The Menderbug's Revenge Mod is a really silly challenge mod for Hollow Knight that will kill you if you break any background objects such as signs and grass. I decided to attempt a True Ending run with this mod on, here's how it went.

I imagine menderbug views the world from the perspective of the camera and is just holding a sniper rifle waiting for the knight to accidentally break an object.

While I do understand what you're saying... grass respawns when you leave and re-enter an area. So dying would respawn all grass.

@@CouldBeChara oh wait right I forgot that grass% had a counter. I'm just dumb lol. Worst part of that would be making sure you keep track of which ones you've cut. Is there only one piece of nursery grass or would you have to do PoP multiple times?

It is possible. You have to cut the grass once to count toward grass%, so all you have to do is cut every grass but die every time you cut one. Of course you can probably get multiple at a time using shade soul etc. It would probably still be shorter than low% true ending.

I have a guess for what the mod decides will kill you if you break it, aside from being unavoidable! I think it's that, anything that respawns, that is implied that Menderbug fixes. like signs and statues and,, grass ig they're the ultimate grass grower or something. They all will kill you. But things that stay broken, like geo rocks, those door things, and the wood planks, don't, bc Menderbug doesn't try with those

Would it be possible to do this on steel soul mode? I can't think of any major roadblocks except for having to use longnail on the elder baldur to get into greenpath because of that one piece of grass behind it
Not being able to shade skip into Blue Lake could present problems depending on the necessary rerouting

I had a stupid run in with invincibility… so it was modded, but none of the mods gave invincibility, it was just QOL and custom knight I think. I was like half way through P5, I though I was getting so lucky, hadn’t been hit once… and then… I touched spikes, and I knew… I just wasted a lot of time
