This video was a rush to get done as I had to leave for a weekend away with the family! In the rush I forgot to add the theme tune. I uploaded the video before I left and now I’m away from home I can’t do anything about it. So it was either live with it or wait until next week! Sorry about that and don’t worry it will be back for the next episode!
As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

MUY buena calidad, el texto imagenes. kzhead.infoUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO Un manuel muy completo y trabajado. Resulta muy práctico. Para principiantes y profesionales. Lo recomiendo
I didn't see any mistakes, only an highly skilled artisan 'fault-finding' and solving all issues in a mastery way. Another awe-inspiring project, gracefully crafted! Thank you for posting, all the best!
I am a newbie at woodworking, and it is very helpful to see you going round the problem you face. I wouldn't think that the grain of the wood would be that important on such a short piece of wood! Thanks for sharing !
A craftsperson is not measured in how few mistakes they make, but in how many mistakes they fix. (Which is good, 'cause I make a LOT of mistakes!)
Thank you for the kind words! 😊
You didnt see mistakes because your an idiot
@@rob5982 The contraction of "you are" is "you're", idiot.
Sometimes it's the little things: 1) You showed the entire process, mistakes, recoveries and all. 2) The vintage drawer pull harkening back to old library card catalogs, etc., really finishes the piece. 3) The end. (No spoiler, but it's so good.) Overall, a thing of beauty. And all from scrap timber!
Thanks very much John - glad you enjoyed it! 😊
The mark of a true craftsman, is not perfection, but the ability to correct mistakes flawless. Another great build brother. Keep em coming.
Thanks very much Matthew! 😊
Exactly!
This episode of scrap wood challenge is proof that the videos them selves can stand alone. I know we all came for the theme song, but we stayed for the video. Great job on this one.
With every video I get a little bit more knowledge and lots of inspiration. This one is no exception. Never knew how my grandma's breadboxes worked and now I know. Wish I could make one. Who knows, maybe someday. Thanks for the great videos! Really appreciate them and your work 😃👍
Thanks very much mate! 😊
8:18 RIP to that fly that got crushed. You will -not- be missed.
if you continue to watch the video you will notice it crawls out from under there as if nothing happened
Excellent job. You also did a fine job training the ants on your bench.
"Hey Mr Tambour-ing Man" - nice job. Quite a result!
Wonderful box, I enjoyed your trial and error too, I'm grateful you decided to show us you working through problems. Thank you!
I love this thing. The slide door connected to the back of the drawer is a super satisfying addition. Very well done!
"It sure is cool!" my husband says. It's a beautiful piece of work there.
Nice recovery with the router. Love the build too.
I'm A craftsman. Or at least, I used to be. My health problems have gotten the best of me. One of my favorite things was to make small keepsake boxes. This one tops any that I ever made. 👍
I love that you explain how, where, when and why you've made a mistake. We learn with you and that's amazing.
I'm really in awe of your commitment to the scrapwood challenge. It's pretty inspiring to see so many creative ideas!
Glad you’re enjoying it!😊
Looks like a very satisfying build. Love the sound it makes when closing. Nice one!
I reckon it was Scott - glad you liked it mate! 😊
Cool project. Great tip on the wood grain direction. I may have done the same thing.
Thanks mate!😊
Very well done! Both the project and the video! Plenty of projects need "tweeking" to get them just right, nice to see your work around. This was a real project done by a real Craftsman, thank you for your time and thank you for sharing!
What a great build! Love the design. Thank you.
I've never seen a tambour being made. Fascinating! Thanks for such wonderful content.
I like your stop motion style filming and the natural sounds / sped up sounds you include in your videos. It's really original for a build-style channel. Keep it up man!
Wow, I'm amazed! This is an awesome project. Thanks for showing us. 👍🏻😍
I always admire your honesty when ever you make a mistake instead of just editing it out, gives hope to the rest of us. Great vid. Thks
Love your channel Pask, your an inspiration to us all.
I didn’t see how it was intended to work but as the vid unfolded I was more and more impressed. Great end product. Thanks for sharing this. 😎👍
Simply amazing - Thanks for sharing this wonderful project!
You are great Neil, enjoy the week end with your family!
Wow...Amazing box great idea and very creative mind 👌👌Thanks for sharing 👍
Hmmm. Could be adapted for a bread garage with a pullout cutting board.
Think the crumbs might stop it working!
So beautiful! I love it when something works so cleanly. And that it became that way after a mistake as well just makes it even more special. It looks so much better that way rather than being a straight box.
Stunning! Such skills, and with a real eye for design too! And I really appreciate that you leave in your “mistakes” and include little sections where your design changes or evolves as you go along. Tremendously inspirational 👍🏻✌🏻
No worries Daniel - glad you liked it! 😊

I really missed it... 😂... I was singing it when I saw you had a new vid out and my wife was looking at me and laughing 😂
My favorite challenge video so far. May even be my favorite project of yours! Awesome work man!
I WAS SO CONFUSED AND SCARED! Had to sing it to myself to make up. Phew.
I had to go watch another video and listen to it
fiouf! i was worried it was gone for good! Awesome build, the instagram updates kept my hype pretty high haha.
Very impressive work, mate! You are a very skilled man, I wish that I had your patience!
Thanks for always showing your problem solving techniques!
Wow, you never run out of amazing ideas. And you're never afraid to take on a challenging project!
Incredible! On IG, I mentioned that it reminds me of a breadbox that we used to have when I grew up. It also reminds me of roll top desks and somehow, also reminds me of the Robot in Lost in Space :)
Thanks mate! I wouldn’t mind one of those bread boxes, I might have to make one! 😊
Esse trabalho resume a uma só palavra:perfeição.
Cool design Neil! Thanks for sharing the video with us.👍😎JP
I never fail to be awed by your creativity, design and craftsmanship.
How clever! Very neat!
Okay, this is a way cooler project than I thought it was going to be.
What a cool little project you came with for the scrap wood challenge!! Always a joy watching your videos,William
wow!! just wow!! such a brilliant project and demystifies the Tambour Box for me. Thanks Neil!!
sir, you're an artist! good job
That is a very nice design. One thing I noted during your routing of the curved groove with a template is that when you move the router in one direction, it's easy to keep it along the template, and in the other direction it's much harder. You routed in the "correct" direction for the first piece, and the "incorrect" direction the second piece. The spinning bit makes the router tend to move to the left as it proceeds, so it's best to have the template to the left. Highland Woodworking has an excellent article describing this: Google "routers go left".
Thanks Alan! You are absolutely right and I made sure to go the correct way the first time. The second time I just forgot everything that I should be doing and went for it. I didn’t realise I’d actually routered in the wrong direction until you pointed it out but it shows I was right in the fact that I was careless! 😊
Great video and nice looking build. Thanks for including the mistakes and your ideas for solving them. Each one you show and explain helps us build a library of strategies that we can use in future I builds.
Mistakes! Never Neil, you're just engineering the problem until it does what you intended.. Just brilliant mate.
Great video pask! If u notice at the 8:00 mark there are some insects on your bench and at the 8:19 mark you flip the box over and squash one of them ! lol that was great, I am wondering if anyone else caught that !!!!!
I did.
Me too, it seems the box also works as a fly swatter!
I was swatting them from across the pond, sighed in relief that you finally got them.
I think the fly survived as the lip on the edge saved it.
shhh..... it's secret wood finish.
Original, high quality and very informative. Thank.
Another brilliant build. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent build! Thanks for sharing.
Nice !! My father was a cabinet maker & as a child I learned a lot hanging around his bench... but went on to become a machinist myself. Its only now in my 60s that I've come back to wood... 🙄😏 Wood is sooo much nicer to work with than steel... warmer & more tactile & the tools connect you more with the material... 😕 I've liked& subbed my friend... keep up the good work ! 😎👍☘
Thanks very much Peter! :)
After watching a good number of these videos I think where Mr. Pask is concerned there is no such thing as “scrap wood”.
Neil, it's just brilliant! Thanks for sharing.
This is a lovely project, thanks for sharing.
Not that is clever! Good one there and thank you for sharing it.
On your website the shirt you wearing is written Mambo In my language it means the King
Great idea. Love the design with the drawer opening the tambor top
Outstanding craftsmanship and I thoroughly enjoyed watching even though I lack woodworking skills. Thank you.
Отличная работа!!!
This is an outrage! D:< Cool project :)
So deeply clever. Your capacity for imaginative design is just amazing.
Very nice that you included your errors and did not try to hide them with editing. Thank you for that, it actually helps with confidence in tackling something like this because it shows that you can finish a project even when things go wrong part way through.
I would say "Wow", and would like to make one sometimes... ;-)
Maybe never haha
Прекрасная работа!
Neil this is really awesome! So simple yet very practical. I can think of several uses for this type of cabinet, especially with the tambour opening at the same time as the drawer.
This is beautiful! I have been fascinated with this design for a long time. Thanks for sharing the process of making one.
Parabéns ficou muito show
Another great one, Neil! Love how the top opens automatically with the bottom of the drawer. What is the backer material? It just looked like paper to me, but was it something a little tougher than that?
Thanks Bruce - glad you liked it mate! The backer was canvas, it was actually photo canvas as I had a few scraps of it lying around! 😊
Ah, gotcha. That makes sense. It was very tight knit, so I didn't recognize it.
Always wondered how those were made. Thanks for sharing! Awesome stuff.
Such a wonderful video again! I love that you take the time to show us the misconceptions along the way, it gives so much more although I would understand it if someone wouldn't want to take the effort to show them... Beautiful project Pask, as always!
Without the theme tune I thought I had gone deaf... 👍
Everybody! Scrap wood challenge, Scrap wood challenge....
Miss the intro
Last seconds made me happy. Thank you for your video
Such a creative idea. This is one I may have to try. I wonder what it would look like alternating wood types on the top slats. Keep creating and sharing! We are inspired! ⚒🤓👊🏼
I'm not ashamed to say I sang it out loud anyway...
It's like the Morteen add from the past. Louy the fly is burnt into our brain. :D
@@cobberpete1 He's bad and mean and mighty unclean :D kzhead.info/sun/hMeIYrmkgH-ho6c/bejne.html
What is the fabric that was used to hold the slats together? Great project again pask
yes i also want to know
Third that, really want to know.
Looked like canvas or cotton duck
On the tambour I made for my roll top desk I used heavyweight canvas.
Is there a way I can get a copy of your sketch plans with dimensions? Would love to build that.
Wow, that is a beautiful piece.
That is a great looking Tambout Box!!!! And all from scrap ....love it!
did anyone see the bug on the right just walking in circles at 8:01
Or how he just flopped the drawer down on top of 2 of them at one point?
You will be getting tired of the comment I make but Sir you are bloody brilliant
Thanks very much Keith! 😊
You sir. You are one of the few that keeps amazing me. There’s this well tough simple elegance in your work. I can’t explain it very well but other than. Dude you’ve got some mad skills. Thanks.
Watching it again. I swear my brain smelled the glue at 6:30
Thanks very much mate - glad you enjoy my work! 😊
Neil, you nailed it again. Thanks for your creativity!
No theme tune! Thats the only reason we watch!!! UNSUBSCRIBED!!!
Aww this box is adorable!! You’re a really talented artist
Really cool Neil! I'm continually inspired by your craftsmanship and that you share your goof ups and how you fix them.
Thanks very much Jason! 😊
I really admire that you show your mistakes! and how to fix them.
Superb finished work.
Amazing 👍 really like your presentation/backing sounds too. Thank you 😊
love this build, always wondered how this was made, similar to a roll top desk, cheers
How very clever that was. I love the look of it as well ! Pretty darn cool!
This is propably one of my favourite videos you made with a great project amazingly executed. 10/10 and thank you for the great content.
I really like it when you show your errors and your fixes. It makes me feel better about my own efforts.
Great Recovery and beautiful finished product.
Thanks very much Peter! 😊
That's a really nice box Thanks for sharing the video with us.👍 Nice greetings from Vienna ,Austria Chris
Nicely done. Looks like it works great.
