LYRICS:
Cityscape Skeletons
Taking shape and growing skin
Layer and layer is peeled away
Exhausted
From the repetition of always needing to rebuild
Worn down faces in colorful barren places
City lights and skylines
Guiding home our wandering minds
Tucking us into tortoise shells
Suppressing the outside sounds of relentless consciousness
Where is contemplative terrain that sleeps with the setting sun?
This nocturnal apathy
Binging on shadow and smoke
It's endlessly coming undone
When the ground falls out who will take my hands?
When things fall apart who will take my hand?
I never though that I could withstand
Falling short when I'm a broken man
You never know how much I meant it in love
Every night I'm beside you weeks away you're sleeping alone
Did you ever know how much I meant it?
Millions of tiny pieces looking in on themselves
Reflected in the water
Unaware of each other
Every piece could find its place back in the puzzle
What was one is shattered into many and longs to be whole again
But nothing ever fits quite the same in the end
I never though that I could withstand
Falling short when I'm a broken man
You never know how much I meant it in love
I never though that I could withstand
Falling short when I'm a broken man
Every night I'm beside you weeks away you're sleeping alone
Did you ever know how much I meant it?
When the ground falls out who will take my hands?
When things fall apart who will take my hand?

  • The greatest friend I've ever had in my entire life passed away last month. We served in the Marine Corps together and spent Christmas in the Middle East once too. Just me and him at work, 12 hours a day, sometimes 7 days a week, no one else. We're both out of the Marines now but we hung out every week after we got out since we both moved to Arizona. I lived near him in Phoenix for the first year we were out, but I moved to California for work in July last year and hadn't seen him since then.. I was going to stay with him for 3 days before I drove home to Arkansas for christmas last month. I ate dinner with him a few hours before he died, and that was the first time I'd seen him since I moved to Los Angeles. He had to go run some errands after we ate, but said he'd be home soon to see me. I was waiting in his driveway later that night and he texted me at 10:59 PM to say, "I'm about to be on my way home, see you soon buddy, I love you" He wrecked his motorcycle at 11:01 PM. I fell asleep in my car at his house waiting for him. I woke up at 7 the next morning to my phone ringing in my lap. It was our old Gunnery Sergeant calling me to break the news...It was so hard to drive away from his house and continue the 20 hour drive home to Arkansas from Phoenix by myself for Christmas.. But I didn't have a reason to stay in Phoenix anymore.. I was lucky enough to have his mom pay for all my travel costs to go to his services in his hometown right before Christmas. I got her number from another Marine after I got off the phone with the Gunnery Sergeant.. I remember her saying, "Blake told me you were his best friend in the whole world so I'll do whatever I have to do to get you up here for him." She had only ever met me one time before that. I have had nightmares almost every night since his passing. I am heartbroken. This was Blake's favorite song. It always makes me think of him. Rest in peace, Blake Justin Newman. United States Marine Corps, 2013-2017. Phoenix Police Dept. Until Valhalla, Warrior.. My sweetest friend.. I love you. Semper Fidelis, Marine. • Excuse me, but it does matter. Jesse is really talented, but Ian didn't fit in as much as JT fits into their style. I really hope JT comes to stay, because the guy kills it live. You're hearing this from an ERRA fan from 2012, I've never listened to Texas in july PRE-"JT in ERRA". I love jesse, but he struggles to deliver live. It's either that or he gets a little lazy on some of the songs. Anyway, JT rules bro give the legend some recognition haha him and Alex are amazineg to watch perform live.

      @chuyine10@chuyine107 жыл бұрын
    • Ian didn't fit??? He sounded very similar to the original vocalist, so unless you didn't like the original vocalist, you can't much say that Ian didn't fit in. JT isn't bad, but I would've preferred to keep Ian over JT.

    • @Jarrod Davis Seriously? You must have absolutely NO idea what it feels like to be standing on the edge of utter hopelessness where death is better than life as it is. Don't EVER call someone weak who is suicidal-suicidal people are the strongest people you'll ever meet. A "normal" person couldn't deal with the deep emotional despair they experience daily.

      @PatSporrerMusic77@PatSporrerMusic775 жыл бұрын
    • @Jarrod Davis I'd much rather be weak than the one who degrades others in the comment section of a KZhead video. Ever heard the phrase, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."? Your insinuation that Cobain wasn't strong is absurd. Could you've handled the stress of fame and addiction as long as he did? Rhetorical question by the way. I'll leave my message at this... I hope that you soon come to your senses as a human and realize that there's more to life than kicking others while they're already down. I can only assume you're 13-16 and don't know how to show compassion yet..and that's excusable..if you're any older....yikes man.. all in all, I wish you the best in your life and that you NEVER have to experience being that low because I know you'd ABSOLUTELY crumble.

    • Maybe instrumentals but jesse’s voice is more wailing and can barely hit some of the higher notes live and doesn’t sound good. It does seem better when you are there but if you listen and watch some live performances on KZhead it’s pretty bad. But in the studio and album I absolutely love how his singing and voice sounds on the albums. It’s not that he can’t sing but some of that stuff is just high as hell to sing live for him so he has to just half wail half scream them lol

  • Yesterday I woke up for work at 6am and this song was stuck in my head.. couldn't figure out why. I got ready for work as I normally do and couldn't help but put this on as I got in my car and headed for work. Though it was only 630am at that point I had completely wrapped my head around this song and was blasting it as I was driving down the road. The 1st verse kicked in and I started to tear up.. I realized it was this song that was bringing me back to a time when one of my best friends, whom I don't see anymore, would hang out with me almost every day, Skate, play video games, just living it up like best friends could. I don't see him anymore because he chose a life that I don't want to, and cannot be a part of. He was struggling, like many of us, with a lot and found the wrong avenue to alleviate stress and anxiety. I however managed to pull myself from the depression that I was in and quit with all the bad influences in my life. We could no longer be friends. We now live different lives and no longer see each other. It is songs like this that helps me to remember the good times I had with my best friend. I ended up playing this song all day and it was a nostalgic feeling like no other. Brought me to tears. Thank you Erra for your music, I can't explain how much it has helped me. See you in Feb 2023 @ Ace of Spades, Sacramento CA ❤️‍🔥
