Watched this thing from the school field near my house. It was pretty awesome, but I was on the more diffuse part of it. Good thing about that was, it cleared up in time for a night of amazing lightning!

It was so cool i ran in the golf course until it ended
I was in Scottsdale on vacation at the time and by the time I looked up and tried to get out of the pool it hit us. One minute it was hot and sunny and the next minute it was crazy windy and dark. They did say one person died that night from the lightning afterwards by hitting an apartment building and catching it on fire. Crazy night

That's likely a dust devil, which is very common in the desert Southwest. They usually occur under a clear sky.
