full stealth runs and some high chaos bloody runs.
Either games where the plot weapons don't respect player build choice (like NWN2 with the plot weapon was a "universal sword" meaning any other weapon spec doesn't help) OR games that do respect player build choices (Nioh 2 where the plot weapon is a narrative device rather than gameplay one, or Stonekeep where the plot weapon can take a form to match your weapon preference).
Worst stealth levels/quests in non-stealth games
I regard the Hitman games outside of Absolution as sandbox games with freedom to explore and interact with the locations. That's the real identity of the Hitman games and what makes them great. However you can play most Hitman games like they are stealth games too.
8 video game enemies that actually help the player. I'm talking like suicide grunts in halo or those flying bug things in devil may cry 5 that commonly hand out green/life orbs when you slay them.
Best unlockable team Combo moves. Thinking Some of the Persona 5 ones such as the cat running over someone as a van and the other using machine guns on them
I'd love to see a vid, as basic as it would be, on say, 10 best video game obtainable armors/outfits
Psy just showed their inner American 😮😂
America, heck yeah!
His. He's a boy wearing makeup.
I'm glad someone finally said it out loud...alien: isolation sucks. I quit playing after 3 or 4 hours because everything just got so frustrating. The first few times the alien shows up is scary but it loses it's horror powers very quickly and the save system was awful.
There's a game I think he should have added. Vampire Rain, now I loved the idea of the game and mostly enjoyed the story. But the fact that it was a stealth/shooter didn't do it any favors. All enemies could one shot you, they would track you if you managed to run from them, and you couldn't really kill them. Occasionally you got items in the game that let you stealth kill some enemies but the item is consumed in one use. And the one weapon that actually killed the enemies in one or two shots you didn't get until towards the end. Again, fun concept of a vampire shooter, but could've used a little more in the actual gameplay.
Suggestion: Video games you're better at when you are bad at them (meaning the game being more fun to play or actually somehow easier when the player just can't figure out how anything works)
I am right there with you Jules. I bought the collectors edition of Left Alive, and I don't even think I finished the second level. Hell, I didn't even know they made a patch to make the game kind of maybe payable.
Thief 2014 was my first of the series, and I'm glad for that. I enjoyed it, the older games are obviously better, but I had no expectations or context.
oh yes, "Rerez" once did an entire video about how crappy "left alive" is. it also has a crappy "crafting/upgrade" system that is greatly hampered by your VERY small inventory, which ALSO got a patch later!
My favorite moment of the video was when the ad came up and made the one entry Alien: KZhead Music.
8 video games that make you cry
oh no, I bought Left Alive as well, because I always loved the design work, and then everything else I refuse to remember about the game
How about weapons that were So overpowered you didn't know they were so deadly.
reminds me of a strange weapon i heard about, in some RPG... it would take away a small percentage of an enemy's health. not very useful early on, but against later bosses, it was quite useful. oh, that reminds me of Diablo 2, the "spark field" ability of the Sorceress.
7 games that have a better sidestory/quest than the main quest
How about "8 iconic NPC one liners" EX: Oblivion "I used to be an adventurer just like you. Then I took an arrow to the knee" or Elder Scrolls Online "That's no stew pot. It's my laundry"
You forgot one, there is a game called "Dark" this is how horrible the game stealth is, you can't have a pacifist route, you have to kill the guards for exp to gain and use new powers. There is no way to hide the bodies, while you can "hide" the bodies, you can't really hide them, if a guard see the body (even if it's just the body part) they will know that you're there and know your location. When a guard see's you, they all see you. There are times when a guard see's you but don't somehow, and other times when they shouldn't see you, but somehow do. It's also funny how when they made the game they had a distaste for Twilight, because the game is supposed to be around the origin of vampire, but made a game that has a story that doesn't make sense. Fun fact I want to also add in, the Left Alive game, it's from a game series called Front Mission where you piolet a mech called Wanzers, but for some reason instead of spending sometimes in the mech or most of the time in the mech, you, out of playing 3 different characters only pilot the mech twice (I believe it was twice, I just know the first time you get to use it, it's a broken Wanzer that can't walk and only has one functional arm).
top 10 games where the villain and the protagonist switch places half way through
top 10 hidden gems nobody has ever heard of
That was actually one of the shortest character creations I have seen in this game.
8 spiritual successors with no heart.
Top 10 awesome moves that your character can do to avoid getting caught/seen, such as the split jump from Splinter Cell. And I really want that game to get a remaster before Michael Ironside dies
Had my pitchfork ready when I saw a Hitman game in the thumbnail. Saw it was Absolution and put it away lol
10 games that aged really well
Most iconic video game dragons.
8 video games where fighting a crowd of enemies is *more* fun instead of *less* fun.
here's one that most will not know: Vampire Rain. You've gotta play it like how the developers want you to play it. Playing it in any other way will result in game over.
Top ten worlds based on the real world. Also, per usual, top ten swords!
What about games with amazing stealth? Sure you need good cover and the right outfits/potions to help you out but I think the BOTW/TOTK has some stellar sneaking parts that can make avoiding/starting combat more than just durable. Sometimes, if done right, it can be hilarious fun. And what did we say about playing with your toys during work hours, Psy? Nothing? Alright, just don't hit anything you care about.
Weirdest genre combinations that actually work.
10 games you were hours into before you realized it was a bad game.
Trigger control Psy….. TRIGGER CONTROL!!! 😂
6:52 Time to get my katana out of storage
Single player games that would benefit having coop play/multiplayer
The thing that I hated of Hitman absolution the most was the disguise mechanic. To me, still make no sense to this day. In a mission you can dress as a total special force operator with a full balaclava on it and your "supposed colleague", realize immediately that you're not one of them even though you didn't say a word. For the rest, I thought the game was cool but this mechanic frustrated me so much that I dropped the game half way.
"Gollum is the worst possible outcome for a stealth game" THEN WHY IS IT ONLY NUMBER THREE?!?
curious that you didn't mention that left alive was technically set in the front mission universe
SOCOM NAVY SEALS had some terrible A.I. especially your team. I couldn't wait to get caught so I could command the team to "fire at will"😅
6:55 im sorry…it that a real Glock-9 😅😮😂 I was so confused 😂 that “Stand on business “
8 games that switch genres halfway in
If I had a quid for every time a company pushed a core fan base away by trying to speak to everyone, I’d be rich
10 of the best video games with a medieval setting
Best builds ever in RPG games
The only parts of 'Alien Isolation' that I thought was hair pulling dull, was the parts with the bots. I think it comes down to game design choices. You have one alien after you (for the most part) but you can have multiple bots after you. This applies to humans as well. The bots are so stupid. They toned down their ability to find you because there will be so many. So you have this great enemy in the Xenomorph, and then this terrible enemy in the bots.
Murdered: Soul Survivor.... hated the stealth sections so much.
Games where the hero is actually the villain and the villain is actually the hero.
Top 8 nostalgic games you shouldn't replay
Next topic: games that really test our patience with all the running (interpret it how you like)
Games with *mostly good* stealth mechanics, but theres that one stealth level... *Squints at Far Cry 3
8 games that really should have been another genre
10 Remastered games that are just as good than the original
Villains that switched to the good side and then ended up getting killed not long after
Sooooooooooo, what are the best stealth games? Tenchu should be on that list.
Sticking with the subject, how about 8 worst-placed stealth sections. Nothing worse than playing a great action game and then suddenly you're not able to use any of your normal abilities and you instantly fail if you get spotted even once.
Someones prowlin' round ere'. Whats that? For the peace o da Kingdom!
Allen isolation didn't have a bad stealth mechanic. If you were sitting around that's on you for not moving. Because of the way the ai works it'll hover off you aren't moving. If you're continuously moving and staying out of sight the xenomorph is almost always playing catch up.
Did Jules start a Ork army now? I swear I did not see orks back there in the past.
Then maybe next list should be 10 shooting/action games, which provides a different less forceful way, which is fun.
8 Video Games that were saved by DLC
10 longest game series still being made/played
8 iconic games where co-op or multiplayer sucks!!!
7 memorable moments in bad games
When I first saw the title, I wondered if Thief for PS4 would even be remembered enough for it to make this list. If Thief hadn't came out early in the PS4 life cycle, I don't anyone would have bought it. Not only was the stealth garbage and running through levels was more efficient/fun, the world design to get to the levels may have been the worst in video gaming.
8 of the edgiest games that that should've come with hazard symbols
10 games where it's more fun to play as Player 2.
Great games that could have spawned a new genre but never took off
For next week episode how about cheaters in video games that get away with a good excuse and didn't get punished
How about best magic systems in games?
I'm not looking for "revolution" or "innovation" in stealth: I want it to work, and make sense... that's it... and most fail at even that...
* fetches pulse rifle with bayonet *
I played Alien Isolation. The very first alien encounter pissed me off. Everywhere I thought was safe wasn't. Looked up the answer online, the "hiding" space was beside boxes in open air. I noped out and never returned.
I loved the atmosphere of Alien Isolation but the stealth was infuriating. I was waiting on the xenomorph to go away and it just kept going back and forth in the same 8 foot stretch
