There is a video of what went on "backstage" on the singer show and he meets with the producers and musical director. He kinda irritates them when he asks them to do things differently or his way. He demonstrates what he wants on the keyboard and they comment on his abilities being very different from others and that in the end they do respect his requests. He's been doing arranging since he was a kid and being a multi-instrumentalist, he knows what he wants!
I remember seeing that bit; he didn’t like the drums coming in at a certain point or something. I wasn’t sure who actually won that argument!

Dimsh's parents are officially national treasures in Kazakhstan due to their contributions to Kazakh music and culture. Dimash is not just a talented singer. From the age of five he has been trained in piano and voice. Dimash has completed a Broadway Musical master class. He has graduated in Classical Music with Major in Vocal (Bel Canto) and also in Contemporary Music (Jazz, Pop) with Major in Vocal. He has also gained a Master's Degree in Composition by defending his Master's thesis with a perfect score, and received a recommendation for admission to doctoral studies in music. Dimash is known to play six instruments, piano and keyboards, dombra, drums, guitar, marimba and bayan, but probably has an intricate understanding of many more. He speaks Kazakh and Russian, and has an understanding of English and Mandarin. He has performed songs in 12 different languages. With all that knowledge and expertise it is highly likely that Dimash would have and well expect to have almost total creative control of his own performances.

Dimash is so much more than just vocal pyrotechnics. His emotional intelligence is palpable in his most recent works QAIRAN ELIM and QARAGYM AI, both in Kazakh and both brilliant. You’re on a journey of discovery now, but it doesn’t have to be linear. Everything he does is really high quality and nothing will disappoint, particularly taken in context eg in a concert , but even apart as stand alone performances. He’s a star.

Dimash works on all of his songs with his friend Erlan Bekchurin. There are many videos and photos of them together in the studio. Dimash “sees” and “feels” the song and Erlan understands him well and makes it happen. Dimash always has the last word and gets it the way he wants it. Erlan is an incredible musician and arranger. The symbiosis is amazing. Same thing with Igor Krutoy, who has written and arranged many of the songs Dimash sings. Some of the songs are arranged by both Igor and Erlan.

Yes, I think you would be pretty blown away by Nunchucks! Hua sings about four different styles in one song with crazy energy.
He co-arranges many of his songs with his great friend and ‘brother’, the extremely talented Erlan Bekchurin, who is credited at the beginning of this performance.
He almost sounds like he is doing solo guitar licks. I have never seen another singer put so much passion in every song, sometimes it almost sounds like crying within his voice. He is always one hundred percent in the moment in every song. Dimash uses his vocal ability, emotions, gestures ,vocal tones and phrasing and leaves you woven and encapsulated with each performance.
Dimash himself always participates in the arrangement of his compositions. In addition, he works with the excellent arranger Yerlan Bikchurin. They have been friends since childhood and understand each other perfectly. Other arrangers say that Dimash is very stubborn and demands that everything should not sound the way the audience wants, but the way the Music wants.

Those melismatic runs are just extraordinary, especially the last one which he ends with an incredibly long note with vibrato its so awe inspiring to watch and listen to! It's like he's flying and we fly with him. I've noticed in most of his music that he is able to take the listener to particular places and feel particular things.. Samaltau, Autumn Strong, Daybreak, Daidedau are all examples of this. I'm following your Dimash journey with interest..
