Watch the sad moment a serval mom and kitten get separated by a lioness that drives the kitten to fight for its life. Unfortunately, the kitten’s determination was no match for the lioness.
Send in your wildlife video here, and earn money: www.latestsightings.com/partn...
This unfortunate sighting was filmed by 56-year-old entrepreneur, Rikard Ryden, while on a safari in the Maasai Mara last month. Rikard Ryden, Wildlife Photography Sweden, tells LatestSightings.com the story:
“We were driving around the Mara on an early morning when our guide, the very best one in Africa, Mr Lenny Koshal, spotted a serval! Shortly after, we also spotted the kitten. It is extremely rare to see a serval, let alone a kitten! We all got really excited. Only seconds later, we saw two lionesses sneaking into the bushes where servals had just gone. Our guide got a bit upset since he knew the serval kitten was in danger. We drove up to the lionesses and tried to disturb them, but they were too invested in the servals already. They did not care too much, even when we almost bumped into them!”
“We saw the lionesses hurry to one part of the bushes, and the mother serval ran off. We drove around to see what was going on. The kitten was found by the lionesses! When we got there, the kitten was doing its best to scare the lioness away.”
“Sighting ended when the serval kitten charged and tried to scare away the lioness, but all of a sudden, the lioness just took the kitten and bit it.”
“We have not even seen a Serval before. Our guide who has been a full-time guide in Maasai Mara for 12 years has only seen serval kittens on 4 occasions. Our sighting has probably never been seen before and definitely not on film. Lions are not even known to go after servals.”
“After kitten got attacked by the lion, the serval mother was running around looking and calling for the kitten and it was unfortunate when the mother realized the kitten was gone. When she saw the kitten, she took off.”

That kitten was a brave soul. He went out with courage and tenacity despite the odds. May you rest in peace, little buddy.
😢😢😢 poor thing
All cats do that especially kittens.
Rip 🙏🏾
It was so cute! 😭 I know they're not supposed to interfere with nature but in this case why didn't they make an exception? I'm saying, when lions hunt a buffalo or zebra or something, you can't interfere because you can't deny the lions of a meal, as they deserve to eat too. But in this case, the lion killed the baby for simply existing and it didn't eat it, so its precious life and its dead body are now completely wasted. If they saved the baby, the lion wouldn't starve because the lion wasn't even going to eat it. Just making an observation here.
@@cintronproductions9430 I know it sucks but we can not interfere with nature. The lioness only killed it because its a sign of do not cross our territory.

The crush of his jaws broke his spine. That kitten had no chance:(
Her jaws you meant
I really don't think there is reason to feel sad. The lion obviously did not tear the kitten to shreds. It could have instantly. Still this had absolutely nothing to do with a genetic kinship. A chimpanzee will eat a monkey. The kitten was just too small to provide any sustenance, or threaten the big cat. The Lion just showed his dominance and probably then just went looking for a real meal.
@@foxglove8199 Or its jaws ;-) It's an animal after all
@@jamesaburke7 Lions and animals don't experience the same things as us they don't think about life and death and pain as we do it is just an experience the kitten did not suffer as much as it seems it had never experienced such pain before and the body shuts down when there is too much life-threatening pain. Like I say, the animal doesn't know the concepts of life, death, and pain the same way that we do so for us to say that the animal kingdom is cruel is not really fair to say. It simply is the way it is for extremely old and complex reasons that it would literally take God to understand. I'm sure it is still "painful" in that sense, but we as humans know what pain really is and why it happens, a kitten does not. Think of a child who does not know that something is hot like a frying pan and puts their hand in it, at first they don't know what the pain is that they are experiencing the simply go off of reaction but you don't feel any pain immediately the sensation comes on after a second and then it is uncomfortable the animal does not experience fear the same way we do, it may be afraid, but if it has no concept of death then it doesn't really know that it is going to die. It does not know what dying means. So like I say to this kitten it was just an experience of "death" and if you believe that things recycle and come back into this universe then the kitten will decompose, recycle, and come back in another form thousands if not millions of years into the future. Maybe a form that is similar to a human being. All of this depends on your beliefs of course, but as we have found out there is a reason for pretty much everything it's just not always a reason that we like to hear.

Plus, its prey wouldnt make sense to even bring up in this case because lions dont feed on servals. The baby got crunched to death and just left there... At least a serval would have eaten the small mammals it catches.
@@skoddetid7444 uh... ok. You seem to think im hating on the lion and/or mother nature, lol. Im just sad the kit died, thats all. But you make good points either way

Ok man I just wanted it to die quickly.
Lions don't do sentimentality. A sad ending for the little beastie.
The kitten is attacking. The lion its just defending his own
@@Daniel19876 her own that’s a lioness
That lioness looked like "what, a lioness gotta eat right?"
Playing dead is the only reasonable option in such a situation .

@@haridastaorem9895 there is no way you can be stupid when death is in front of you , what if kitten ran or tried to escape ! Nobody could save it because a large deadly lioness was infront of it

To all who were expecting a happy ending always remember that the real jungle ain't no Disney movie 😉
Lioness didn’t bite him that hard. The serval kittens bones must be super fragile for it die so easily. R.I.P
Lion: go away homan, things started turn ugly.
Lion: wait it tastes like me, I won’t eat it!
Does he eat lion too? Haha
Just by the first hit that kitten got factory reseted.
Before people start throwing middle fingers, remember that these horrifying shit also happens in the wild.
Serval kitten at 0:34-"I've made a terrible mistake". Lioness at 1:45"I've made a terrible mistake"
Lion killed it's cousin
If only the kitten didn't lunge to trigger the lioness, it could have probably stayed still until the lioness looses interest and bolt to a dense bush for safety or a tree. Saw a vid of a leopard in the open surrounded by lionesses and a lion, dude stood his ground submissive position, lions lost interest and the second the male lion looked the other way, the leopard became a cheetah and was gone. :D
I saw that video👍👍👍
She is protecting the family 😢😭😢😭
a leopard is not a serval dude. even if its smaller the lions know right that if they mess even with one adult leopard their faces and noses can be shred to pieces. And no one wants that.
The leopard knew what he was doing and probably encountered and escaped from the same lions in the past. These servals didn't catch the lion scent in time to escape.
it was a kitten so it had no experienece😭
Great descending modulation on the little cat. Even at times of danger pain did not really compromise function
The lion face be like : hey are you start recording yet? It is start? Good Whoop the cat
There was a chance that the lioness could’ve just ignored it if the kitten didn’t provoke the lioness 🤷♂️
@Blaz _ I would simply have gunned down the lion. Fair is fair, especially when said lion doesn't eat what she killed.
@Blaz _ its 50/50 if only he didn't provoke big guy, even big guy shows no interest at him at all and was waiting for him to show off then he will give him a forever lesson on his stupidnessits not fate.
