The rarest me 262 in War Thunder is the Me 262 A-2a Sturmvogel. This super rare German WWII Jet has 2 less 30mm cannons than its tech tree variant but gets access to bombs!
The reason for buying this German Jet Fighter wasn't because I really wanted it (I did) but instead for the sole task of completing one of the more difficult challenges of this Seasons Battle Pass, Field Testing.
I have to take out 3 vehicles with rockets which weigh under 5kg and since the German Sturmvogel has access to 24 3kg rockets, this should be quite a challenge since they don't have much penetrating power at all!
To be honest, this challenge was just an excuse to fly this AWESOME plane in War Thunder! :)

I love how the 262 is quiet when your flying it but when its flying over you in your tank it sounds like a giant vacuum cleaner is going over the map
That's because he has his own engine sound set to minimum volume and other players' engine sounds at maximum. A lot of sweaty players do that, and it really does make a big difference.
@@DecidedlyNinja It has nothing to do with being sweaty, the sound mixing in the game is just crap. Anything to reduce the number or volume of sounds playing at one time helps.

Even playing low tier I can't get a game that doesn't have level 100's in it. I just want to play a game or two after work some days. But it's not very fun when you get mixed in with losers that play all day every day.

The small rocket challenge was actually the easiest part for me... I just yeeted 3 bombers in 2 games with that same 262... I'm glad I did the event to get it now.

@@OddBawZ they have a super huge collection with a bunch of rare stuff. They have a blackbird, tons of cold war jets, at least 15 helicopters, and several ICBMs. They've even got the original wood mockup for the x-15. And all thats only 2 hours from my house. :)

For anyone struggling to find the rockets that qualify: S-5K - The Migs: 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 27 and the J2, SU-7, 17 and 22s, IL-28Sh, Mi-4AV, Mi-24A and Mi024D, and the IAR 316B. S-5M - Mig 15 Bis', 15 Bis ISH, Mig 17, J2, J4. RN - Buccaneer S1 and S2, Lightning F.53 and Sea Vixen. R4M - 262 A-1A, A-1A Jabo and A-2A. RZ-65 - 109 F2 and 110 F2, but arent Rank III+ so dont count. HF-5/Type 57-I - J-7II and Z-19E. SNEBs are 5.05kg, Pb 2s are 5.31kg, and S-5KPs are 5.01kg, so do not (or shouldnt) count unfortunately.
Also, the first soviet heli also counts afaik
I literally had to break my back grinding for Me 262 A-1a just to use the R4M rockets lol,it was pain trying to get the rocket with how slow it is stock
@@tibinicle Mi-4AV is in his list. Its the vehicle I finished the quest with as I don't have access to top tier jets. Its not the route I'd recommend if you have access to alternatives.
Did it with the 262 A-1A, turns out 48 rockets into a headon gets results sooner or later.

Hey Odd you should try the Morko-Moranne, now you can change the 50cal for a 20mm with minnengeschoss and it absolutely shred 2.0 planes
I prefer the 50 cal for shredding planes. The 20 is better for taking out the ground/AA tho.

Oh man, I haven’t flown it in forever but that 262 was the first thing I ever ground out an event for in War Thunder! Terrible, dark times. But hey at least it was actually worth it unlike the majority of event vehicles these days…
true, a 262 with bombs and a br that could be used on the amazing 6.7 German line up, usefull and enjoyable...now we get overtiered stuff that brakes the wings if a passing bird sneezes!

@@sethmckamey7851 Isnt that good? Thats really great for CAS at 6.7 in ground rb, and against 5.7-6.7 air rb, its basically 262 but without extra weight of 2 cannons, 2 30mm's are more than enough to kill anything they hit and and its one of my best performing aircraft and ive had it since 2017

I love this idea Odd, doing videos trying to complete tasks as efficiently/quickly as possible, should provide a lot of relevant content if you decide to do more of it.
I took the Jabo into Air Arcade and hit planes. Took 1 game and was pretty fun. 262s are trash in Air RB, but they turn SUPER well in Air Arcade which is kinda neat.
As an American I appreciate the precise weight conversion. Our preferred weight measurement is raccoons.
I suffered with the MI-4AV with the S5ks since it was the only vehicle I had with small enough rockets. Took me like 12 games to get 3 kills with them since I'd never flown a heli before and was being extremely pepega.
This is what I'm likely to struggle with as well... or grind the Bucc... and it's modules
The Sturmvogel is a hidden sleeper. If you are a good shot with the 108s, then the BR reduction is well worth it. You will stomp in this thing if you play it right. Honestly though, this thing should be slightly faster than the tech tree 262, as you lose two of those 108s.

I would love to see the su6-am42 with 23mm cannons, it sits at 4.7 but I enjoy bringing it out at 5.7 to face panthers and tigers

You R not alone man. Last year i brought the AMX-13 (SS.11), for a ATGM task; do to despite I'm was already researching rank 7, non of my unlocked tanks had ATGM, (and I wanted to keep the BR as low as possible, to make it easier for me). It worked, and I kept the tank in my 6.7-7.0 preset as well. I was thinking to do this task in naval against PT-boats, but I could not find any rocket under 5kg, the SNEBs are 5kg so those don't count. I don't know if i can use a heli...? But I'm not even gonna try that stupid 40km/h+ kills they torturing us now; no way!

hey so i was looking at that challenge for the bp too but like a week ago and i saw that you supposedly can use american hvars on planes for the small ones cuz less than 5, the fw 190 at 4.3 with only 2 20 mils gets 2 rockets that are 9 something kg so those should work for the 5-10 in theory, and then tiny tims on the f6f5 work for the large rockets. i mean i know bawz is just making content but from looking at masses of things in stat cards those seem to work for the average joe at lower teirs

I remember I opened one of the update battle trophy crates, I think it was my second one ever and I got this plane. Gaijin decided a year later to give me a free talisman on it. Good plane in my opinion
Another option I found was using the MiG-21 SPS-K in Tank RB and shoot down hovering helicopters with the S-5K rockets
Question Bawz. i did this mission too in the Me-262 A1 (7.0 plane) and am wondering how you got those rockets so damn accurate? When i fire those suckers they go everwhere except the place i want them to go, and it's verry inconsistent...
check your crew skill, weapon maintenance has an effect on rocket spread.

idk if you did it already but could you revisit the Sherman firefly? it's my favorite tank purely cause it's a big target once it's been spotted. nothing more satisfying than having three guns turn at you and to out do all three
I'm so very glad I got this and pretty much all event vehicles at the time of the events only a few have I spent an obscene amount because of gaijin tournament/event system being what it is (E 100 in my case) but the rest have been nice and relatively speaking in expensive
That challenge was hard but i liked the challenge. I took a friend with me, played ground RB at 10.0 and I destroyed helis with german MiG-15bis S-5K rockets that weigh 3kg each and you get 16 of them. Also while i was trying to destroy ground targets i managed to destroy a swedish Lvrbv 701, not with the rockets but with overpressure of my plane blowing up when i hit the ground after my controls compressed hard. That was funny because i crashed like 30 meters from him. Also i got a hit camera showing me that my plane blew him up. And the rockets i tried to spam near him, did nothing and it didn’t count the kill towards the battlepass challenge. 😂

I've really wanted this plane for years now, considered it the best Me 262 in the game. Performs identically, possible slightly better than the normal 262 due to reduced weight, can carry bombs so it can be used as CAS, is at a BR of *6.7*, all for the low cost of sacrificing half of its already ludicrous firepower. It doesn't really matter if you hit a plane with two or four 30mm rounds, it gets shot down anyway. Hell, I played the Kikka when it was at 6.7 with the two 30mm cannons and it was really good. Now that it's $70 on the marketplace, and I've got some Christmas money, I'm considering getting it.
I bought it yesterday and I’m really happy with it. You pretty much obliterate anything in downtiers and thanks to its airspawn it’s still capable in uptiers. It’s even more amazing in ground rb imo

Unironically my favorite plane in the game. I play 6.7 Germany purely to clown on props in this monster. So long as you keep your speed up and just tap the trigger, you're a god and can clear the entire airspace. SO glad I grinded for it back in the day. Thanks for playing it!

Fun fact this was the same Me-262 that was being transported to Japan until one of the submarines was sunk :-) by your friendly neighborhood Americans. Which eventually became what we know as the Kikka. (30mm's though were not part of the IRL Kikka design)
