Fun fact: Sehun's yellow gloves that he is wearing during his "What A Life" live performance and you will see him wearing in EXO-SC's "What A Life" MV, are Louis Vuitton brand. As you just saw, he was a Louis Vuitton model. Those gloves cost more than most people's entire outfit. LOL As a testament to Sehun's and EXO's trending power, those gloves sold out really fast after the MV was released.
Although Kai has made crop tops famous and was one of the first male idols to wear them, he actually doesn't LOVE to be shirtless as much as people might think. Kai is often shirtless because he is known for his abs and it's become part of his brand. These days it is almost expected of him that he will show off his abs. It has even sort of became part of EXO's storyline. He has literally been on a strict diet and workout regimen for most of his career in order to maintain his abs. If you check out an episode of "I live Alone" where Kai was on the show, he shows off his super chic condo and talks a little about his diet. However, in an episode of Knowing Bros. he talked about how on stage he doesn't mind being shirtless because it is part of the character he embodies, but the minute he steps off stage he becomes extremely self-conscious. During "Tempo" and "Obsession" era when he was wearing crop tops all over the place to perform during music shows and events, etc. he said it caused him to have really bad posture, because the minute he stepped off stage he would slouch to try and cover his stomach. Even though he knows he looks good, Kim JongIn is really shy, so I think if it hadn't become such a big part of who he is as an idol and model, he probably wouldn't be shirtless very often.
Lay is still EXO although his contract with SM ended. Until now he still introduce himself as EXO Lay. He's huge in China so who knows when he will be back with the guys as the relationship between the two countries are still not that good. He did record an album with EXO in 2021 called Don't Fight the Feeling. It was a special album for the fans while they were enlisting.

With EXO's concept and storyline the members have been restricted from participating in a lot of things and doing the type of music and activities they want to do because they needed to maintain EXO's mysterious concept and their content had to fit in with EXO's storyline, etc. Everything EXO does is connect to the group's concept and storyline, including most of the members solo projects, which could be why some of the members felt like they didn't have the freedom to do what they wanted with their careers. Everything they did had to fit with EXO's storyline and they had to keep up the public image of being otherworldly, etc. Therefore, now that their contracts have expired, this has allowed the members a chance to decide for themself what they want to do, and in the last year several of the members have decided to leave SM Entertainment and form their own companies or seek out other representation for their solo work. Leaving SM will allow some of them to be able to branch out and to find their own paths, allowing them to be more independent and to find what they want to do with the next chapter of their careers. I mean it's actually very rare to see a Kpop group last more than 7 years and to still be with their same company (This year is EXO's 12th anniversary.) In the Kpop industry it's actually known as the 7 year curse. Most first contracts are up after 7 years, which in the past often meant the group would either sign a new contract with the company -- with the new contract usually good for about 3 years -- or the group would disband because the members either wanted to try something new or the company no longer thought the group was profitable enough to keep them around, etc. Groups like EXO, who are still mega popular at the time of their contract expiration date have a few more choices, but they were still much more limited than they are today. It used to be that if the members didn't want the group to disband they had to stay with the company and agree to the company's terms. However, in the last few years, the industry as started to loosen up a little and redefine how things function when a member of a veteran group wants to explore their own path. Now companies are starting to see the value in working with their artists to not hold them to exclusive contracts and allow them to be more independent without loosing the popularity and earning potential of the group. Several Kpop groups such as GOT7 or Infinite, for example, have bought the rights to their group's name and songs and have established their own companies where they can still release music as a group while the members maintain independant solo careers. And in some cases, such as with 2PM, when one of the members decided to leave JYP Entertainment and sign with a new company, he was able to work out a deal with JYP that allows him to still do activities as a member of 2PM, while his solo activates are under his new company. Which is what I hope will be similar to the deal that the EXO members have worked out with SM. The members who have left SM are now free to do what they want as independent artists, but they can still continue activities as a member of EXO, which continues to be part of SM Entertainment. After all, I think this is the best of both worlds for both SM and the EXO members -- neither has to shoulder all the risk and they both can benefit from the popularity, money-making potential and name recognition of the EXO name, etc. This is also similar to what we have seen happen with SM's legendary groups Super Junior and SHINee. Just recently 2 of the SHINee members have decided to end their exclusive contracts with SM after 15 years and move their solo work to new companies, but they remain members of SHINee and they will still participate in SHINee activities under SM. And several of the Super Junior members have also moved their solo work to new companies after 18 years with SM, however, they still are active members of Super Junior, which is still under SM.
Kai is the most effortlessly expressive dancer i have ever seen. And pfcoyrse the sexiest kpop dancer. Although there are other best dancers in kpop and i love them but Kai and taemin are the most graceful dancers. Still when it comes to strongest aura and expressive dance style it is Kai. His delicate hands gestures and bodylanguage Shows that dance is not just dance. It is language and art.
since Lay left SM entertainment, he doesn't have any obligation to do any group activities. but he said that if his members need him that he would be there for them. he joined them last on their special album called Don't Fight The Feeling last 2021. D.O. is the same as well since he also recently left their agency & started his own. but you can see D.O. on most group activity. tbh their situation is a bit complicated because CBX (Chen, Baekhyun & Xiumin) also have their own agency but this is just for their solo & sub-unit activities. the difference between them & D.O. & Lay is that they still have a contract w/ SM. & for your question about how do they get fit, most of them are gym rats. they often see each other at the gym when they don't have schedules. even if they're busy they'll always find the time to go. i wish i had their motivation 😅 unfortunately i don't see any updated group/member guide except Xiumin. i really hope someone will do one someday. tysm for reacting to EXO. hope to see more of them on your channel

And Exo is a trendsetter for many things in kpop like Bluetooth lightsticks, online fansigning event,group lore, face chain trend, Crop top a trend made by kai. Many groups now tend to include atleast one person who can play instruements they have inspired others even the ones who were not doing it before. The first one to live sing at relay dance, million seller group after a decade and a million seller soloist. There are so many things that exo became that big and that too with 3/4 memebrs leaving the group. Solo stans left the fandom, they faced hatred alot. A long hiatus. They havent done a concert since 2019, no promotions still the richest kpop band tells alot about them. As people say that exo is a groups that seems to be made in a Lab. And some of the reactors do agree with it. I wish more people see their talent. The most versatile boyband ever made. I am not saying it bcz i am a fan. Bcz many vocals coaches who reacted to them told about the genres.

sm used kai, baekhyun and taemin's popularity to promote those nct members and establish their fandom lol literally overoworking kai and baekhyun, postponing baekhyun's album and giving everything to superm instead of exo who is their biggest selling group and are well deserve of a US label and proper promotion.

Talking about idol dating, i think exo have went through it all and A LOT especially during 2020-2023 (even until now). Chen's sudden announcement abt his marriage and having a child made him received death threats, all kind of harsh words, even the "so called" exol demonstrated in front of the SM building asking him to leave the group. Thank god he has strong mentality and keep his promise to stay in exo and continue to be always on stage because he loves his fans.
I'm a hardcore fan of exo, I praise their songs and vocals till my death, but for acting in movies only D.O. is very good and talented and Suho for musicals.

Unfortunately, the political climate between Korea and China was only a little better for a short time. However, since this guide was made, China's Idol culture has become even more restrictive after the election of their new president. Plus, Lay left SM Entertainment in 2022 -- when his contract was up after 10 years -- but he has made it clear that he hasn't left EXO. Although there are still several obstacles in his way to being able to work with EXO. Therefore, we may never get to see Lay working in person with the rest of EXO again, but we can always hope. Although, one good sign is that Super Junior's Chinese member Zhoumi, who has also been restricted from being able to work with Super Junior for the past 6 years or so, was actually back in Korea for several months last year and he released a new song with one of his Korean Super Junior members and the song was in both Korean and Mandarin and he even did promotions and appeared on Korean programs while he was there. As mentioned, Lay's hiatus from EXO is not something he has chosen, but it's something that has sort of been forced upon him by the government. When China first began cracking down on their citizens working in Korea around 2016 -- as a political protest over South Korea's alignment with the U.S. and China's support of North Korea, etc. -- there were rumors that the Chinese government was threatening to revoke the citizenship of any mainland native Chinese person who continued to do business with a Korean company and lived outside of China. This rule would have prevented Idols, such as Lay, from visiting family and doing business in China, etc. The only way for them to avoid this from happening was for them to come back to China right away and stop doing business with their Korean companies. I don't know if this was really true or if it was just a rumor, but that is what I heard. This would explain why some Chinese Idols don't feel any pressure to stop working in Korea because they have nothing to lose if they don't have family or a life in China or they aren't mainland Chinese citizens, etc. Yes, there are lots of Chinese Idols still working in Korea. However, these idols don't have the connections to the Chinese government the way Lay and other idols do. Many of those Chinese idols' careers don't depend on being able to promote or live in China and many Chinese idols don't have close family living in mainland China or they are not from mainland China, which is why they have more immunity from the restrictions placed on Chinese citizens. For example, NCT-Dream's Chinese members don't work very much in China and most of WayV's members are not from mainland China. That is also why SM has created Label V in order to make it possible for WayV to release music in China and its why WayV distances themselves from the fact that they are part of NCT whenever they promote in China. Lay's whole career is tied to being able to work and live in China and he is closely connected to the Chinese government, so he has to tread lightly when it comes to how he conducts himself and who he chooses to associate with, etc. He can't afford to be blacklisted in the Chinese entertainment industry. For a long time, Lay was even discouraged from mentioning EXO by name in TV shows and interviews, but he always finds subtle ways to make it clear that being a member of EXO, and his EXO brothers, are always very important to him. You should check out Lay's official lyric video for his song "Jiu," a song on his East album, which was released after he announced his departure from SM. This song is evidence that he has not left EXO and that he still considers himself part of the group, as every word of the song is a tribute to EXO. I have also read that on Webo (the Chinese internet server) he mentioned how he was working out a deal with SM that could possibly allow him to still continue to do projects with EXO in the future. (I mean it's possible, Taecyeon from 2PM left JYP Entertainment, but he worked out a deal with his new company that has allowed him to continue activities with 2PM. And even more encouraging is the fact that Girls' Generation had a comeback as a full group in 2022 even though 3 members left SM more than 5 years ago.) I mean, SM has been supporting Lay in everything he has been doing so far, including endorsing him when he started his trainee company Chromosome. And I don't think there is any bad blood or uneasy feelings between Lay and SM, so anything is possible.

SM actually does not treat foreign members right. Lay the last chinese members had hardly one line to sing in songs and no solo dance in live shows despite being the main dancer. Korean members had solos even the ones not in the dance line. But the thing is no grpupd cpuld survive and make it as big as exo with 4 members leaving the groups who were main dancers or vocalists. But exo did. It tells alot about how good they all were in singing dancing and live shows. They are amazing lyricists. Not many people talk about it bcz exo members never brag about it. Chen, chanyeol, sehun and lay particiapted in writing so many songs.

Watching MAMA MV will give you an insight into their powers and the basic storyline concept of EXO. As of this year, 2024, 8 of the 9 members of EXO will have Solo albums under their belts. So excited. Lay, last chinese member, has left SM Entertainment, but is still a member of EXO and always will be. His last promotion and participation with EXO was the "Don't Fight the Feeling" Album which is the last album before Cream Soda. Also as of this current day and time, Baekhyun, Xiumin, Chen and D.O. have officially left SM Entertainment for EXO CBX and solo content, however, remain in EXO as a full team for EXO group content only. EXO Should be doing a comeback as a full group either this year or next year, whenever it is that Kai and Sehun are back from military service. The group will once again be whole, whether Lay gets to participate in the next comeback is yet to be seen. Baekhyun, D.O., and Lay all are CEO's of their own entertainment agencies. Both Lay and Chanyeol have their own studio and are producers. So I would imagine, in the near future, EXO members will only be with SM strictly for EXO Group content and otherwise venture out on their own or join a members new agency for solo and subunit content, but that remains to be seen. If you are interested in their storyline, i would highly suggest getting into the superpower vids and concept/ theory vids by CesarOh (youtube channel). The band behind SUHO is OTHER talent. Though on stage in their concerts, Baek, Lay, or Chanyeol will play instruments for certain sets or songs. Baek can play Piano, both lay and chanyeol can play piano, and guitar and Chanyeol can also play drums and base, Lay can also play a chinese pipe/flute. Chen is the only married member and the only member with children. Two daughters as of 2024. As of 2024, Suho(leader) has 2 solo albums under his belt, however it is planned that at the end of May will be releasing his 3rd. Xiumin(eldest member) has 1 solo album under his belt and is a member of subunit EXO-CBX. Lay is the last chinese member and he has roughly 7 solo albums under his belt at this point. Baekhyun(main vocal) has 4 albums under his belt and is a member of EXO CBX subunit and SM SuperGroup SuperM as the Leader. (unsure if he will participate in SuperM after leaving SM Agency) Chen(main vocal) has 4 solo albums under his belt, and is scheduled to release a 5th this year. Chanyeol(main rapper) is scheduled to debut with his first solo album this year, 2024 and is a member of subunit EXO SC. D.O.(main vocal) has 3 solo albums under his belt. Kai(main dancer/center) has 3 solo albums under his belt and is a member of SuperM as main dancer. Sehun (main rapper and maknae) is a member of subunit EXO SC.

I would recommend individual guides by Caesar Oh although they're also outdated like this one a bit but still they cover the overall personality and achievements of each member well. As for Lay, he eventually get to participate in Don't Fight the Feeling album after this guide in 2022. His contract with the company expired that very same year but he's still part of Exo (this is something that's common in SM since no member ever truly leaves the group even after their contract expires). There's also a 2023 guide which is almost 4 hours long and honestly I haven't even seen it so can't really recommend it.

This guide only showed one or two members play instruments. Most of them are capable of playing piano(capable because some of them were self-trained and are very good at it). Only like two members doesn't play instrument but contribute to other side of music production like song writing and creative direction.
