  • Nice truck. For GP when you get a chance rinse your radiator with a garden hose, pay particular attention to the lower half. That model gets dust collected 6-8 inches from the bottom and will over heat the engine after 30 to 40 minutes of driving, sooner if you're going highway speed.

    • Good advice! Whenever I get home from having either of my rigs off road i pressure wash the entire thing. That way I can check for leaks and what not.

  • I'm pretty sure the M1123 has 18" of ground clearance, it's a little more than the M998s of ol' that did have the 16" setup.

  • One Humvee downside, it's wider than most dirt roads. Tires on one side are in rocks or brush.

    • Yeah there are some drawbacks with that. But the advantage is that I can basically straddle the jeep and SxS ruts and have a much nicer drive.

  • Nice rig! How often are you changing hub and differential oil?I own a 1995 H1 that came with a stock v8 350(now a 383 built for torque). By changing my oil out with amsiol 90w I have had a huge increase in mileage. Any 90w will do. Seems to affect the hub after 6 months.

    • Interesting. I hadn’t thought about the effect on mileage. I haven’t changed it myself yet as I bought it already gone through and the mechanic is a friend of mine. I put about 3k miles on this rig since I bought it. I will probably swap fluid this spring and see how it all works out.

  • There is a kit that is available that replaces the two blank out plates on the top rear of the block with plates with fittings and a third fitting to replace a front fitting that has one of the coolant hoses attached. It basically allows one to plumb in return coolant hoses to the back of the block keeping the temperature at the rear of the engine cooler. I’ll see if I can find the video that showed this system. kzhead.info/sun/lM-zY5pvq5GoqX0/bejne.htmlsi=xi4uJtW8AbH29pgE

  • Ive recently been intrested in humvees and i love your build, but how much did this build cost you if you dont mind me asking?

    @hatsun4233@hatsun42335 ай бұрын
    • Components added to the rig are probably $2k. Its hard to say though… I have lucked out on a few things. It’s the cost of the truck that will add up fast. There are good deals out there still though.

    • And if you don't mind me asking where you got those jerry can holders and what are these bench/fence thing called in the rear

      @hatsun4233@hatsun42335 ай бұрын
    • The Jerry can holders are from the first generation of airlift bumpers only (from what i can tell.) if you go with an A2 bumper it won’t work. The “fence” things are cut down troop seat rails.

    • I'm 16 do you think this would be an ok purchase. Because I've been recently saving and I don't travel and I'm pretty much local. I've just been getting mixed results from people saying it runs normal and others saying it needs maintenance 24/7. I would like to know your opinion.

  • Where did you get the spare tire/can rack for the bumper?

    @clarksd2002@clarksd20027 ай бұрын
    • It was a lucky find here in Idaho. It’s for the first gen airlift bumper. Which I happened to have. Most that you see are the A2 models and that tire/can set up doesn’t work. The plus side is I have another 10 gallons of fuel. The down side is the tire mount is not a rhino which means I have to man handle the tire up there.

    • It was designed to carry the camo netting as the prime mover for artillery. I don’t have a NSN for it but it is listed in the -24.
