Bruno Fratus was a huge inspiration for me growing as a brazilian competitive swimmer. Not about his style of swimming but his persistence in winning an Olympic medal. We know how much he battled for this medal and it certainly has a very special place in brazilian swimming history!

He had to prepare for men's 4x100m medley relay final later after the next race. He was needed for butterfly leg in that relay. And he did his terrific job in that relay to help USA win the gold with a new WR.

Bruno Fratus have been trying hard to get Olympic medal for long time. He has had medals in World championship. He desperately needed this olympic medal, although only bronze.

You can see Eamon Sullivan was disappointed after losing to Alain Bernard in men's 100m freestyle at Beijing 2008 Olympic. You can see the same thing on Bernard's face after his French team lost to USA in men's 4x100m free at that same Olympic. And Brazil team were disappointed after losing to Russia in men's volleball at 2012 Olympic.

In 50m freestyle usually they don't breathe, because the turns you take to breathe cost time that you could be using to glide further. For breaststroke and butterfly, the breathing doesn't break the flow, because the nose and mouth would be above water between each stroke or 1-2 strokes for the fly.

He's an American. In American culture, tattoos do not immediately tie you to a gang, they're art. The ones he has are the bald eagle (the national bird of America) and the olympic rings, because he's been to the Olympics before and it's tradition to get a tattoo of the rings once you're inducted into the club of Olympians in America.
