  • I have a 2000 S 6 speed ...I've had it for about 4 months now. The most fun car I've ever owned and I've owned 911s and Ferraris. Mine is silver with black leather

  • Love the porsches. As a kid in the late 70s Road & Track magazine always listed the Porsche 930T as the fastest production car 0-60mph at 5.0secs. That was a benchmark that stood for years. Nowadays the Kia StingerGT2 at 365hp will do it in 4.6secs. How times change.

  • Awesome man, don't be afraid to rev the old girl out now and then, they are engineered to be drivers cars. I always wanted to check out southern california, birthplace of so many motorsports. You gotta come to Watkins Glen, so add that to your bucket list. Glad to hear you are getting to know what a Boxster can do and is happy with doing. Peace brother!

  • Love how these ads are in my brain and get unlocked for odd reasons.This one was always a favorite. Porsche making ads is funny. Definitely for Porsche people...who ironically dont need an ad to know to come buy their cars. I loved that realization as a teen. Hope they go back to this style of ad! Looks like 2 people need to work on their accuracy. The like button is more left.....

  • The Porsche 550 is a racing sports car produced by Porsche from 1953 until 1956. In that time only 90 Porsche 550s were produced.

  • Great ad for great cars. I got a 99 986, just awesome. I've driven on 550A and it was very go kart like. Of course it was worth more then I'll ever make so I couldn't push it hard but it was very light weight and nimble.

    • brandon bentley I own a 2001 boxter S and I love it!! But I’ve always loved the 550 spyder ...I’ve never seen one let alone driven one ....did you drive the real thing or a replica ? And I think I knkw what you mean by like a go kart ...

    • Vladimir Marley It was the real deal, I'm in the PCA. Our local chapter meets around the finger lake region upstate NY. So we meet in Watkins Glen one day for a coffee tour around the lake. Porsche owners unlike Ferrari owners are really down to earth and a club member I was Bullshitting with basically gave me the keys, of course he went with me. It was not a replica, he had actually just showed me all these little details that the replicas don't have. The engine was actually rather VW like but very very free revving. The transmission is also notchy VW bug like to be honest. The car took off without effort, truly go-kart like. Raspy sound but the car has a basically tube frame and aluminum body and my Boxster with open 2 inch pipes with no muffler isn't nearly as loud. 550as are race cars through and through. Although my Boxster was inspired by the 550as it felt so much bigger when I got back in mine for the tour. I drove the 550as about 20 miles, the owner would not tell me how much he spent, he joked he will never tell his wife let alone me! He said his retirement home cost less. Incredible cars!

    • Vladimir Marley Also friend, with the 2000 to 2005 boxster 986 get your IMS bearing replaced when you do your clutch job. The later 986s only had single row bearings. My 1999 986 has the dual row and is going strong. Change your oil every 3000 miles trust me on this one. Happy motoring!

    • brandon bentley wow!!! Thanks for the reply ..my boxter has about 90,000 miles on it .i found a great Porsche mechanic now far from where I live ..he told me that the ims thing was overblown,but usually affected boxters when they had low mileage..so I should be fine ...one other thing I’ve been looking at KZhead on how to most things or small things yourself ,like I want to clean those dang radiators ..lol..also I rarely drive it ..Or drive far since I work about 5 miles from home ....but it’s a thrill to drive it ...about the oil change..I thought it was every 7,000 miles on this porsches ....

    • brandon bentley I bet it was a treat to just drive it for a bit ...the way it sounds to me is almost like the old 914s ( I used to own 2 of those ) your basic poor mans porches..but I did add dual 44 Webber’s and ansa exsaust ,koni schoks ...my 75 was real fast ...but that would be a dream for me to drive the 550 spyder 1955 ....I’m sure he paid pretty much a lot of $$$ cause the replicas are about 150,000 $$ ...anyways I wish I could meet you guys up there but I live in Los Angeles...the other side of he states ..lol ...btw ppl always thinks i paid a lot of $$ for mine since there aren’t that many boxters around here ...mine is an artic silver and black interior...I even added a Nuremberg ring badge (like the one dean had in his 550)

  • Why did the 550s have the ignition in the right of the steering wheel while Three Fifty-Sixes, 917s snd 911s have them on the left.

    @jockellis@jockellis3 жыл бұрын
    • Never noticed that before. The ignition on the left was for LeMans starts where your left hand started the car while your right was shifting into first gear.

  • You can’t compare the two and it’s insulting that Porsche tries

    @amelialee9996@amelialee99962 жыл бұрын
    • Insulting to who? Porsche made both of them, and Porsche is doing the comparison. Considering that the Boxster was intended to BE a spiritual successor to the 550, I'd say the comparison is perfectly appropriate.

      @jamesw1659@jamesw16592 ай бұрын
  • So not true. The 550 has soul, the Boxter, the Cayman and the water cooled 911 are all genetic aberations of persons who were not alive when the 550 was born. Give me a 550 and a 914-6 all the time.
