  • This is for the people that can't grasp why a man has so many nice machines in his shop. Has it accured to you all that he has these things to make other things that are outside the box? Maybe has it occurred to you all that this is what makes him happy by building things? Ya he could probably buy this stuff new but what the fun in that? So please don't hate on this man for sharing his hobbies and workmanship with us. I personally don't have this equipment either but it's really neat how he made all these parts work for something else entirely from scraps. So please don't hate are time here on earth is entirely to short for it thank you.

    • Todd Ray thanks for your response. When I was studying metalworking, I am talking about 2005 2006, I had a dream to have my own lathe and all the conveniences in my own garage. And when I had bought it all and had to pay for 3 years even my own family declared me crazy. They told me what are you going to do with all those big industrial devices. But once they had a part repaired, they quickly changed their mind. Until the beginning of this year, those devices were covered in dust in my garage. I never thought I could use it for KZhead videos. You can't imagine how happy I feel now. I have everything I need and the sky is my limit. I have a lot of crazy ideas that I will share with you. Everything has its time, I will achieve my goal. keep watching my videos. With best regards,

    • @@meanwhileinthegarage you have the same passion as I do my friend but I don't have my equipment yet but god willing by next year I will. I love fixing and making stuff I've been making knives and everyone in my family has one now that I made. I was hoping once my kids were grown and gone then I'd be able to do it. So now they are grown with kids of their own but now I have cancer that's not curable but I'm not dead yet and I will get the rest of my equipment. I'm subscribing now and I'll be watching. Keep it going I know why you do it and I get it. So don't pay attention to some of these Cheetos eating laying on the couch wanna bees lol

    • Yeah, I really like that. Most benders require a large lever arm, but that requires lots of free space to move, and also a very rigid bench or floor mount. My bench is on wheels, with a 4-foot bar I'd just be dragging the bench around and not bending much of anything. That T-handle and gear drive is quite something.

  • I’m finding now that I need a additional shed so I can separate my wood working projects to my metal projects. My biggest ticket items to purchase are Lathe and mill. On the woodwork side it’s a very good thicknesser and panel saw. It’s taken years to get to this point but with the addition of a nice new large shed I can space out my machines and become so much more productive. I love this fellas work and I would consider it to still be homemade. Keep up the good work everyone. We can all keep inspiring one another so we can show our lovely wife’s that “yes, we did really need that expensive new machine”. Keep up the good work👍

The quality of newer ones just isn't anywhere near as good, unless you spend an absolute fortune on an industrial model. A friend of mine owns a huge machine shop that has been the family business for over 120 years, and about half of his machines are close to, or over 100 years old! Just indestructible if you take care of them and repair them with parts you can make yourself.

  • Being a machinist and a rather good one at that, in slightly less than the average lifetime of a household pet he's created a hand operated bender that could be sold in any tool market for a hefty price, I'm sure. If he was a DIY mechanic instead he'd have taken the rusty flywheel and barley wiped the dirt off, taken a few old pieces of pipe of various sizes with end plates welded to allow bolting down to the flywheel for easy changeable multi sized bends and eliminating the need for a precision turned center wheel of one fixed size resulting in one size bend only. Fitted an old Chrysler gear reduced starter to the base plate and saved the personal workout during the bending process. Would it look great. OH HELL NO but it would be functional, faster, cheaper and could be done with simple tools and access to a harbor freight welder ... Enjoyed your video and you DID do a hell of a job creating a very nice bender. Us old schoolers live by the moto, "poor people have poor ways". lol

  • As soon as the lathe came into action, I quickly realized this was out of my league, yet strangely, I felt compelled to watch it to completion. The ability to visualize all the components required and the execution was impressive. Nice that your "home" is a complete machine shop, however. LOL.
